What does being an ally mean to you?

If you're an ally, what does it mean to you? What types of behaviors would you expect from yourself and other allies?
If you're not an ally, what kind of behaviors would you expect or want from an ally?

Is there a code of "rules" to being an ally, or are we all just winging it?

I have a bit of a high expectation for allies, actually. I believe that allies should defend GLBTQAAetc rights whereever they are, including places that it could get them hurt and or ostracized. I believe that they should stand up for people in the community, join us in our marches and protests, and take an active role in winning us our rights

Support for GLBT friends and family, and taking an active role in the community's fight for rights.

So. Be a good friend. And an activist.
that's my definition
