Genesis 1:1-3

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

If God intended there to be 'energies' we could use, He would have said it right here, in nature. We use electricity, but that's a natural energy, no where close to sorcery because He made that along with the earth.

If God said it was okay to for man to use 'energy' of the body, He would have told Adam. But He said this.

Genesis 1:26

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

I don't see anything about Adam being permitted to use 'energy' of the earth to do his own will. So, where can one draw a line between medical science? Things like massage therapy that use 'energy' to loosen muscles and relieve pain?

Yeah, I get it... but that does not answer my question.

Science comes from faith, not the other way around. (Read How The Irish Saved Civilization.) God wants us to explore and learn about the world He created for us. It's his design, his world, and he is benevolent, so...go forth and conquer!

Here is the heart of the problem: is faith being put in the wrong things? "energy of the universe" would be a false god. Or a faith that acknowledges that we are all gods, which is a baldfaced lie. Yet some religions believe we are all gods.

Give glory to God in all things, and pray often. Sometimes what is good for one person isn't good for another. (Romans 14:1-4). If doing something would cause you to lose your faith in God and place it elsewhere, don't do it.

... Almost seems like you're saying it's right for people to think that kind of thing....

So, here's something that I dealt with. A while ago, I wanted to go into message therapy as a profession, but I felt it was wrong because some schools taught 'energy' massage therapy. I didn't want to get into that.

So, does that mean that we are worshiping other 'gods' if we participate in a massage therapy technique that uses 'energy' to relieve pain?

I do not feel that it would be worshiping other 'gods' by giving massage therapy. because it's not really "energy" massages although that's what some may think. it's the same thing as "energy" dealing with fighting, it's just pressure points located around the body, and the force applied that makes it seem as if it is some sort of "energy". true, there is energy in the universe, but not the energy that some people are looking for. true, there is energy given off from the human body, but it, also, is not what people are looking for. they are just the blind leading the blind into what they WANT to be true, not what actually IS.

Very blunt and to the point. Thank you, Sykke.

Also, a lot of people mistake physiology for 'energies'. When you give someone a massage you are soothing the muscles but also increasing the blood flow to that area of the body and the skin in that area of the body. That and the human contact makes them feel better in that specific area as well as overall.

For people who are living empty lives, for whatever reason, this would seem like some kind of real power, like 'energies' when the fact of the matter is that their lives are just so devoid of human contact, relationships that are healthy and good for them, that they don't realize that this is just normal.

*amused by Sapphina* xD There's a lot that I know that doesn't necessarily come out on forums.
-----------------
On the other hand, anything that emphasizes chakras, chi, earth energy, crystal energy, angel healing...any belief that takes power away from God and puts it into natural things, or other spirits, is false. It is one thing to use what God gave us and give thanks for it. It is another to believe that power springs up in the things, or within ourselves, and that we can channel it.

*nods* Been through all that. It's not fun to crash, believe me. I know God HATES it.

Sorry I'm a bit late coming in on this one. Massage Therapy actually loosens up the muscles by working at them, no energy required, My aunt is a Massage Theripost, and maaaaaan does she ever beat ya to a pulp lol. But it works, A Muscuist on the other hand, apparently uses "Energy" but again, its just working at the muscle with your hands, its all in prespective of what people think is natural energy, and "magical energy."
Sorcery, God says to watch out for and not to participate in. So stay away from that, its not gewd. Gods Power, is far better anyway smile
