i do hope everyone in this guild believes the big bang theory to be a complete and idiotic theory sorry had to get it out and if you tend to think other wise just remember wat happens to things when they blow up if u are still in disbelief go to a junkyard get a pile of scrap metal and four tire and but a few pounds of dynamite in there and light it im willing to bet your not gonna have a brand new cadi sitting there just a big crater another thing that bothers people asked wat happened before the "big bang" i can tell u no big bang so nothing happened sorry its been on my mind from some stupid advertisement on tv for a show noone can begin to understand wat happened before the earth was created cause we are bound by time so i would like to think that we would not even know wat infinit is like or eternity till we get there its just very how can i say annoying its just like is there other intelegent beings on other planets? as far as i know for God so loved the world not worlds and if there is such a thing as evolution i would like to ask how come our bodies arent naturally evolving have we as humans reached our most perfect form? and i am gonna say that i dont believe this earth is billions of years old i would like to think more like thousands

ugh! we're learning about this in science! its complete nonsense! we also talked about this at camp, I mean does JUST SCIENCE make us love? Does JUST SCIENCE make the world the way it is? There HAS to be somebody behind the creation of the earth, and it's God. Not to mention, some scientists themselves are having their doubts that the big bang theory is actually true...

Interesting. The Bible says

Genesis 1:1

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

It does not say how God went about this creation, nor does it say how long this took.

Genesis 1:2

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Interesting in that we are not told, by the Bible, how long this circumstance endured. Only that the earth existed in this state for some undefined period of time. We are also not told what else is going on in the greater universe during this undefined period of time.

Genesis 1:3

3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

I find it kind of disturbing that a lot of self proclaimed Christians adamantly insist that creation started here, with this verse when if we actually read the Bible, it did not. Also, as far as I can tell, there is still a possibly undefined period of time here where there was light in this verse before God separates the darkness from the light and creates day and night which doesn't happen until the next verse. That could be an artifact of grammar, or if you believe, as I do, that everything in the Bible is important, that there is more to it than mere grammar.

Genesis 1:4
4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

My God created the universe and My God is not afraid of anything science comes up with. If My God used a 'big bang' or something that science would compare to a big bang to create the universe, it in no way denigrates my God. The Bible is not a users manual to the universe and the sooner Christians remember that the better off their witness for Christ will be.

Also, my God is a God of life. Why wouldn't the universe be full to the brim with life? The Bible is for us. Perhaps we are the only ones who committed original sin? Perhaps we were the only ones in all of creation who needed salvation.

The Bible does not deal, at all, with that topic. This means that any belief you come to regarding it is based upon your own opinions, not anything God has told us in His Holy Word.

Believe what you want about aliens existing elsewhere in the universe but do not make the mistake of giving your personal theories the weight of God's word.

Aliens are not visiting earth but that does not mean that there isn't a universe brimming with life out there and we're just not allowed to visit it because we have a contaigeous disease--sin.

God is a God of life, I cannot imagine limiting Him based upon our own so very incomplete knowledge.

there is life on mars i heard about t they found bacteria from a rock sample but i didnt state life in general i mean intelegent beings such as e.t. and wat not but i look at it this way God spoke it and it was so right why would he need a "big bang" if he can just speak it i know he can do wat he wants but like i said last time i checked explosions cause destruction not creation about the time thingy on creation it says he took 6 days creating the earth therefor the billions of years that science claims to be cannot be true if the latest recorded history is only about 7000 years old do i believe dinosaurs lived on the earth yes but it would been the same time adam and even were on this earth too and before adam and even sinned the dinosaurs would not have been these mindless eating monsters at least not until they sinned

The Bible doesn't say anything at all about other intelligent life save for angels and demons but there is nothing limiting God's creative ability to just us and them.

As for 'explosion', why couldn't God use that to condense things out? Read what is actually there and not what everyone has told you is there or what you think is there and it does not preclude a 'big bang' type of origin. If God said 'exist' and something existed at that moment, the suddenness of it might indeed appear explosive.

I don't know exactly by what mechanism God chose to create the universe. I do know that He created the physical laws that everything in the physical universe follows so it would make sense to me that He would use those same physical laws that He created to achieve other things He wanted.

This is not to say that Science is always right. As a human effort to ferret out facts though, it should not be dismisses out of hand as either an affront to our faith or a threat to God. It is neither.

Science is about facts, and no fact can challenge my God. Any fact can do nothing but glorify my God. Science has no business asking me to 'believe' anything. It is about facts. If it cannot objectively prove, with facts, than it must wait until it can. 'Belief' involves faith and my faith is in God and God alone.

it's always fun to argue with evolutionists and "Big Bang" supporters. If the big bang theory was true, then when we dropped the A bomb on Hiroshima, wouldn't it have just made a bigger city? not to mention, if everyone evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys on the planet? not to mention, if there was a "Big Bang", the explosion would have to be so huge to make the universe, that the radiation would still be too strong to support life. heh heh heh, i feel like debating with an evolutionist now. twisted

I agree with Sapphina. With all the new evidence scientists are finding that shows how old the earth is, it just strengthens my belief in how God created the world. I believe that God, in His infinite wisdom and power, caused the big bang that science talks about. Now, any normal explosion would simply cause destruction, but this God we are talking about. If He decided to use an explosion to create, it would happen. The Bible is full of instances were the impossible is done. When a man is killed and put inside a cave with a rock covering the opening, nothing should happen except decomposition. But, by the power of God, Christ rose and moved the stone, living again. If that can happen, why can't an explosion create life?

Whats?

I asked some Jewish scholars if each day of creation might have meant a period much longer than a 24 hour day, as it says in the bible a day is like a thousand years to God, and a thousand years, a day.

And, they said the word Yom which is used (day) can mean longer than a day, but as it is used in the book of Genesis, in a numbered list (first day, second day), Yom means 24 hour day.

Now, I don't have a problem with miniadaptation, such as getting different species of finches out of one finch, or different big cats out of some kind of root species, and would expect each flora, fauna, etc took time to spread out over the land.

But if it says "day," it means "day." O_o

And yeah...the Big Bang theory is much debated over simply because there is evidence supporting, and evidence against it. It gets taught as "fact" because Un-God forbid that normal learning take place in schools. So unscientific.

I would agree that the days in Genesis are defined as days, however the days don't start until verse 5, technically when the day is defined. Which leaves 3-4 verses where the Bible tells us God is doing things but does not define the time involved.

As I've said...many, many, many times. And will probably have to say many, many, many times more.
