"What an extraordinary place..."
Dimitri could not help but say aloud as he stepped on nothingness that formed into earth temporarily only to fade away as his foot vacated the spot moments after.
In his studies within the Holy Citadel, he had read such places existed within the world, small pockets of extra-dimensional space that was essentially the primal form of all existence.

He took another step and stopped where he stood, looking around and not feeling any breeze, no air movements, though the air was present, it was very still and calm. The absence of the winds made him yearn for the lofty hillocks of the Shining Foothills. Then, suddenly, the immediate area around him began to change shape and consistency. No more than a few yards around him, but nevertheless, the small area had become a resemblance of his beloved Foothills, with rolling green grass on top of craggy hillside with a swift and eager breeze coming through.

Dimitri laughed and could not contain his smile. He gazed at the grass and thought of how this was the place he had met that wonderful woman who had given him purpose in life.

"Gabrielle," he said under his breath, reminiscing.

He glanced around, but disappointed, the alluring woman was nowhere to be found.

So, it's as I thought. This astral pocket can mimic life and elements, but it cannot conjure up that which has a soul and a will of its own...

He chuckled for a moment and then sat down by one of the newly formed rocks, resting his blade beside him.

If he was going to wait for his opponent, he would be enjoying the scenery while he waited.

The wait wasn't long ((Haha...)) for the Holy Knight... for as the presence of the troll entered this strange space, the scene noticeably shifted into it's primordial form, with only a small platform keeping both the Troll and his opponent from an abyss of darkness.
The smile loomed in the dark as blank eyes peered at his opponent.
He must be one of power, if he truly were here to face Yata.
Odds against no one in this strange face... it was obvious Both fighters had overcome much to be where they are at this moment.
Yata himself, had died, been reborn, and aided a red guard in the tournament's absence... and even the tournament had put him through some strange adventures.
Yata was tall, but cast no shadow over his opponent, who seemed to leisurely sit upon the stage.
This was good... the more lax Yata's opponent was, the better for Yata.

"I see you took no time to wait for me."
The rather smug tone of the large, purple troll said to his opponent.
Crossed arms and lax motive, the Dream Troll Yata'Morphii waited till his opponent was presentable.

Dimitri glanced up at his opponent with some minor disdain. He was no more intimidating than his previous foes he had faced within the tournament, and certainly less fearsome in manner than the unstable fallen angel whom nearly ended his existence.

Calling to mind the memory of the winds of the Shining Foothills, he simply lifted himself up leisurely with the assistance of the breeze, drawing him to almost the troll's height. Dimitri was tall for a human, though his sheer bulk was less than his opponent. Looking at the troll with some curiosity, he came to the conclusion that due to the rapid nature he had managed to dismiss Dimitri's carefree conjuration of the Foothills from earlier the troll was clearly an intelligent being, possibly even psychic in nature, similar to the werewolf he had fought at the beginning of the tournament.

"Well, you certainly took your time arriving. It is good that you have come at last, even though you interrupted my enjoyment of my favorite relaxation site. Lengthy introductions aside, I am Dimitri Solidari, Knight of the Holy Light. Whom might you be, troll?"

"My name is Yata'Morphii... I am of the Dawn Striders..."
The troll examined his opponent , indeed he was tall, but Yata still looked down upon him with his sheer height. His smile widened a bit, showing the deeper edges of his dagger-like maw. Another Holy Knight it would seem... though his aura rather gave it away, it was good for re-assurance.

"I doubt you will want to waste any time, knight..." A purple-ish aura surrounded Yata's right hand glowed deep purple as he reached into the aether, making a small dimensional rift as he slowly pulled out a sinister looking weapon: The Dream Halberd, tinted with purple blades and gray outlines. Stabbing the spear end of the Halberd into the ground, he pulled his right sleeve up, revealing a bracer with a dial on the bottom. He turned the dial on the bracer, and the once gray colored outline turned purple.

"...Now then..." Yata said, lifting the Halberd back into his grasp.
"...Shall we begin?"

Examining the large weapon with a raised eyebrow, Dimitri grinned at the troll's boldness. The edge of the weapon was clearly enchanted or poisoned, or both.

In the blink of an eye, his notched broadsword was in his hands, as if it had been there the entire time. A gleam of light ran down the rigid depression in the blade's head, shining at each corner.

Though the Holy knight's armor had been destroyed in the last round, he was still very confident in the silkstone clothing that he had purchased within the dwarven city of Proudanvil. The clothing was as light as mithril and nearly as tough to pierce. It had cost him a fortune to craft such a magnificent piece of tailoring, but it had been worth every copper.

Looking back at his peculiar opponent, he stood erect and looked into that unusual visage and returned his grin and for a split second, he believed he saw the troll falter in his boisterous appearance though it soon faded just as his own smile faded as Dimitri's voice soon took a serious tone.

"I am curious, Yata. In this tournament I have faced against a werewolf, a vampire and a fallen angel, all of which are condemned by default by my faction. Each of which I attempted to change their ways before I defeated them. You however are in the gray area in which our code dictates what is right and wrong. Even though I am more of a morally gray knight myself as far as my values are concerned, you strike me as someone who has a great deal more to themselves than the surface appearance conveys. My purpose in participating in this tournament was to find a purpose for myself beyond sticking to the pretense of my faction and hunting down the unrighteous and evil... and for another, I search as well..." his thoughts trailed back to Gabrielle for only a split second before continuing,"I am curious, Yata, what purpose does a troll have here? Even one aligned to the Dawn Striders? Money? Fame? Or is there something more?"

"My purpose you say?" The toll said with an amusing tone. Though they spoke now, Yata was neigh distracted, but he'd suppose a few words would do no harm towards his battle. The Holy Knights stuck to a strict code, an was unlikely to act in such dishonorable ways as to catch their enemies unawares. Not that it were remotely possible, for Yata's case.

"What a philosophic question... I commend you for your attempt at insight, but I'm afraid even I might not be able to answer you truthfully..."
The trolls sharp smile stood strong as he took a small pause, perhaps to think.

"...but I suppose if it will satiate your knowledge's hunger... I'll answer you with the only thing I can think of at the moment."
The troll paused once more, his empty gaze at his opponent steadfast.

"I really have no purpose... Money? I have all the money I'd ever need... and fame, neither do I want or need it... So I suppose I entered this tournament, because I could..." The dream troll tipped the spear end of his Halberd at Dimitri. "...and to defeat those who would dare give me a challenge." Yata ended his little speech, letting the silence take over once more. Word's were so...unnecessary, and even the everlong patience of the troll seemed to waver as the itch of an incoming battle reared it's head. He was curious to know what he was up against, if such a person had made it this far.

"Fair enough," the Holy Knight said with a wry smile.

Glancing around at the void that was their surroundings, he turned his view back to Yata and called out, "Allow me to set the first stage of our grand finale. Assuming we are both standing in a short while, I implore you to change the surroundings to something more along your favor, not only to make it fair, but to make it enjoyable for both of our ever-so-slightly tainted souls."

His smile faded and he called to mind the flaming ruins that had been the product of his last encounter. A city of darkness crumbled into debris, ablaze with towering flames and heat, though he pictured a far more triumphant sky than that which adorned his previous battle, one that was bright and shining.

The primal void transformed into the manipulated memory, reacting wildly then taking shape into its own mix of destruction and righteous majesty.

Passively absorbing the thermal energy from the surroundings, Dimitri's body began to glow as it always did when performing such an act.

Looking to his enemy, he called out as his feet set ablaze and making his fiery charge with his broadsword at his head,
"I shall not fail!"

Yata prepared himself, as the surroundings changed to that of the burning city with the bright sky, so Did Yata act. Taking a defensive stance with his Halberd, he conjured up memory of his own battle...the first one. All around the city, hills adorned the grassy plain on the ground, making the buildings move to make a sort of large ring around the two fighters. The gravel ground then turned to grass. Open area.
Yata, with significant force, charged Dimitri head on, prepared to clash blades against his opponent.
The impact at such speeds and energy, would be quite massive.

Flying through the air slightly above the ground, soaring towards the troll who had just lifted up and begun a similar charge, Dimitri called the winds to his aid and began spiraling in circular motion while remaining on course, absorbing the heat from around him in combination with the friction that his body was now causing, the whirling projectile that he had become caught ablaze.

With one sudden jerk, the Holy Knight dove this tornado of flames into the ground, disintegrating the fabricated earth beneath him. Descending into its cold depths, he rose again, changing his angle of elevation. He then burst from the rocky surface like a volcano, appearing behind Yata and his charge.

Roaring with the ferocity of a lion, he channeled all the energy from that spectacular move into his blade, the edges erupting in flames and light, then began whirling once more, though this time remaining stationary. His speed increased and with one final spin, he unleashed a wave of fiery wrath from the sword which would bathe the horizon in flames, and with any luck, his opponent with it.

"I commend you!" Yata said as the Holy Knight popped up behind Yata, who had not stopped charging. Dimitri, however, would find it quite hard to catch the troll unawares. Even through the ground, Yata could feel the knights mental signature seeping through the ground, showing him location by location where his opponent dug through. When Dimitri launched the vicious screen of fire in Yata's direction, The troll was only to flip, his Halberd stabbing into the ground and giving an extra boost into the air as the attack was dodged in full.
Yata, however, took no time to waste as he turned his bracer at his opponent, firing a small barrage of needles in his opponents path, super-fast and slick barbs of steel that could not be caught by mortal eye at such speed.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 11, 2009 7:22 pm

He wasn't certain what it was, but he was certain that he did not want to find out what his opponent had just launched in his direction after dodging his own wave of flame. The hand motion was far too quick for any type of spell, thus confirming that it was in fact a projectile or multiple objects.

Acting quickly, Dimitri drew his arm back then thrust his palm forward and called the winds to his aid again, also asking for the aid of the holy light he erected a barrier of air reinforced by righteous energy. The orb formed around his person, becoming solid and glowing bright.

Not a split second later, the Holy Knight was staring at multiple needle-like darts that clinked against the barrier of light, even causing a small crack in the upper portion of the orb. As the projectiles fell from the barrier, he quickly dismissed the protective shield and returned his gaze to his opponent who was still eyeing him with the same devious grin.

"I'll give you something to smile about," he said with a grin of his own.

A loud click was heard as he pushed his blade upwards, separating the broadsword into its two halves, taking one into each hand, he began absorbing the heat from the area once again and transferred the energy into his joints and muscles.

With a jolt, he burst out sprinting once again, leaving a trail of fire in his wake. Bounding off the side of one of the outlying burning buildings, he leaped through the air and began to descend on the troll from above.

Yata could hold his grin better than his opponent, however, especially after the Knight would realize how useless physical attacks really were against him.
Stabbing the Dream Halberd into the ground, Yata lifted his hand to the air above him in a rather lax manner, his blank, devious grin staring not at the incoming holy knight, but where he used to be.
His palm, however, faced the knight and his blades head on.
Purple energies spiraled over Yata's palm, creating a shield large enough to cover a good five foot radius over Yata. This, however, was only precautionary.
A disk shaped wave of purple energy shot out of the shield, it's aim to damage Dimitri's insides, as well as to throw him off balance as his rapid decent onto Yata's powerful psychic barrier neared. Yata's attack was fast and deadly, ready to hit it's ever incoming mark.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 11, 2009 8:58 pm

Seeing the energy form beneath him, he knew he had no way of diverting his descent in time to dodge the attack. Improvising on the hunch that due to the troll's intellectual nature and appearance was due to some psychic aptitude, he pulled all the kinetic energy stored within his body and redirected it towards his heart and mind, preventing any crippling damage at least, softening whatever blow that might be.

Knowing this attack would have to count, he continued his soaring dive, willing the winds to double the intensity and speed. Yata would need to react in a split second if that barrier of his was breached, Dimitri half-hoped he would.

Then it hit, only two seconds prior to Dimitri's collision with the shield, the psychic barrage rippled through the scholarly knight's body to an excruciating degree. The mind magic came perilously close to piercing his kinetic defenses guarding his heart and mind. Despite the disruptive effect of the attack, it fueled Dimitri's anger, adding to his ferocity as he brought both of his blades together then crashed into the psychic shield, sending rays of light in all directions. If those wind-enhanced blades could break that barrier...

Yata's grin broadened as he felt his energy hit it's mark. Dimitri would now soon start feeling a small exhaustion in energy as the drowsy effect of the blast sunk in, as well as the organ crippling effect of the blast.
Yata, however, had quite big trouble now.
Attempting to reinforce the shield with his free hand, he added a decent amount of energy to the mix, ready to take the blast from his opponents fierce and energy driven attack.
As the forces collided, Yata's shield held strong, but the impact sent Yata hunched as he tried to support himself onto the earthy ground. The collision had even made a small crater around Yata, but the shield held well... for a few moments.
It was evident, as the large cracks in Yata's purple shield creeped in, that it would not hold for much longer. Yata, thinking as quickly as possible, teleported out of the small crater to a few feet away, staying on a knee as he watched with his sinister grin ever sharper.

The shield was still there, and his Halberd pointed up under it.
If Dimitri did not act with grand speed, the shield would break, and impale him within the Halberd's spear-end.
