The Story of Monroe and Aurora

Monroe walked into the city. He was a Niko, a cat-human. Atop his head he wore a wide rimmed hat, purple, that his white ears poked out of. He also had on an assortment of clothes, a green undershirt, with a blue long sleeved shirt, open halfway down. He had red gloves that went to the elbows. His pants were a bright orange, and his boots were a surprisingly brighter blue. He had on five belts, ranging from a deep red to a sparkling violet. In his hands he held a bo staff, that had bright ribbon decorating it. His tail swishes as he stepped deeper into the city. He needed to speak with the king, so that was his first stop. The palace. But which way is is?
Unlike most people who would probably just go up to someone a gently ask where the castle was, he decided to announce it. "Can any of you fair people lead me to the great gates of the castle here in the city?"

Aurora heaved a heavy sigh. It was just her luck! She had spent a good portion of her morning dodging through passageways in the castle, taking great expense in not being seen by anyone that did not need to see her fine self. She had even worn a dress to blend in with the gaggle of witless noble ladies in order to keep from being seen by her pursuer! However it had been in vain. She now sat atop a black stallion as she was being lead along with the rest of her battalion. Herself being the captain, she had been pressed into traveling at the forefront of the legion in her pilfered dress. She shoved her hair over her shoulder in agitation as she lead her chuckling men up the way towards the castle. She would make them pay later in the lists. A squire would approach Monroe with a chipper smiling face. The boy was no older than thirteen with shimmering blond locks that were pinned back in a tail, resembling a bundle of freshly hewn hay int he sunshine. "Was it you that needed direction to the castle?" He asked innocently. "I can take you there if ya wish, but hurry! I can't be left behind by the legion!""

Monroe patted the young boy. "Thank you young man, I would greatly appreciate any help."
The boy nodded, "Ok, come on!" The boy started walking fast down the street, Monroe at his feet.
They walked for a while and when the castle was in sight the boy stopped. "There it is." he turned to leave, "Good bye sir." and he ran down the street.
Monroe waved to the boy, "Thank you!" he called to the retreating figure. Then he turned to the castle, a great sigh escaping his mouth. He didn't know what gave him the idea of going to the King. All so that the predigest would stop. That was all he wanted, but it seemed impossible. And what was he going to say? He walked forward, to the castle. In the front of the gate their were some guard. Big ones. They had biceps the size of Monroe's thighs. This made him gulp a little, but he stood up straight and started to walk forward. don't look at them and they won't see you, he muttered to himself as he shakily continued walking.

"Ey you!" One of the guards said firmly, shoving his spear in Monroe's path to block his road. "What are you doing here, Neko? Couldn't find anything shiny enough for you out there so you have to come to the palace?" The name of his race would be spat out in disgust.
"Manuel, shut yer trap!" A voice would snap from behind the guard.
When Monroe looked to the owner of the voice, he would see the evidently irritated Aurora standing within the gate's shadow, her hands planted on her hips firmly. She was still dressed in her gown which only added to her frustration and these poor souls were to be the vent of that agitation.
"C-Captain Gabriel!" Manuel gasped, retracting his spear. "This neko was-"
"He is just trying to visit the palace." Aurora snarled, sauntering towards them. "Did you see him steal anything?" The guard shook his obediently. "Did he assault anyone?" Again the guard shook his head in the negative. "Then allow him passage, fool! I was coming to relieve your duty with a guard change but I think I will allow you to sit through another shift for your unkindness." Ignoring the guard's displeased look, Aurora turned to Monroe with a faint smile. "Welcome to the castle, sir. Don't mind this heap of flesh."

Monroe took off his hat and in the same motion he bowed down in a low formal bow, his hands out flamboyantly. "Thank you, Milady for your great kindness that you have shown to such a poor soul as mine." He stood up straight, his hat quickly upon his head again. He took a quick glance at the guard who glared at him, and he looked forward again. Stepping forward he realized he had no idea where he was going, and it made him unsure. He passed the Lady and stopped. Spinning on his heel he look back at the Woman who had just helped him out.
"Excuse me, Milady, I was wondering if you could by chance lead me to the place of which I could meet with your the King, for I have a great matter to discuss with him?" He let out a small smile in hopes of helping the Lady to see he wasn't a threat.

Aurora found laughter bubbling from within her at the man's odd language, not to mention the very odd way in which he was dressed! She waved for him to follow her as she tried to regain the courtyard without making a fool out of herself.
"You are are in luck, sir. I am heading to the King myself." She explained as she made her way up the palace steps. "you do not have to call me 'my lady' by the way. Gabriel or Aurora is just fine. May I ask who you are?"

Monroe followed close, finally someone to talk to. "The name by which those who call me by is Monroe. Thank you again, Mi- I mean, um... Aurora for showing me to the King." He looked down, embarrassed. He was really playing this 'being formal' thing up to much, but it seemed once he got going it was so hard to stop. He looked at Aurora. She was a really pretty lady, and the dress she was wearing brought out the color of her eyes. He found himself looking into them and a deep blush appeared as his white fur turned a slightly pink color and he looked away.
Wanting to direct her attention in some other way so that she didn't ask him why he was looking at her he decided to say something. But what to say. "So umm... How is you
King. What is he like here?"

"He is well." Aurora replied, smiling when she realized that his fur turned pink. "He is a very busy man. As far as kings go, he is REALLY laid back."
She sighed at the thought of the king. When she had first met him, she had accused him of being a jester disguised as a king. What else was she to expect when he had been dancing around like some fool? No, her king was unorthodox, but he was very commanding when needed.
"So tell me, why are you seeing the king?" She asked conversationally as they began to weave through the corridors.

Monroe judge Aurora. Would she think him a fool if he told her why she was going to be seeing the king? Or would she think his plan need was good. He sighed deeply, deciding to tell her. "I am going to see the King because of the prejudices that people have of my people. When anyone sees me or any of mind kind the first think they think is 'thief' and it is untrue. I want to bring this up with the King and see if there is any way that he can help me, help my people, and hopefully help others to see who we truly are." He looked down at the ground, hoping she wasn't going to mock him for him stating his true feelings.

"That sounds like a noble cause." She would respond pleasantly. "I'm not sure how the King would fix it, but I am sure he can think of something."
Finally she would stop before a very large door that seemed to be made out of pure gold. A puffed up butler would be resting near the door, staring down at them over her pointed nose. She met his gaze firmly but curtsied.
"Please tell the king that Captain Gabriel and Monroe are her." She ordered. The man would snort then go on his way. She turned to Monroe and smiled. "It might be a minute before we can have audience with him. Come sit with me." She offered him a seat on a bench across the hall then sat down herself.

Monroe sat down on the bench next to her. His arms were crossed in front of him, his mind wondering. How would the King fix the problem? It didn't seem like one where you could just snap you fingers and it was done. It required work, and for people to be willing to change. He shook his head, not wanting to think about it just yet.
"So..." he started his voice quiet. "You're a captain?" He looked at her, taking in her dress and how lady-like she looked.

"Aye. I am." Aurora began, straitening out her dress. "I am in charge of the palace guard and i am also a member in the imperial Peace Relations Corp." She looked at him with a charming smile, taking a moment to realize just how cute he was, "I know my gown throws out the appearance of a true warrior," she shrugged softly, "but it is decreed since it is an Imperial holiday that i must wear a gown."

Monroe nodded, "Well I think it looks amazing on you." He smiled at her, his ears perked up. He glanced at the doors to the kings throne room and let out a sigh. I can't believe I am here, or all places. He stood and started pacing back and forth. Five steps one way. Then he would turn around, taking another five steps. His tail was swishing behind him, in jerky motions showing his nervousness. Please be a good king, he thought to himself.

"Careful, Monro!" Aurora giggled, watching him pace back and forth rapidly. "You might make yourself dizzy from all that pacing ye are doing. You'd fall on yer pretty head and then where will we be?"
At that precise moment the door to the King's chamber opened slightly, just enough for the butler to stick out his beak like nose. His beady eyes shot Monroe a distasteful look then turned their displeased gaze upon her.
"The King will see you now." He drawled in his usual monotone voice. Aurora, ignoring his cold manner, turned to Monroe.
"Ready?"
