Welcome to your first lesson in Creative Writing. I will be your instructor, Professor Rye. The classes may seem simple enough, but I will assure you, it wil take every last drop of creative juices in your head if you want to pass this class. Go ahead and sit down anywhere you like, and I shall explain the rules of this class.
First: Be creative. I cannot stress this rule enough. If anything you write seems plagiarized, or even not particularly original, you will receive a very poor grade.
First, the revision: Upon further deliberation, I have altered this rule. Feel free to use pre-existing characters, settings and plot devices. This was primarily done based on the seemingly popularity of 'fan fiction' stories. You still must be original and creative, but feel free to utilize what you need to make a good story. Also, if you do use other people's intellectual properties, then be sure to explain any necessary information in a footnote, which does NOT count as part of the paper's word limit.
Second: Grammar and spelling are musts. I will point out virtually every grammatical error I see, so do not make many if you can help it.
Third: If you need an extension, just ask. The final product is what's important here, not if you can write fast enough. Speedy writing is certainly good, but hardly necessary.
Fourth: No coarse language. This should be simple enough to follow. Imagine everything you write will be read by your grandmother. A little swearing will be allowed if it fits in the flow of your stories, but anything else will likely get you more trouble than you care to imagine.
Fifth: Attendance is not required every day, I merely ask that you make your presence known two or three times a week. Any less will reflect poorly upon your dedication, and that would be detrimental to your overall school progress.
Sixth: Have fun. This class is purely voluntary, so I hope this will come to you naturally. If not, then at least pretend like you are, if only for my sake.
Do you understand all the rules? Good, then let's begin.
Special Temporary Seventh Notice: For the time being, this class is suspended, until such a time as I see fit to return to my teaching duties. As such, no homework is assigned, and no grades will be handed out. I have no expected return time, unfortunately, so just check back with this thread every so often to see if it is returned to active status.
