It was snowing quite heavily outside her window, but a fire nearby kept her moderately warm. Attendants stood by the door, ready to serve her every whim. They too were Vampires, but much younger and less powerful than herself. The silence was then broken by a tapping coming from the window......

"Guards look and see who that is and report back to me right away. I will let you know if they are allowed in or not." They marched off to see who it was...

She could hear the wind blowing when the guards opened the window, and they closed it a moment later and returned to her. One of them had a Raven resting on his arm. He bowed and lifted the Raven to her. She recognized from the red eyes and smell of death that this was one of the Undead Ravens used by her Vampire brethren to the south in Sylvania. Attached to it's leg was a small note.

"Thank you. You may return to your post." She openend the letter to see who it was from. Who would be sending her a letter now? She wasn't sure. She opened the letter...

The letter was from Count Manfred Von Carstein, the Vampiric leader of the province of Sylvania in the Empire. It read as follows:

"Dear Queen Luna Ravenclaw,

I hope you are doing well. I regret to inform you though that they have awakened. The armies of Angmar, that we thought lost to the sands of time, still exist. But they have mastered the art of Undeath, and now they have an Undead army that surpasses our own. Our Scryers discovered them a couple days ago marching north through the Kierlak Desert. There is only one reason they would do this: they have found that we still live, and are coming to finish the job they started centuries ago. I request that you send whatever soldiers, Vampire or otherwise, to Sylvania at once. I am mustering my soldiers, as well as the Blood Knights, to fight them. I am also calling for aid from the Emperor. If we do not stop them early, then I fear they will destroy everything.

Sincerely Yours,
Manfred Von Carstein"

Her jaw dropped open. "What is it , My Queen?" one of the soliders asked her.
"Send half of our forces to Sylvania."
"May I ask why, my Queen?"
"Now!"She hissed and her brillant blue eyes turned red.
"Yes Ma'am."
She souldn't send all of them. She needed someone to protect her city too. I may not be enough but still, at least we have some. She had to think of what to do. It was to cold outside to travel and she couldn't leave her people alone to fight this off. Would she have to bring in the best solider she had to help protect the castle?

The soldier ran off to go send word to start rallying the soldiers. But she knew it would take time. Her army was slow to mobilize at the best of times, and with winter setting on it would take longer.

The soldiers in the city garrison were ready to move by that afternoon, and she had word that the garrison at Erengrad would be ready when her forces arrived to rendezvous there. The troops in the surrounding country side were much slower however. The roads were covered in snow, and it made moving forces difficult. The most optimistic estimates of when they would be ready was a week, but most of her commanders believed it would be 2 weeks to get all of them to the cities. By then it would be too late though, the sea would be flooded with deadly icebergs.

Then she didn't know what to do so since the bird was still there she decided to write a letter. She went over it in her head.
"Dear Manfred Von Carstein,
My apologises, if I send out a force now it will be too late to reach you......."

No that wont work. she couldn't think of anyhting to write. Maybe she should leave and have a couple of people go with her. At least she would be of assistance to them. Maybe if it was a smaller group they could get there faster. Maybe she could just go by herself and not make a big deal about it... No, i cant do that to my people. Iwill just try to see if i can go in a group.

As she was in thought her Generals and Commanders came in to give their report. They bowed as they approached, " my lady, we have come to report that 4,000 soldiers are ready now to send to Mordiheim, as well as a contingent of battle mages. We believe that we may be able to send 1,000 to 1,500 more at the end of the week."

"Very well," she thought abot telling them she was going but she wasn't sure. Of course it spwed out of her mouth the minute it cam to her mind. "I am going as well."

The generals were a bit surprised, but not too much. They had come to know her as being the adventurous type of their centuries of service. "My lady, it is not safe for you to go. Stay here. They can not come and get us here should we fail."

In the back of the group stood her loyal servant, Zacharias, head of her spellcasters. He chuckled at the general's response.

"I am going weither you like it or not," she snapped. "And what is so amusing?"

Zacharias bowed politely. "The general's belief that because we are protected from natural enemies we are protected from an Undead army as well. The Undead are unaffected by weather or terrain. They could march beneath the sea if they so desired. It amuses me for anyone to think that they are completely safe."
