A home…It is at least what the company said, when the man chose and hired from it. The very large and quite old mansion had the feel as if not many have lived in it sense. Inside lived a man, who not many knew about, and had some how escaped the public eye, in the land of North America, in the country of the United States. Along with the hiring, a note was sent.In regards to whom I’ve chosen,
I have hired you to tend to the needs of my home. You will find it will need quite a lot of cleaning to be done, amongst other things. There is a garden, in which has many different variety of plants and such that will grow a variety of different produce, throughout the year. You will stay on, for as long as you are welcome here, or as long as you feel your job is acceptable. Your pay will be $26 an hour, which I believe may look like too large of an amount; but, I assure you, if you work as well as I have heard, you will have earned it. I have enclosed, within this letter, some directions, in which to get her. The only other people, to know where I am located is your employing agency and, of course, your closest family.
Upon your arrival, I will grant you with the knowledge of where you can be, within the house, and what sort of things I expect from your work. I hope that you are as excellent, as the agency has said.
Formally,
 Mr. Roland Harlis

Story Thus Far
The first day has ended. Miss Lytl has learned that Mr. Harlis lives a very loner life.

ProfilesUsername: Name: Age: Gender: Female Race: Appearance: (Description preferred, but image accepted) Abilities: (Any certain skill no one else has?) Power: (Can they do any sort of magic?) Biography: (Please have one.) Username: Name: Age: Gender: Female Race: Appearance: Abilities: Power: Biography:
Username:smittee Name: Roland Harlis Age: Looks to be 34 (Explain, as rp goes further) Gender: Male Race: Human Appearance: His long brown locks are tied back into a loose braid, with a black ribbon lightly keeping it together. His gray eyes stand out, upon his skin of pinkish tone. He stands around 6'4", and his weight is around 140 lbs. While his stature is that in which a noble would have, he dresses as an every day business man would. At times, he could be seeing wearing past designs of clothing, in which he found to be more comfortable, than the constant irritation of neck ties. Abilities: He has one, but it is more of an innate one. Not to be mentioned yet. He doesn't get ill very often. Power: He has none. Biography: He has lived in the mansion all his life, in which was passed on by his father, Corban Harlis, and his father, Marlius Harlis, supposedly. There had been started a business called "Metalworks INC.", and is now one of the leading businesses of it's kind. The business had never been stocked out, and his family is the sole owner, as they had been passing it down for ages. Not many have seen him, and he likes it kept that way.
Username: buggieray Name: Yuella Lytl Age: 23 Gender: Female Race: Half Elven, half Human, specifically, Native American Appearance: Yuella is very short, some still mistake her as a child, at only 4"9' tall. She is about 85 pounds, and her ears have slightly more point to them than is acceptably normal for a human. Yuella's hair is long and very dark brown, nearly reaching her waist. When she is working she keeps her hair pinned up in a neat little bun. Her skin is a light, creamy brown, lighter than her father's, but darker than her mother's. Yuella's face is almost too perfect, coming from her mother's side. The parts of her face that speak about her father's side are her full, rounded lips, and her big eyes, of a deep chocolate brown color, framed by thick eyelashes. Yuella wears no make-up. Her style of dress is casual, she loves bright colors and bold patters. On the job she wears a stiff, black uniform and a plain apron. Abilities: Yuella can sense people's emotions, even when those people keep their emotions hidden. She is usually pretty acurate, though she can only sense their emotions, not the reasons behind them. Power: Yuella is very good with animals and plants, she always seems to know what they need or want. Biography: Yuella is the daughter of Rafton Lytl, one of the last members of a dying Native American tribe and the only full-blooded of the tribe left. She has never known her mother, though her father talks of Maria (Yuella's mother) sometimes. Yuella grew up in a large apartment complex, she went to a modest school. She was a good student, smart and clever, but not good enough to recieve any scholarships for college. A friend of Yuella's recomemded a program that trained poor women to be house keepers and maids, and so Yuella tried it out. It was not the job she had in mind, but she worked hard and was good at it, and so her popularity grew. Yuella usually turned down jobs, recomending others for the job that she thought needed the money more than her. The agency, however, would not let Yuella out of this one, and so she took it reluctantly.

And thus it begins...
Walking slowly down the stairs, with his hands behind his back, he slowly walked down his stairs. He sighed softly, and shook his head, and the mere fact that touching the railing would almost cause him to wish the bathe once more, from all the filth that would fly from mere touch. He could already see the dust clouds try to form, from his accustomed soft walking, upon the stairs below him. He had let most of the place go to waste. The garden, at least, was still of good health, and quite productive. He had meat in the household, only because he would have such nourishment sent, from only the most trustworthy of services. 'Although, I may make grocery shopping one of the maid's duties,' he thought. He wasn't sure if he should or not. He hadn't been in true contact with anyone in years. For those who delivered, they knew to leave the supplies and things on the doorstep, and take the envelope, from the door, and be on their way.
It was how things were, and how they always seemed to be, for very many years. As he passed, he looked upon some of the fine paintings that he had acquired, over the years, and how they now were covered with webs. He had almost but lost want to do anything humanly. At times, he didn't even eat. 'Being alone all this time, without contact from a soul...' That was one of the very reasons that he wanted the maid. He did not look for love, lust, or even a close friend. He just needed to see someone, to actually speak with another person in person. He knew that he home needed tending, since he hated the idea of having someone around, and them to have no other reason to be in the filth, but to talk. He couldn't do that to anyone. It also helped him, from being able to stay inside. There had been times, were he did go out, but no one ever knew him, or cared to see who he was, or where he goes. He stopped, after a while, and left his business to be over phone calls.
He also thought that brightening up the place may put a smile upon his face. After all, he could never clean as well, as a wonderful lady, in which excels in such things. His skills were of other matters, in which were gentlemanly for him to do, such as hunt, and do well within a business atmosphere. Yes, his ideas about things were old fashion, but it would deal with how he was raised, and how he grew up after wards.
Making it down the stairs, he sat in his only clean chair, near the front door. He sat down, so that he may wait for her to come. He only took a moment, to see his old and dusty cane, in which he used to be so fond of using. Sighing softly, he pulled out the reply letter, from the company. He then read out loud.
"We hope that you find her work satisfactory, Mr. Harlis." He still knew not of her name, only her work habits, and the kindness in which she showed for others. "Perhaps my first impressions will be well."

[[Before I begin, which I will very soon, I have something to warn you about, and something to ask.
First, the semester is wrapping up, and all my instructors have drowned me in papers and presentations and tests. My prioties are first school, and then this RP. I might not be able to rp as much as I'd like for a few weeks, but after that I have break and will be on all the time.
Secondly, is the maid supposed to be living in the Harlis home, or will she only come during certain hours/days? I should have asked the question before, but I forgot...]]

((It's quite all right, about the not being able to post often. If I remember correctly, we us get on daily, and we would get writer's block, more often than not. It might help, to keep the rp fresh etc.
Then, about the maid. He hasn't really said anything about that, even in his letters. He will probably allow her to stay at her own dwelling, since he doesn't want her to grow too curious about something, which will be told, when he starts rambling on about her duties and such. He also still needs his alone time. So yes, she'll have set hours and the like. Gomen ne, if that might have been a bit confusing. I just woke up. XD))

[[Alrighty, thanks. =) ]]
Yuella stared through the taxi window at the dull grey sky. It was one of a few dampers on her spirit. The agency had insisted, no, forced Yuella to take the job. "He wants the very best." Mrs. Thompson had repeated. But Yuella was not the best, or atleast, she did not think so. There are many much better than I. She thought. Like Martine. She is much better than I am, and she needs the money. Three growing children and no father around... Martine deserves this job, not me. Yuella sighed and glanced down to smooth her uniform again. If she must take the job, she might as well make a good impression. Her uniform was black and slightly old-fashioned looking. The neck buttoned high, and there was a slight hint of a ruffle at the top. The buttons were a shiney black, Yuella made sure they were neatly polished. The skirt was stiff, A-line, ending just below the knees, with a thin white stripe an inch above the hem. Yuella wore a wide, white apron with large pockets positioned just right for easy access. It was tied in a neat bow in the back. Yuella wore smooth, sheer stockings and thin, black, mary-jane style shoes. The shoes were the most comfortable she had ever found, and Yuella had bought four pairs of the same. Only one had worn out so far. Yuella was careful to polish the shoes to just the right shine. Yuella's hands went up to her hair, making sure the pins were still in place perfectly.
Yuella smiled. Everything was perfect, nothing was out of place. She caught the driver peeking at her through the rear-view mirror again, and her smile quickly vanished. Yuella was perfectly polite, but she would not lead this man on.
Finally, the cab stopped at the head of a long driveway. Yuella tipped the driver more than should be expected, pulled on her long black coat, and headed towards the door. A chilly breaze met her as soon as she had left the cab, Yuella smiled and walked on.
Standing before the door, Yuella hesitated just a bit. Of course, she would still be on time for the initial meeting, Yuella had made sure of that. But she would not want to be too early. Yuella waited a short minute, and then rang the doorbell.

He had heard the vehicle drive up, and then stop. He hoped that it was of her own. Alas, the door open and shut, and the car drove away. 'That will be something to remedy.' He did have a vehicle, once bought, when he was still showing his face. It may be quite the old fashion buggy, but he made sure that it was in working order. Of course, it was as dirty as his dwelling though. 'If I must, I will give her it. After all, I don't use it anymore, and it would be good to have someone driving it around again. Only if she has no vehicle that is.'
He noticed there was no knock, for only a short time. 'She is perhaps nervous, which could be understandable,' he thought. Then, he heard the bell ring, and he got up, walking over to the door, with a relaxed and noble way about himself. Opening the door slightly, he peered out, hoping not to show himself to well, as he looked upon her. 'I did not expect her to be dressed in such a fashion.' His voice crackled a bit, from little use, but soon he produced a smooth, baritone voice, as he asked," Are you the one from the agency?" He would wait for her answer, before along her to enter. Being a bit nervous, he truly hoped she was as the agency had said. 'I cannot let a gossiper, who would reveal where I live, like they had been trying to send. although, that may be why they didn't let her speak to me on the phone, or even tell me this one's name,' he pondered on.

"Yes sir," Yuella answered in her clear, musical voice. She made a slight curtsy and then continued. "I am the one the agency sent, Mr. Harlis." Yuella looked up, as she had to with nearly everyone when conversing. Her height often made it awkward, however, the conversation was already awkward. Yuella was not used to talking to people through a tiny crack in the door, and she was a little unsure of herself when the door remained stubbornly in it's nearly shut position. "I am Ms. Lytl," Yuella smiled, pronouncing her name as 'Little'. It always amused her when people remembered her for the connection between her last name and her height. "I am to be your maid."

Little is, indeed, the case,' he thought. He nodded a bit, at how well she presented herself. He then fully opened the door, still staying behind it. "Very well then, Ms. Lytl. You may, indeed, enter." He waited for her to enter, before closing the door, and showing himself to her. "I apologize. I don't like to be disturbed by unwelcome guests. I am Mr. Harlis. I also apologize. This place will be quite a lot of work for you. I'm not too good at cleaning, as you can already see."

"Thank you, sir." Yuella smiled as she stepped inside, feeling a rush of relief before a new wave of anxiety swept in. As always when she met someone new, Yuella felt self conscious about her ears. She resisted the urge to cover the slight point, and instead, took one quick glance at the room she was in. "Oh my." She said quietly in shock, before she had the sense to keep her thoughts to herself. Composing herself again, Yuella looked back to the man that towered so far above her. "I'm up to the task, I assure you." Yuella took another quick glance. It looked like years of dust coated every possible surface. It would, indeed, be alot of work for her. Now Yuella understood the large payment.

He nodded, as he noticed not her ears. "It is good to hear that. Now first, there is something I'd like to know. Do you own a vehicle, and came by merely taxi today, or do you not own one at all?" His hand stayed behind his back, as he stood straight. It was different, to look as much as he was. He didn't expect her to be lacking in height. Although, he hadn't seen anyone in years, and probably would have to look down a lot, if he was to. 'But, there really is no reason to care about such things,' he thought, as he wasited for her reply.

That was a question that suprised Yuella. "I.. My car is in the shop, undergoing repairs. Normally I take the bus, and walk, but with the weather how it is, I thought walking might not be a good idea." Yuella was puzzled, and openly showed it. Why would her means of transportation be of any concern to Mr. Harlis? Yuella looked up, hoping that he would answer the question she wished to ask. It would be rude to ask it, Yuella thought, but I am so curious. It was another thing that was odd. Yuella began to think that maybe there was something behind the strangeness of the man, but she quickly put those stray thoughts to rest. My job is to clean, not to stick my nose into others' personal affairs.

"All right. I can accept that for now. I apologize, if my question seemed awkward. Being in charge of a billion dollar company, I can't allow people to know of where I live. If anything slips out, even from a cab driver, the press may decide to show up, and my peace will be ruined. As you may have realized, the press is relentless, and can drive even the strongest willed actor, to commit a sudden suicidal attempt," he paused, and then added," With that known, I hope that I can trust you. You can speak to your job, but do not mention who I am, or where I live especially. If the repairs, on your vehicle will take more than months, because of the shape it is in, I would gladly lend you the money to pay for repairs, or even allow you to have my vehicle, for the time being."
Roland waited, to hear what she had to say. It may be a lot on her, but he hoped she realized this was actually more for his protection, and also hers. If it was found out that there is only one maid, and recently hired, when no one has seen him for years, they may try to make something out of it. 'I miss the days, when a man didn't have to worry about such awful things,' he thought.

Yuella got the answer she had hoped for, and much more. She nodded in understanding as she took in this new information. Billion dollar company = press attention = suicide attempt Yuella thought, looking up at Mr Harlis, I cant let myself be the cause of something so horrible. It would be a terrible loss of life. Yuella's expression softened from it's professional hardness and sheen into one of true care. Suddenly Yuella felt like protecting Mr. Harlis, shielding him from the cruel world. But the part about the vehicle, oh no. Yuella never borrowed money. She was always afraid of not being able to pay it back. "The repairs should not take long, and I could not borrow your money or vehicle, sir. Thank you for offering, but that is quite unnecessary."
