Service Projects for the holidays:

My family has started a tradition that we go down to the Operation Christmas Child factory and help wrap the sent boxes to be sent out all over the world. We have a blast! OCC is a project that has people from all over America assemble a shoe box full of toys, soap, toothbrushes, combs, clothes, whatever you can fit into a shoe box. The boxes are then wrapped and sent over seas to the poor areas of the world for a child to have what is probably their only Christmas present ever. Millions of boxes are sent each year. At the factories, we go through the boxes to make sure there are no forbidden items such as toy guns, money, liquids, or anything sharp; fill the boxes to the brim with donated toys if it is needed; then wrap the boxes and pack them in a shipping container to be sent out. It is so fun volunteering your services to do this. We also get ideas each year as to what to put in our boxes. My family has assembled shoe boxes for as long as I can remember, but only recently have we begun voluteering at the factory. Any help is greatly appreciated.

biggrin That's great! Thanks for donating. My family also does a Star Program where we buy presents for young girls in a group home off of their own lists, getting them what they want. It's fun giving to others. ^_^
