Zeke took in a deep breath of the fresh forest air. The snow was beginning to melt and spring was about to return. He was glad, winter was miserably cold. Zeke wore basic clothes and an unremarkable traveling cloak. He had the cloak's hood up, even though he probably didn't need it, but he was scared someone from Altdorf might recognize him. He tried his best to enjoy the beauty of nature, but he was much too worried that someone was going to appear out of nowhere and attack him. All of a sudden girl jumped down out of the trees right in front of him. She deftly landed on her feet and stood up straight. She wore a torn shirt that left very little to the imagination and he was very embarrassed once he realized he was staring a little lower then he should be. He met her gaze which was smirking which only made him blush more. "Can I help you," he asked sheepishly. It was only then that he noticed that she was an elf.
"Yeah, could you be a good little boy and empty your pants right now?"
"Uh, um w-what?" he stuttered.
"Your money? And any other valuables you have."
"Oh, um.. I don't have any money... wait!? You are trying to rob me!"
She looked around like he might have been talking to someone else, "yeahhh?" She lifted an odd ring blade that was wrapped around her body and twirled it through the air for a second like an expert. "I will only ask this again, give me your money, no one travels without something on them."
"I already told you, I don-" Before Zeke could even finish his sentence he was knocked to the ground by someone behind him. A moment later that same someone grabbed him by one leg and lifted him into the air. Zeke got to see his captor who was a very large and very muscular man. The man kept on lifting him till they were face to face, and the man smiled an amused grin at Zeke.
"Shake him Dar," the elf girl said behind him. The large man called Dar proceeded to violently shake Zeke causing his long knife, cloak, and back pack to fall to the ground. "Thanks," the girl said mischievously and she then proceeded to go through his belongings.
She inspected the knife and found that it had no real value. She went through the pack and found some food, water, and some blue robes, but they didn't have much value either. "Ok kid, you must have something, ring? necklace? secret stash of gold on you?"
"No, I don't!? Put me down! I am a magician and will use my powers if I have to."
The girl stood up, "ok Dar, drop him."
"Wait, wha!!?"
Once again Dar did as he was told and Zeke fell to the ground landing very painfully on his head before blacking out.

When Zeke awoke it was night time. He was bound and gagged and lying down next to a fire. As his eyes adjusted he saw Dar eating a very large piece of meat, and the Elf girl was eating something out of a wooden bowl. She saw him move as he tried to see if he could get out of the restraints, "oh, good you're awake. We were worried you might be in a coma, that way you would be even more useless to us.... if that is possible." She got up and kneeled down beside him, "ok, I am going to remove the gag now, if you start yelling for help I will start removing fingers, k?" She grinned as she twirled a knife in her hands. Zeke nodded in agreement and she untied the gag. She then sat him up into a sitting position against a tree and then she went back to her side of the fire to finish her food.
"Do I get any food," Zeke asked.
"Oh this? This was your food, well, what was left of it after Dar and I had lunch. It was quite good too, thank you."
Zeke rolled his eyes as his stomach rumbled.
"You will get food after you tell us something about you," the girl said. "First off what is your name?"
"I am Zeke Verun of the Imperial Wizardry Order."
She smiled awkwardly, "good for you, but if you were a true wizard you could easily have best us out on the road... clearly you are an apprentice, and a bad one at that."
Zeke said nothing.
"Ok, so I take it you came from Altdorf then? I hear they have a wizardry order there?"
"Yes, I did."
"Alright, so, why were you out here?"
"I was running away...."
The elf girl seemed interested, "oh really? Please go on."
"I have been falsely accused of killing someone....."
"Who?"
"My master.... but it wasn't me! Someone else did it and has blamed it on me!"
She leaned back, "hmm, well I believe you. You have no real reason to lie to us. But it sounds like no one else believes you, and now that you have run away it has only reinforced their suspicions..... is there a bounty on your head?"
"What!?," Zeke asked incredulously.
"I bet there is... hmm, killing an Imperial Wizardry master... and a teacher... in Altdorf! I bet that bounty is pretty big Dar." Dar just nodded and kept on eating.
"But!? Wait!?! You can't!?!"
"Yes I can." The girl seemed to feel a little bad for him, "look kid, it is nothing personal, but we need to make a living too. We had wanted to just rob you and be over with it. But you had nothing on you of value. So I thought maybe someone would pay a ransom for you, well I doubt it since you are wanted, but that just makes things better! The money we will get for you will be by legal means, and probably more than a ransom for a young and inexperienced Wizard's Apprentice. So unless you have something of value to give us tomorrow we are taking you to Altdorf."
"I..." Zeke thought for a moment, "I could help you."
"Oh? How?"
"Well, I may not be the best wizard, but I know a couple spells that help you a lot, and I can improve too! Just, give me a chance, please, don't send me back to Altdorf, they could kill me!"
The girl thought it over. "Alright, we will give you a chance... but if you betray us you will regret it."
"I won't! ... I have no where else to go anyway..."
"Good, well, sense we are going banditing tomorrow you will need a full tummy." She grinned mischievously and filled her bowl with what was left of the stew over the fire and then she sat down next to him so close that they were touching quite intimately. Zeke was very uncomfortable with this and she grinned all the more. "I am Tira by the way and you have already met Dar."
"It is nice to meet you-"
Tira thrust a spoon of stew into his open mouth, but she was careful to not hurt him. Tira spoon fed a very embarrassed Zeke until the bowl was empty and she untied his restraints. "Alright, well I am going to go to sleep now. Sweet dreams Zeke Verun." She winked at him and then went to her side of the fire and rolled up in a blanket. Zeke watched her go and then noticed Dar was staring at him. One of Dar's hands was on the large piece of meat that was almost finished, the other was patting a very large axe on the ground beside him. Zeke quickly looked away from both of them and laid down on the ground to go to sleep. Dar went back to his dinner and watched Zeke till he fell asleep.

The next day Tira woke Zeke up at the break of dawn, "time to wake up sleepy head, we have work to do." They ate a quick breakfast and then made their way to the road. "Alright," Tira announced, "here is the plan, I will wait up in the trees for someone to come down the road. Dar will hide behind something big enough to hide him and you will go over there." She pointed to an area not too far from the road that had enough cover to hide him from view. "When I jump down, if it looks like they are resisting I will wink at you, then you intimidate them with some magic. If that doesn't work and a fight breaks out you will know and then you just do your thing, k?"
"Um... ok," Zeke said, unsure of himself. He had never been in battle before.
They waited for a bit until a covered wagon started to come down the road. It seemed to just have the driver. Tira hopped down out of the trees and the driver quickly pulled on the reins to stop the horses from trampling her, but she did not even flinch. As the horses came to a stop she came up and petted their noses. A man in fine blue robes came out of the wagon to the driver's seat. Tira and he talked for a bit, but Zeke could not here what. The man looked angry and Tira just winked and then she turned her head to wink at Zeke. It took him a moment to realize that was the signal. He concentrated and summoned the magic to his finger tips and then unleashed a few fire arrows right between Tira and the man. The man jumped back and then became very angry. Then the cover to the wagon came off to reveal a dozen heavily armed imperial soldiers who started to climb out of the wagon. Tira was quite pale already but she became a lot paler and no longer so happy looking. She began backing up, smiled, waved sheepishly, and then ran for the woods. The guards were already out of the wagon and two of them raised their guns to aim at her. "NOOOO!," Zeke screamed. And he summoned a large ball of fire and sent it hurling into the soldiers. It exploded on contact, destroying the wagon, sending the horses running and incinerated a couple guards. A couple more who did not escape the blast were now hurt, some just by shrapnel, but one was severely burned all over his body. Zeke saw that his metal armor had melted a bit and then melded to his skin. The man screamed in agony and all Zeke could do was stand their and watch.
Tira ran over to him and grabbed his arm, "run you idiot!"
Zeke did as he was told but he could not lose the image of that dying man. The guards did not give chase as they tended to the wounds of their fallen comrades.

"What the HELL?!?"
There was a giant explosion of flame, erupting from the middle of Pother's entourage. Guards were screaming, the carriage was burning, there was death everywhere... Pother could barely stand the sight of it. Even as he watched the carriage burn, he could do nothing to stop the blaze; his magic was not strong enough.
But maybe he himself was strong enough to stop the assailants. He would have started to chase after the fleeing trio, but his hore decided to rear up and throw him off. Knocked to the ground, he hurriedly picked himself up. His steed still managed to make it way far away from the flames.
Pother turned to the blaze, shook his head in despair and agony, and hurried off after the trio.
"It's sad..." He mumbled softly. Magic should never be used this way. It should only be used in non-malevolent ways or in self-defense... This is terrible... BUt he still hurried on. His brown hair rippled through the wind and his kind face was scratched barely by low branches, but he was slowly gaining. In fact, he was close enough to cast a spell and hit with reasonable accuracy.
Praying for a miracle, he lifted his hand and, wincing from the cold that burst from his finger, slicked the ground in from the of assailants with a thin sheet of ice.

They were all caught off guard by the sudden thin sheet of ice before them. Dar purposely dove to the ground because he knew that if he landed on either of the other two that would not be good. Tira slipped briefly but her fast reflexes allowed her to recover, grab a low tree branch and hurl herself over the ice. Zeke slipped and fell on his rump. Dar was getting up and then Zeke came to and realized there was an enemy spellcaster attacking them he quickly prepared to summon a shield spell to protect them against the next attack.

Pother hurried towards them, towards the clearing they had nearly fallen in. Or the clearing they had fallen in, in Zeke's case. Instantly, he noticed the shield spell the other mage was casting and cursed silently; he wouldn't be able to break through it for a little while.
He noticed the elf and siled slightly; she could probably buy him the time he needed for the shield to go down.
"And what," He started, looking over at the elf. "Is a woman as fine as you doing with common thieves? You ought to be decorated with jewels and the like rather than pal around with the dregs of society."

She smiled, "flattery will get you know where. Do you know who you are messing with? Dar, the giant with the strength of ten men, Zeke Verun, archmage of the bandits, and myself, Tira, the beautiful flower." And then her face turned cold and she spoke with threatening malice, "with a serpent beneath!" In one swift move she grabbed two throwing knives about her belt and hurled them at Pother, aiming to hit him in both shoulders. Dar was now to his feet and stood beside her with his great axe at the ready. Zeke almost balked at calling him an 'archmage' but kept his cool demeanor as best he could and he kept on concentrating to keep his shield spell up and he added to it's strength. He was glad to see that he hadn't messed up too bad yet.

"You realize that I am no small-time mage either, right?" Pother quickly brought his hand up, raising it above his head. A shimmering green light erupted from the ground and the blades clashed harmlessly against it, bouncing off and falling to the ground. The shield dissapated and the mage smiled softly, shaking his head. "Never underestimate your opposition." he cooed, raising his hands again, putting them together with his palms facing the bandits. A blot of flame shot from them, streaking towards the pair.

The flame struck against Zeke's magic shield, but it held, albeit barely. Tira jumped into some thick underbrush and then disappeared just like a deer. Dar let out a roar and charged at the mage with his great axe at the ready.
Zeke tried remembering what Rheda had taught him about keeping a level head in battle, but it was difficult for him. He dropped the shield because of it's waste of magic and launched a fireball at Pother and then started moving also to get a better shot once Dar engaged him.

And then all of a sudden there was a bright flash around each of the three companions and they all vanished from the scene, leaving Pother all alone.
