In many areas of the world, Lesbians are far so more accepted into the general society and community than gay men are. Many homophobic or insecure men say things like "I'm all for gay marriage as long as it's between two chicks. THAT'S HOT rofl ! But two guys, hell nah, they'll try to touch me"

I've always thought this sort of bias to be a bit ridiculous, especially from guys thinking it's hot. HELLO--we're lesbians. Therefore- YOU. WILL. NEVER. BE. INVOLVED. talk2hand omg.

Thoughts?

Maaan. We give women more oppertunities and try to bring ourselves down for you people. And what do women do to us? Tell us we are doing bad things. for shaaame. hahaha. ^_^ Sarcasm of course

But I don't know. I think of it more as a joke really. That people can be "accepting" and then quickly turn the tables. And not necessarily for for the reason of it being "hot" and what not. But just that it's weird to me that people often vote and make opinion of things that don't concern them in the least bit. What do I care what another person does with a person of the same gender? it doesn't concern me in my view. But of course, that is just a bit of a bias view toward the situation as a whole.

I have seen that. My ex was a bi male, and people would be like LOL ASHLEY"S BI that's HAWT and then when they found out he was, they'd either stay silent and be awkward, or they'd be like EWWW. Which I always thought was REALLY ridiculous. But a lot of it has to do with the fact that our media and our society has pretty much trained guys to think that lesbians are hot.

Don't you think the media is not totally at fault in this case though? I mean, I can't help like feel that many put it on themselves with artists who allow themselves to sing lyrics about kissing girls and liking it, though I think that bashes the community more than anything. I mean... More or less, the female community tends to be dragged down just as much as the black community with the lyrics that support cultural stereotypes that we like to shop and eat chicken and support experimenting as a lesbian or something.

I mean.. doesn't it seem like women in general let these things happen for the sake of money or some form of lust/greed? Granted it is the male-population that feeds off of it in a general sense. But doesn't it seem like women could go farther if they didn't destroy themselves in the process?

oh mah gosh. I HATE THAT SONG *punches Kate Perry*

For real. Someone should put that girl out of her misery.

I do see that though, even though my feminist friends would be all like OMG KRISTA WTF buttt for real- the society is like one big vicious cycle, no?

unfortunatly yes. But if anything, it gives me more entertainment as a straight white middle-class male. Lol.

Honestly, I think that we take things a little far at times and don't really reflect on how things could be different. I mean, sure we can add things that make us all different in some sort of way. But don't you think that when you do it so much that it makes a stereotype in itself?

umm well one of the reasons is because there have been studies done proving homosexuality and bisexuality in women but not in men. now i'm not saying that i believe all men are straight i'm just saying those against gay gays will use this to say that lesbians are ok but gay guys aren't. also its due to the male dominated society. a lot of men find lesbians hot therefore its ok but then their masculinity comes into the picture with gay and bi men and they go ewww. its all gender roles and gender stereotypes. men must me "masculine" and buggering each other isn't "masculine" but two girls making out is still "feminine." goddamn screwed up society.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2008 7:06 am

of course, me being joking and an a*****e, as usual. But how is two women being together not feminine? that's like the ultimate form of being feminine *runs away playfully*

But as for the society part, don't you think it is one's own responsibility to not try and be "with" the society in some sense, but to just work along side it while being yourself? I am not saying the way society is acting is the right way, nor giving any opinion of any others. But don't you think that if things like that become bothering at all, it's time you make either a change to yourself or try to work with the other people to let them understand your view?

Now I say changing yourself because I have known alot of lesbians who decided they were going to be upfront about it and get in people's faces with the pride colors in hand, claiming that if you aren't gay, your a bad person in some form or another. Hell. I've fought one of those gay pricks before because he tried to pull the homo-hater card on me and I didn't back down when he decided to push me. So obviously there are differences between the wants of a society and groups. Everyone wants something different and it's the job of everyone in my opinion to find a compromise. Meaning working along side with the people you don't like to get those views noticed.

Actually, speaking of what Evil is saying a bit--my best friend goes to a community college nearby, and his school has a GSA--HOWEVER--they seem to have missed the S part. lol. They're kind of crazy, and run around bashing the straight people and calling them breeders.

So...yeah. wtf.

God damn there parents for.. you know.. ********.

But yes. That is what I am getting at. Groups like that who force a fascist-mentality among there peers to get there way via angst and disturbance do not make there views heard. That is probably one reason why I hate alot of feminists and vegitarians.. Because they push a belief on you that you can work with.. and then keep pushing even after you have agreed with there opinion. Ya know? I agree with feminists entirely. Let's read some George Carlin for a moment ^_^

Quote:
As I said, I got nothing against the feminists.
In fact, I happen to agree with most of the feminist philosophy I have read.
I agree for instance, that for the most part, men are vain, ignorant, greedy, brutal assholes who've just about ruined this planet
...who've just...who've just about ruined this planet because they're afraid someone might have a bigger d**k out there somewhere.
Men are basically insecure about the size of their dicks and so they go to war over it.
You don't have to be a political scientist or a history major to see the bigger d**k foreign policy theory at work.
It goes something like this..."what they have bigger dicks? Bomb them!!!"
And of course the bombs and the bullets and the rockets are all shaped like dicks.
I don't understand that part of it, but it is part of the equation.
So I agree with that abstract. That man... men...males have pushed the technology that just about has this planet in a stranglehold.
Mother Earth raped again, guess who..."hey she was asking for it."

I also happen to like it when feminists attack these fat-a** housewives who think there's nothing more to life that sitting home on the telephone,
drinking coffee, watching TV and pumping out a baby every nine months.
P-poom, p-poom, p-poom, p-poom, p-poom...will seven be enough Bob?
...p-poom, p-poom. But what's the alternative? What's the alternative to pumping out a unit every nine months?
Pointless careerism? Pointless careerism? Putting on a man-tailored suit with shoulder pads and imitating all the worst behavior of men?
This is the noblest thing that women can think of?
To take a job in a criminal corporation that's poisoning the environment and robbing customers out of their money?
This is the worthiest thing they can think of? Isn't there something nobler they can do to be helping this planet heal?
You don't hear much about that from these middle-class women.
I've noticed that most of these feminists are white middle-class women.
They don't give a s**t about black women's problems.
They don't care about Latino women.
All their interested in is their own reproductive freedom...and their pocketbooks.
But, when it comes to changing the language, I think they make some good points,
because we do think in language and so the quality of our thoughts and ideas could only be as good as the quality of our language.
So maybe some of this patriarcho s**t ought to go away.
I think spokesman ought to be spokesperson.
I think chairman ought to be chairperson.
I think mankind ought to be human kind, but they take it too far, they take themselves too seriously,
they exaggerate.
They want me to call that thing in the street a personhole cover.
I think that's taking it a little bit too far.
What would you call a lady's man, a person's person?
That would make a He-man an It-person.
Little kids would be afraid of the boogieperson.
They'd look up in the sky and see the person in the moon.
Guys would say come back here and fight like a person.
And we'd all sing "for it's a jolly good person."
That's the kind of thing you would hear on late-night with David Letterperson.
You know what I mean? So...so I think it's an exaggeration and I like to piss off any group that take's itself a little bit too seriously.
An it does not take a lot of imagination to piss off a feminist.
All you gotta do is run into NOW headquarters or Ms. magazine and say,
"hey, which one of you cute little cupcakes wants to come home and cook me a nice meal and give me a b*****b!" "b*****b!"
Oh. Oh, that pisses them off. You want to piss off a feminist, call her a c**-catcher.
That'll get her attention. Aww don't act disgusted. Don't act disgusted.
Half of you are going to go home and go down on each other tonight remember?
If you're willing to swallow c**, let's not make believe something I said was disgusting. Okay? Huh?
All right, let's not have a double standard here, one standard will do just fine.

I know alot of that had nothing to do with this conversation. I just like to enjoy things with lots of fun ^_^ Hee hee.

I love George Carlin but I really hate the modern feminists I mean yeah when it first came around it was for a just cause...suffrage and feminism earned women the right to choose between family and career and it opened up many jobs that were closed to women but now its been twisted and contorted to say that women are better than men and as such should be the rulers over men which in my opinion is a load of bull. Now because I want to stay at home and take of any kids that I have in future I'm anti-feminist. Sorry for taking it off topic sweatdrop

I think you have a good point though. I just can't stand the idea people that think equality is being able to hit just as hard as the way the other side did in the past. I'm not defending men in the least bit for our actions. But I think women can hardly pull that feminist attitude on me since I wasn't alive, nor were many of them, for the acts that had taken place. Ya know?

(If either of you would like to start a feminism debate thread, please feel free to. However, either leave the first post without opinion, or leave both a positive and negative standpoint for discussion in the first post)

One thing that always puzzled me is that guys are SO afraid of homosexuals, and I've found are a lot more threatened or afraid of gays than women are. It seems that they feel it threatens their masculinity, or something. It's almost as if men aren't as comfortable in their own sexuality
PostPosted: Fri Dec 12, 2008 11:39 am

Sorry about that sweatdrop okay this post is on topic...

Alot of times straight men are very insecure in their masculinity but thats not every straight male or even most of them...anyway I think in those cases the guys are afraid that they'll get turned gay at least that's the case with some of the guys I've encountered...I don't know about the guys everone else has come across though(If this sounds like I'm making generalizations I'm really sorry v_v because I wasn't trying to).
