I've just started a Live action Roleplay set in the 1430's (England).
I'm currently making the first part of my costume proper - the cloak.
I've done some reasearch on fashion for the period and based my design on what I found.
currently, I'm hemming the material, ready for the decorations to be added.
I'm using a bright orange silk which will have pearl beads sewn onto it, and the brooch holding it is a pearl brooch of a design appropriate for the era.
I know bright orange may seem a little much, but my research shows that bright colours with lots of metal and stones was in fashion.
I'm also going to put a trim on the visible hems (mainly to hide my lacklustre sewing abiliy) but I'm not 100% sure if I should use fur or fabric.
I'll get some pictures up when I get my camera fixed.
Once I've done the cloak, I'm gonna look at working on a dress - but until then, any advice, tips or comments would be appreciated.
