The city of Newwyn was the largest city in the world. People came from other ends of the continent to learn from Coracre University, watch the fantastic gladiator fights, or just to see what else there was to offer. When the Arch-Duke ordered a new mine be opened in the center of the city, they discovered something incredible. A vast network of tunnels hundreds of feet below their feet. Explorers were sent to see what was down there, and they didn't disappoint. Only three days later they came back with bag fulls of crystal. This crystal had never been seen before, and was found to have astounding magical properties. Newwyn began to gather as much of these crystals as they could, selling them to anyone who would by them. After a few years, Newwyn was the richest city in the world. It's lower class was richer than most other cities' upper class. This drew even more people there, hoping that they would also get some wealth. But things changed soon after. One night, strange chanting began. No one could find the source, and before long, light began to glow out of the earth itself. A second later, it all ended. It wasn't long before city guards noticed that the outer limits of the city had changed. The farms were still there, but there was also a new range of mountains. Mountains that made any others look like anthills. In the distance they could see ruins, and the camps from numerous tribes of some of the lesser races. And there were no other cities for miles around. But the insides of Newwyn were exactly the same. Everyone who was in there before, was still there, all the buildings were still standing, and even the tunnels underneath were present. Wizards, scholars, and historians began to search for an answer, but none came. There was no way to get them back to where they came from.

Social Classes and Jobs
Social Classes: Noble Upper Middle Lower Slave
Jobs: Your character could have any job you can think of. They could own a bar, be a gladiator slave, a retired general, or even a political leader. Whatever you can come up with.
But here are a few that would be important to have. For these ones, there are a limited number of slots (I will say how many are open). So, you claim it first, you get it.
House Leaders: Nine openings left There are nine noble houses in this city. Each one has control over a certain area and a main type of business (selling magical goods, providing military, etc). If you choose to be the leader the house is named after you character's last name, and you get to choose the type of business. When someone chooses this job I will add the House info onto the post on extra city info. After a house has been taken, other people can join that house, but that means they are related to any others in that house and must have the same last name.
Arena Owners: Ten openings left The arena is the main form of entertainment. The owners are very rich people who constantly need to buy slaves and catch monsters so people can watch the daily bloodshed.
Arch Duke/Duchess: One opening left The leader of the city. This person will naturally be a very powerful individual and is just about the richest person in the city. If someone has already taken this job and you want to be a member of the royal family, ask them first.
These next jobs are not required, but they are just some suggestions. Professors of the University Adventurers/Explorers Mercenaries Slaves/Gladiators Merchants Soldiers

The City: Noble Houses: The political and business leaders of the city. There are nine houses that are yet to be determined by players who form them. Coracre University: The only school in the city that goes past basic education. It specializes in training arcane students, but also has a few divine and primal classes. Gladiator Arenas: Here powerful war slaves are forced to fight in groups of four against monsters to keep themselves alive. Each group has to share a cell and bathroom. While they are in the cells they wear indestructible necklaces that inhibit magic, divine, and primal power. They are allowed to train as much as they want (as long as there are no fights going on at the time). After many years, some prisoners are released, though very few live that long. Tunnels: A vast underground system of tunnels resides under the city. They reach down into the ground for hundreds of miles and are filled with many dangers. But people still go in for the rare crystals that can be found there. These crystals are worth thousands of gold pieces each and are the main source of income for the city. Orc Tribes: There are two large, savage orc tribes right outside the city who are currently caught in a war. Scouting parties, military units, and explorers constantly end up stuck in these fights. Undead: Every few weeks a band of undead raids the outskirts for no apparent reason. They usually kill a few people and drag them off into the wilderness. Ruins: A few miles from Newwyn borders sits the ruins of some ancient city. Lately people have heard chanting coming from the ruins every couple nights. When people are sent to find out what is going on they usually either come back insane or don't come back at all. Royal Palace: The home of the royal family. It is a large castle that sits on top of the highest point in Newwyn.
