[ Head Boy/Girl ]
One Head Boy and one Head Girl is chosen in their 7th year each school year by the school staff. The Head Boy and Head Girl have all the duties and privileges of Prefects and more. In order to roleplay the Head Boy/Girl, the character must fit the Head Boy/Girl decsription, but moreover, one must be an active and literate roleplayer. One must also be prepared for a bit of responsibility and not let the authority go to their head.
Characters Eligible:
Qualities of a Head Student Quote: Head Boys/Girls are responsible, punctual, hard-working, and pay great attention to detail. They care for the well-being of the students of Hogwarts, and have a desire to do great things, and be helpful to the teachers and staff of Hogwarts. They are those who are natural leaders, who have the ability to take charge in any situation and lead students to safety should the need arise. They are motivators, and good speakers; people who are good at influencing others and seeing that needs are met and fairness and equality is achieved. Duties of a Head Student Quote: Head Students, for the most part, represent the student body, and help staff members make important decisions and enforce rules. They are present at most staff meetings, and have access to the Staff Room (though not for the purposes of 'hanging out'). They are there to lead the students when they need leading, and keep peace and calm in times of emergency. They also help organize all school events, such as dances, sporting events, tournaments, Hogsmeade weekends, and the likes. Head Students, like Prefects, also help patrol the castle when other students are asleep. They perform all the duties of a Prefect. Privileges of a Head Student Quote: Head Students have access to nearly all areas of the Castle. They are allowed out of their common rooms at any hour, unless specifically forbidden. Head Students are included in many staff discussions, and are a part of the decision-making process. They have authority over other students, and may add or subtract House Points as they see fit. As more privileges for Head Students are thought of, they will be put here. [ Prefects ]
For each house, there is a total of 6 prefects, two for each year, 5th and up (with a grand total of 24). Prefects are under the authority of their Head of House and the Head Boy and Girl. In order to roleplay the Prefect, the character must fit the Prefect decsription, but moreover, one must be an active and literate roleplayer.
Characters Eligible:
Qualities of a Prefect Quote: Prefects have all or most of the qualities of a Head Student; they are caring and responsible and their goal is always a job well done. They like to be helpful and in charge, and have good leadership skills. Prefects are always looking out for the younger students in their House, and must be able to calm students and help break up any fights or arguments. Prefects are good students, who maintain good grades in most of their classes, and always struggle to do their best, and help those who ask for it. Duties of a Prefect Quote: Prefects help make sure that every student gets where they need to be. They help to keep the peace between Houses and students, and help organize school events like dances and Quidditch matches and the likes. They help patrol the castle after dark, look after the younger students, and assist staff members in any way they are asked. Privileges of a Prefect Quote: Prefects have access to many areas of the castle that regular students do not. They have authority over younger students in their House. They are allowed out of their Common Rooms later than regular students, and are generally looked up to and respected. [ Team Captains ]
There is only one Quidditch Captain for each House's team. Captains are appointed by an agreement between Madam Hooch and the previous Captain. Experience is one of the requirements, so only fourth years and up who have been on the team for at least 1 year previously. Co-captain(s) may be decided by the Captain, but the title is ultimately unofficial. In order to roleplay a captain, the character must fit the Captain decsription, but moreover, one must be an active and literate roleplayer.
Characters Eligible:
Qualities of a Captain Quote: Quidditch team Captains are dedicated to the sport. They are good leaders as well as good players, and have the ability to influence their team members and encourage them to do their best. They are hard workers, and strive for perfection. Duties of a Captain Quote: Captains are responsible for their House team. They hold tryouts and choose the players themselves, and make sure that the changing rooms are kept clean and organized, and keep track of equipment and make sure that it is kept in top shape. They train their players to be the best that they can, and schedule practices and scrimages, and reserve the Pitch for whenever they need it. Privileges of a Captain Quote: Quidditch Captains have many of the same privileges as Prefects; they are allowed use of the Prefects' bathrooms, and other areas of the castle that are closed to regular students. They are in charge of most aspects of the Quidditch season, such as scheduling games and saying who (on their team) can and cannot play, and they, of course, have authority over their teammates. thanks to Rachel (rachyourface) for quotes.

Name :: Aidan Sebastian Reese House :: Slytherin Year :: 7thPosition Wanted :: Captain (if Captain) Position Played :: Keeper
Qualifications :: Aidan is an excellent Quidditch player, and knows how to get what he wants done, done. Quidditch is one of his favorite things, and his only good addiction. He likes to take charge, and have things done his way.
He can be a bit intimidating when he's 'on a mission'. He knows what makes a Quidditch team succeed. He knows that practice makes perfect and will have his team practice and practice and keep on practicing, because no one likes a loser. He is also very proud of his house, and would work extremely hard to see Slytherin come out on top.
Example :: "Montague get your a** in gear!" he yelled from the goalposts. The kid rolled his eyes and sped off away from Aidan. The sun was shining, the air was fresh and crisp, and they had a match against Gryffindor that they could not lose. Aidan would not be the captian who led his team to lose. Especially not against them.
"Is there something wrong with you, Pucey?" he bellowed at the chaser, who was looking terribly uncomfortable sitting on his broom and just hovering there. He'd just missed the Quaffle flying five feet from him. The little blond boy looked around and flew up to Aidan, to whisper in his ear.
Aidan's bright green eyes flashed dangerously. "You have blisters on your bottom?" he said loudly. A couple of the other players looked 'round at them, and little Adrian Pucey's cheeks flushed as he nodded.
----------------
"I told you, I told you not to mess with my players!"
"Lighten up, Aid, it was just a little fun."
Aidan didn't think it was any fun at all. "You blistered his a** so baldy he could hardly even sit on his broom. Not my players." His silver-haired friend grinned. "How else are they supposed to learn to toughen up?"
"By attending my practices, and actually being able to play, that's how." Aidan shoved past Rain and walked away down the corridor.
[[sorry, that may be a little ooc for rain, but, whatevs, you get the idea]]

Name :: Adela Lorelei Heid House :: Ravenclaw Year :: 6thPosition Wanted :: Prefect
Qualifications :: Although she has a tendency to sit in the background and observe, this actual proves to be something of use to Adela in the position of prefect. By observing things first, she gets a better handle on what is going on and can therefore more accurately decide what is best for the situation at hand. She is a person who tends to try and think things through in their head so as to not worsen a situation she places herself into or is trying to resolve. She strives to understand those in her House and those she finds outside of it, and react in a way benefiting to them--a quality she has been practicing during her six year stay thus far at Hogwarts.
Adela does not easily lash out at students, but would rather quietly resolve any problems she is having with them or that other students are having. There has been a time or two in which she has lashed out--such as the case with Angie in her year and house, and although she has a direct disliking for the girl she would rather try and help this person rather than make their situation even worse. Or if she can't even manage that, at least gain some sort of understanding of her. She tries to be the kind of person that others can feel they can come to--whether it be homework advice, advice in a personal problem, or just someone to rant to with what's going on in their life, as she seems to be having a pretty stable handle on her own life and grades. Although she actually fears getting close to people, she likes to help point them in the right direction.
When it comes to following rules, however, she can be a little more snippy. Adela doesn't at all like rule breaking, and she's not afraid to confront others about it when she sees it. She may not be the type to bark at others, she will certainly be more than happy to give them an explanation, report their actions and warn them that it may result in a detention, then send them to their room (in case of late night wandering), class, or designated seating area. Unless that is where the problem is occuring, in which case she will temporarily move them to avoid any further outbursts. She feels comfortable with addressing teachers with questions on things she may not know how to handle herself.
Example :: I just don't get it! an exasperated Iseul Song was sitting in the common room with another student who was attempting to tutor her in the Accio charm. She looked about ready to give up learning it, and the tutored looked about ready to give up on her. In fact, the boy stood up and said so, then walked off to his dorm in an irritated manner. The girl put her face in her hand and leaned forward on the table she was sitting at. Adela waited a little bit to see if she would try again, and if anyone else was going to help. One rolled their eyes and everyone else seemed ignorant of the situation at hand. So she decided she would try and see if she could help the second year with what she was attempting instead.
Moving to sit next to her with a tiny smile on her face, Adela pulled out her wand and looked about. She saw a book on the other end of the table and decided for that to be a target for the time being. It wasn't only the girl's fault for her failure--she needed an altered way of teaching, and a teacher who wouldn't get frustrated or give up on her so easily. This girl was one who liked things in a precise manner, but was also very hard on themself. She to the girl for a moment, then back to the book. With a quick raise and back to level motion, she said, "Accio book," and the book slowly made it's way over and into Adela's free hand. "It's not easy at first. I know Flitwick gives you certain ways to do something, but it's not always right for everyone. I know it's not always easy to ask the teacher...but it's often best. Find a way for you. Try."
She got up and placed the book back where it formerly had been, then sat back down in her seat as she gave a nod to Iseul. The girl looked a little perplexed, and Adela know what she said was a little strange, but she seemed to shrug and decide to try again any. Accio book! She said as nothing happened. The girl furrowed her brow and did it again, getting it to move a little, but not come to her. The girl looked at Adela and she simply said, "Try again, do it your way," with a patient voice and waited. And again it was attempt, though trying it more Adela's way this time. It rose a little and came about an inch, then fell. Adela watched with a smile as the girl first went down, then up slightly and snapped her wand back to neutral as she called Accio book! This time, though quite wobbly, it made it's way a little over halfway before falling.
A smile slowly lit the girl's face--she was making progress. She soon bit her lip and furrowed her brow again--it wasn't enough for her. It wasn't perfect yet. "Just keep practicing. It takes time. Just keep your mind clear and think about what you're trying to perform. See it happening in your head." Adela got up, watching as Iseul would continue moving it back to its spot and practiced the charm. The sixth year watched for a little while, but grew weary. She had to finish writing her paper that was due in three days, but she wrote about half of it as she didn't want to stay up too late. She couldn't afford to fall asleep in lessons. After that she went to sleep. A week later she ran into the girl again, and couldn't help but ask, "How is your Accio charm going?" The girl smiled at her and said that Flitwick noticed a major improvement, and though it wasn't quite perfect yet, she could get objects within three inches of her.
Other :: nothing else really, except that she'll quite possibly be playing beater for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, and that in previous years she spent a lot of free time training with others. but that's just something random that doesn't really fit.

Name :: Ophelia Adora Ozma House :: Ravenclaw Year :: 6thPosition Wanted :: Captain Position Played :: Center
Qualifications :: Ophelia is a lot of things and a perfectionist is definitely one of them. Much like with anything else she is passionate about, she strives to be the very best. She has been on the team since her third year, and has a great track record in her position as a Center (originally a reserve, due to various problems, but she has since cleaned up her act). Everything she does is very deliberate, even if it is for her own personal gain, and will be willing to work with someone who may be struggling with their job. More than anything she wants Ravenclaw to succeed in an area other than academics.
She is known for being relentless in her practicing. Figuring that if they practice hard, they'll play hard. Though, because of their intense practices, she usually gives them two days rest before an actual game. Thinking that they will need all their energy to beat whatever team they are scheduled to play.
A rather thankless person in general, she does tend to seem rather ungrateful to her plays and always forces them to give more, show more, and be more than they are without so much a pat on the back. Though, she has learned that some people need to be praised, she keeps it to a minimum. Offering the occasional, "Good play!" followed by a "but . . . "
Though she can come across as bossy or domineering, it is all in good measure, Ophelia is just extremely competitive. She is late for just about everything else --- but always shows up on time (and on some days even early) for a Quidditch match.
Example :: Ophelia did not look happy. Actually, she looked like someone had taken a serious dump in her cereal. She had a tight grip on her broom and her face was growing redder by the moment. Her cheeks were puffed out, her lips pursed, and she seemed torn between running off the pitch crying and strangling Rodger Davies. No one could quite figure out what he did, but whatever it was, had her seeing red. Her grip loosened on her broom and it hit the pitch with a soft thud, "Davies! Get down here!" Rolling up her sleeves, she crossed her arms in front of her chest and immediately her toe started tapping and her eyebrow went up.
Davies flew down beside her, "Yes?"
Resisting the urge to hit him, she put her arms around his shoulders, her smile forced, "Try something for me," she held up her hands and Masika passed her the quaffle," Play the rest of the practice left-handed. Believe me, it helps sometimes. Just . . . try to not use your dominant side so much, it leaves your left open. And from what I understand, Melanie Parks has a pretty good left. " she thrust the quaffle into his chest, any sign of her earlier rage completely forgotten.
It was unfair to them that she took out her anger for both her left and seeker not showing up. It wasn't their fault that the two players had decided to not show for their third practice that week. Rodger had no control over the two of their actions.
He nodded, kicking off and soaring toward Masika's goal post. She watched him, analyzing every move he made. Her advice had worked, using the left had spiced up the play a bit. In a tight moment, especially against Slytherin, that move might work. She could see it play out against Hufflepuff, and possibly Gryffindor. Squinting slight against the sun's rays, she scanned her eyes over Adela and Roxanna. Making a mental note to work with both girls at a later date. For right now, they were doing fine. Her main concern was Davies' and his inability to watch both sides. It was becoming an annoyance. He was good at what he did, yes, but Ophelia didn't like 'good'. Good was just a nice way of saying, 'okay' and she never settled for just 'okay'.
Picking up her own broom, she kicked off and ascended toward the goal post, intercepting the quaffle just before Davies could score again. She motion for Roxanna, Masika, and Adela to come in a bit more. Lately, she'd been working them all to the bone and had been rather thankless in her drive to win. This had even gained her the nickname, "Hitler" (probably from Maddox, who quit the team because of her . . . technique) for her "Auschwitz-like" training camp for the member of the Ravenclaw team. In her need to look good, she'd completely overlooked the whole "team" aspect, "Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that . . . " she paused for a moment, trying to think of how to say that she was glad they stuck with her through the horribly long practices, her complaining, and having to battle with her ego.
"That?" Rodgers flew in a bit closer. If he were a dog, his tail would be wagging in anticipation for his treat for being a "good boy".
Ophelia looked at their tired faces, satisfied with their fatigue. They should be tired. They should be working hard. The closest she ever felt to grateful was at that moment -- seeing their foreheads shiny with sweat in the dim of Twilight. Hearing Rodger try to regulate his breathing with deep breaths. Her chest filled with a warmth that spread to her fingers and toes. Her hair follicles were even happy.
"Ophie? You were saying something."
"Hm?"
"You were talking about letting us know something. What was it?"
"Oh," her face dropped and she shook her head, "Oh! I just called you all here to say," she made this pause dramatic, leaning into their little huddle,"You are all incredibly lazy! Why are you just hovering around? Get back to practicing. Davies! You're using your right damn hand again! What did I just tell you? Adela! My grandmother could hit that bludger harder than you! She's nearly 150! Oh, and Roxanna? Can't you fly in a straight line? Is it really that fecking hard? Masika -- you aren't even worth saying a thing to. If mediocrity is what you're going for, I have to say that you have succeeded."
She smiled, leaning forward on her broom to watch them. They thought this was bad? They hadn't seen what the locker room looked like.
As Mr. Miyagi would say: "Wax on, wax off."

Name :: Melanie Nicole Parks House :: Slytherin Year :: 4th year Position Wanted :: Captain (if Captain) Position Played :: Right Chaser
Qualifications :: Though Melanie is young she has an incredible understanding for the game of quidditch and is fully dedicated to the game. If she was allowed to Melanie would skip school all together and just go Hogwarts to play quidditch. Quidditch is the one of the few things she takes seriously. She takes it almost too seriously. She finds it extremely important that she and the rest of the players on the team are in tip-top shape for upcoming games. She'll work herself and everyone else on the team day and night if that's what it takes to become better and eventually become successful. Her team has to be successful, there's no question about it. While quidditch is played on a broom and up in the air, Melanie likes to be absolutely sure that her and the rest of her teammates are in shape...off of the broom. Melanie knows that if her players can't survive on the ground or aren't quite strong enough, that they'll never be able to survive up in the air. It doesn't matter to her if it takes them days even weeks before they can practice up in the air, she doesn't want to risk injuries simply because her players weren't strong enough or ready yet.
Melanie's extremely competitive and hates it when slytherin looses. Loses and her competitive nature only drives her to go harder, to push herself and her team harder. She knows that only good practices and natural talent can bring quidditch teams victory. Melanie pays close attention to her fellow teammates and likes to talk to them outside of practice. And not just about quidditch. She feels that a good player should know about his or her fellow teammates; their likes, their dislikes. Also, if you know your teammates outside of quidditch practice you'll be able to read their facial expressions easier during practices. Though it pains Melanie to do so if practically all of the team looks worn out and too tired to move another muscle she'll suggest that they should tun in for the day. There's no need to push people any further when they're in no condition to go any further.
Melanie is very bossy and can come off a bit aggressive during practice, but she doesn't mean to come off that way. Quidditch just gets her overly worked up. If things aren't going as planned or if the team is loosing Melanie looses her calm composure and tends to yell and lash out at her fellow players. She is well known for getting violent after loses but she keeps her player's health in mind and simply kicks and hits objects around her instead. She would never purposefully injure one of her teammates, it's wrong and not necessary. Her yelling and aggressive nature comes from having to toughen up since the slytherin quidditch is mainly made up of boys. She may appear weak, fragile, and girly but in quidditch practice and games Melanie is "one of the boys." She yells when it's necessary, not to put her other teammates down. She has to appear tough so the boys will listen to her. She has a way of getting people to listen to her and do what she wants them to. She can be incredibly persuasive and uses her charm and somewhat child-like innocence to her advantage.
Melanie knows that for everyone to feel good and happy there has to sometimes be awards or that her teammates should be praised. Since she's extremely observant on and off the pitch Melanie notices when her teammates have done well. She'll give them praise, she knows that everyone needs to know that they're appreciated every once in a while, because she knows that she herself loves compliments and people noticing when she improves.
Example :: Melanie had known what she had just done wasn't exactly fair, but all team captains and their players were known to play dirty right before a game, so it wasn't like she had committed a crime or gone against the rules or anything. She turned around and waved as she smiled flirtaciously at the dazed Rodger Davies. Poor boy, he hadn't even seen it coming. Melanie is known to play dirty. She'll flirt with players on opposing teams if that's what it takes to win, everything little thing helped. Melanie knew that sometimes her charming and innocent ways were impossible to resist by certain players. Particularly young, male players. Like Rodger Davies, for instance.
She picked up to a sprint when she reached the end of the hall, practice was going to start in thirty minutes; the second to last practice before slytherin went up against ravenclaw in the first quidditch match of the year. A win was crucial, Melanie knew that it was best to get up ahead early in the season or else you'd have depend on luck, and being 'lucky' wasn't going to cut it for the young slytherin girl. She dressed into her practice robes quickly, the immensely clean locker room was empty except for Skylar. Melanie smiled to her friend but as she turned to make her way to the pitch her smile faded. It was practice time, time to get into the zone.
Melanie cleared her head of all thoughts and kicked up into the air. She liked to be up in the air before anyone else arrived. She felt that it made her look more in charge. Being up in the air with everyone else on the ground always made her feel powerful. She crossed her arms as she waited for her players to arrive, she was all ready growing impatient, and there were still a few more minutes before everyone had to arrive. Melanie let out a frustrated huff as the first few players made their way to the pitch, laughing about something that had happened in the locker room. Her blue eyes must have turned to icy slits because when her two fellow chasers looked up at her they abruptly stopped laughing. The remainder of her players arrived seconds later. Well, all except one. "Montague..." Melanie muttered angrily under her breath and let out another frustrated huff. That boy couldn't be on time if his life depended on it.
***
They had gone through the play full-on five times before Montague finally decided to show up. When the rest of her team had seen him arrive they all snickered and stopped the play, they knew that he was about to be chewed out. Melanie turned to them and said coolly, "Did I tell you to stop?" When they all shook their heads and grumbled she replied, "I didn't think so. Back to work." They moaned in unison but got back into the play, they knew not to question Melanie any further with the game so close. She flew down slowly to Montague who was mounting his broom, ready to practice. As if Melanie was going to let that happen. "So nice of you to finally grace us with your presence Montague," her voice was flat, lifeless. The cold tone was gone, but it would soon return. Montague kicked off the ground and nodded at Melanie, obviously thinking he was going to practice. She realized what he was thinking and she leaned forward on her broom, catching some speed and cut in front of Montague, who skidded to a stop. "Where do you think you're going?" her voice sounded genuinely curious.
"To practice--"
Melanie cut him off rudely, her voice was loud and cold as ice. "Wait a second, you think you're going to practice? Nope. No. I don't think so Montague. You were late. If you wanted to practice with us you should have showed up on time. You're not going to practice with us today. You got that?" She waited for him to respond but his head was down, unresponsive. She inched closer to him on her broom. "I said do you got that?" Montague barely nodded. "Good. Now turn your lazy and inconsiderate arse around and go sit on the bench." Melanie disliked using harsh language but it seemed necessary in both practice and games.
She didn't take her eyes off Montague, even as he sat down glumly at the bench, throwing his broom down in a fit of rage. Too bad, he had to learn his lesson. Melanie kept her eyes on him as she said, "McClellan, Robert. You're in." She closed her eyes as Robert flew past her, she needed to keep herself under control. The game was soon, she couldn't loose it now. Especially over somebody like Montague.
Melanie tried to smile as she flew back to her players but it probably looked more like a grimace. It was then when Marcus Flint dropped the quaffle - which he had all ready done twice today - that was the last straw. "DAMNIT FLINT!" Melanie roared as she raced across the field to catch the quaffle on time. She caught the quaffle when it was just inches from the ground, but that wasn't why her eyes were suddenly wide. She had lost control, even though she had told herself earlier today that she wasn't going to. It wasn't fair to let out her frustrations on her teammates. Melanie frowned to herself and sighed. She returned to her team with the quaffle underneath her left armpit, her face was sad. She motioned for them to stop and form into a group in front of her. She looked at Marcus Flint with apologetic eyes, "I'm sorry I yelled at you Marcus. We all make that mistake every once in awhile." She looked at the rest of the team, their faces were tired, foreheads gleaming with dirt and sweat combined. "I want to apologize for being so irritable this week. I'm anxious and nervous about that game." She paused. "But I know that we can win this. We can be perfect this weekend you guys!" She smiled at them, what she said was true. All those long practices had paid off, they were ready.
Castrus Sacre cleared his throat and chuckled, "Hasn't anybody told you that being perfect is impossible?"
Melanie's smile grew wider in spite of herself, "Well, then we're going to be pretty damn close, aren't we?"
Other :: nothing important. :]
