I'm sure many of you who enter the 'Release Your Muse' subforum was thinking the above when you clicked.
In Greek mythology, the Muses (Ancient Greek αἱ μοῦσαι, hai moũsai: perhaps from the Proto-Indo-European root men- "think") are a sisterhood of goddesses or spirits, their number set at nine by Classical times, who embody the arts and inspire the creation process with their graces through remembered and improvised song and stage, writing, traditional music, and dance. Not only are the Muses explicitly used in modern English to refer to an inspiration, as when one cites his/her own artistic muse, but they are also implicit in words and phrases such as "amuse", "museum", "music", and "musing upon".
This forum is for submitting works of art, be it literature, pictures, poems, songs, or whatever it is that drives you.
Please remember though the Gaia Standard Rules. Not all our members are adults. Please put what age group you think the story is appropriate for. Other than that, let your creativity guide you.
For books/stories: What you plan to do with it. Title: Book blurb: (the paragraph or so on the back of books) Rating:
For Poems/ Art: What you plan to do with it. What inspired you: Title: Rating:
Calliope, Erato, Euterpe, Polymnia, & Thalia's Domain: This 5 are the muses of poetry (The Greeks managed to subcategorize it so they needed 5 Muses instead of 1 or 2. >.<)
Terpsichore's Domain: Muse of Song and Dance.
There doesn't seem to be a Muse of Literature, which is okay because we can just steal whichever one we want twisted . Go ahead and make your own thread for those.
