Most people in Australia talk about the petrol prices at some point in time (usually when their wallets are lighter after fuelling up). I know some of you don't drive, but you can still see the signs around.
Anyway, what's petrol like where you are now? Average here North of the Swan River is $1.07. I actually saw $1.06 fuel earlier, so if you take off your 4 cents discount you're almost on $1.00 fuel.
Right now fuel is the cheapest it's been since I've had my license, and it works out good since I just got my Commodore recently XD! I still want it to come down more.
I fueled up today and it cost me $63 to do my whole tank. I paid $1.13 for premium.

When I was younger, I recall it being outrageous for the price of petrol to be over a dollar (I think I was in QLD at the time).

El Rab When I was younger, I recall it being outrageous for the price of petrol to be over a dollar (I think I was in QLD at the time). It's outrageous for it to be over a dollar now. I worked it out from what people in America are paying, converted gallons to liters and American dollars to Australian dollars, and even with our dollar being so weak, we should be paying around 70 cents right now. Worst part is, our petrols are made from Aussie oil, which means we should pay no more than 20 cents a liter like every other country who makes all of their own petrols. I remember when I was 14, driving the truck 500 meters up the road then around a corner and into a petrol station. I thought I was so cool LOL Anyway, I think I fueled it up for like 60 odd cents per liter. I also remember filling up one day when it was $1.73 a liter. Luckily that was in my work car so I didn't have to pay that bill XD

Aussie Kitty 93 Thankfully the price doesn't affect me. Actually, it does. Anything you buy has been freighted using petrol, so the more expensive petrol is, the more expensive food, clothes ect are at the shops. I also saw Petrol for 96.9 cents today. That was AFTER a 4 cent discount though.

Mwahaha I'll just take my horse everywhere... And if I hitch her up outside a pub then the bartender/owner has to provide her with water if I ask... Just another random bit of trivia for you =P

Actually, I was pleased to hear the drop. I NEVER thought we'd see petrol bellow a dollar again. I mean, once I saw it at 1.70!!!

Ahh yes, I do remember the price that high. I wonder what the cost relationship between cars and my horse would be... I would imagine less money but more time with my horse in comparison to cars.

Well, not directly affecting, but how bout this
Higher Petrol Prices --> More Shipping Cost and Production Cost for Horse Feed --> High Horse Feed Prices?

Just grow your own horse food!!! It's not particularly hard. Or buy things locally which reduces shipping cost.

Garethp Actually, I was pleased to hear the drop. I NEVER thought we'd see petrol bellow a dollar again. I mean, once I saw it at 1.70!!! I know. I'm actually going to take some photos of it below a dollar to show my kids some day, because I think that this will be the last time we see it go below. Also, oil is rumored to drop to $25US a barrel soon, and if our dollar keeps strengthening, we might see petrol for 70 cents yet.

The government should drop the excise on the petrol. They get 45 cents out of every liter we buy.

Considering that we only JUST missed out on going red for our national funds, I feel that whatever Labor it doing now is well justified. And not to mention the fact that all that money comes right back to the people...
