Australia has lots of funny laws and regulations that nowhere else in the world has. Some of them are funny, and some are just strange.

For example:

- It is illegal to ride a push bike without a helmet.
- You can't ride a push bike or ride a horse when drunk.
- All bars must supply water for your horse if you want to tie it up out front while you're inside.
- On WA freeways and highways, it's illegal to do more than 20kph under the speed limit (I actually like this one).

Heres something weird:
Age of consent:
ACT, NSW, VIC, WA and NT the age of consent is 16
In SA and TAS the age of consent is 17
In QLD the age of consent is 16 but 18 for a**l sex!! Obviously QLD govt want them to be more experienced before they try anything TOO kinky

Some other ones are that:
On roads horses have right of way
It is illegal to ride a bike on a pathway if you are older than 12
If you ride a bike on the road you can get fined for exceeding the speed limit!

This makes me so mad. Probably one of my biggest hates is bloody cyclists on the road. Trying to pass them on a narrow main road in peak hour is annoying. then you stop at the lights and they come past you and you have to do it all again... I just put my wheels an inch from the kerb to stop them getting past me >=D

Have you ever seen Charles street in North Perth? Such skinny lanes and there's always some stupid cyclist there at 8AM and either a bus too wide to go past or a driver too unsure to go past and me in my work van getting mad trying to get into the other lane...

You can get done for drink driving if you're sleeping in your car with the keys inside the car. If you have a few beers and want to do the right thing and sleep in the car instead of driving home, you have to hide your key somewhere outside the vehicle.

We, as Australians, have some really ******** up laws... My favourite quote from the "DriveSafe" guidebook is :
'When entering curves at night slow down and drive carefully.'

Don't lie and say you didn't laugh at this

Sad thing is that there would be a reason they put that there. Like the woman who put her car on cruise control and went to sleep thinking it would steer for her. Now all car instruction manuals tell you that cruise control only keeps you at a constant speed.

Perfectly valid point, but that quote is still amusing XD

I think I remember somewhere reading that you should turn your headlights on when driving at night xd

When the mandatory filtering scheme comes into play (of which it hopefully does not; quick everyone - sign the petition!); I will be complaining about it.
Stupid scheme will make our internet connections even slower than it already is; and the actual filtering won't stop child pornography and their followers because the filters can easily be bypassed via bittorrent and other peer-2-peer. :O

Yeah. 'cause of all the people that get hit buy cars 'cause they can't ride on sidewalks.
