Some tips! The training session is pretty decent, but not everyone reads everything and it definitely doesn't cover all topics. So let me throw out some tips for playing. Here goes:
1) You can view your character info by selecting yourself and then pulling down the OPTIONS menu on the target info window (which shows your name). There is an option there that says "Player Info". Choose that. (NOTE: Improvements are coming soon that will make it much easier to see your character info.)
2) You can see the buffs/debuffs on you (and on your Crew) by opening the Crew List. (Click the Crew icon on the lower, left of your Action Bar.)
3) Watch your orb count. When you get four or five of them, go to the Null Chamber and power your rings up. EVERY QUEST GRANTS AT LEAST ONE ORB...so try out the quests to gain orbs easily. (The quests are also where the storyline resides, so it shouldn't be too laborious for ya. icon_smile.gif
3a) Once you get to a certain point in the game, you'll start seeing ring drops that are higher than 1.0 CL. If you get dupes of rings you already have, you can always consider SALVAGE'ing the ring (in the Null Chamber) to get orbs out of it so you can charge your other rings up instead. This is an easy way to gain orbs later on.
4) Try to "pull" monsters away from a group. That won't always work. Some groups are all allied together and they are "one for all, and all for one" in their defensive strategy. Don't be afraid to run when grossly outnumbered. Try hitting and running a bit to get out of a mass scrum, then hitting, running, etc.
5) Monsters come in different varieties. A standard "grunt" is easy to kill. His lieutenant is easily soloable, but way tougher than a grunt. But demi-bosses (like the Gnome Commander, Katsumi's Kokeshi Doll, She Wolf, Mother Fluff, etc.)...well...those are group targets. Beware of them. They have MUCHO health and they're offensively powerful. (And we won't even *discuss* real bosses here. You're still some distance from those kinds of critters.)
6) A Crew can overcome some difference between your toughness and a monster's toughness...but it will only overcome so much. If you take a group of CL1.0 players into Bass'ken Lake, then you're going to get worked. There's no doubt about it. Raise your ring levels and try finding a place to fight that's more your speed.
7) USE YOUR BUFFS! Especially when in Crews. If you don't use your buffs, it's about the same thing as volunteering to enter a swordfight without armor or a shield. You won't last long. Turtle, Teflon Spray, Knife Sharpen, Keen Aye!, etc., etc., etc.
icon_cool.gif If you're in a Crew, then having someone dedicated to healing is not a bad idea. It can be a really fun way to play (saving your teammates' lives is fun), and it's also important so that offensively-oriented players can utilize their skills without worrying about staying alive.
9) Learn to love the "~" key. It allows you to easily cycle through targets on the screen without having to click on them.
10) On a related note...are you having trouble clicking on your Crewmates when trying to heal them? Fear not! Click on their name in the Crew list and, voila!, they are targeted and you can heal them easily.

General Hints and Tips
Rings Drops: All creatures drop rings, though they are a 'rare' drop. To increase your chances of getting a ring, run around with a crew. Everyone in your crew gets a chance at drops for each creature killed. The early major quest chains will also give you rings.
Killing Quests: Anytime you get a quest asking you to kill X number of an Animated, or to kill a Mini-Boss you only need to get one hit in, unless you are in a crew. If you are in a crew you simply just need to be in the same box when your crew kills the Animated. You can even be dazed, so if say you get dazed by the Lawn Gnome General and you already got a hit in, you could just hang out there till someone else came along and finished him off.
Quest Chains: Basically most quests are one BIG chain. However you can start in each area without having finished the quest chain in a previous area, BUT you will miss out on a few quests and their rewards. Each quest chain should send you on to the next area, however a few quests may no longer be available to you if you skipped forward. Notably there is a Katsumi quest from Rubella that you cannot get if you have already spoken with Katsumi prior to getting the quest from Rubella, so if you want to enjoy the quests and their rewards to their fullest, don't skip ahead!!
How to read the guide Each area will include a small descriptions, a suggested minimum Charge Level for your rings, and a link to a general map of the area. This information will be found at the very beginning of each post.
Next you'll find a list of quests. Where appropriate I'll try and group quests according to the chain they are in. You'll also notice some quest will have a Prerequisite quest listed. There will also be images of the NPCs involved in the quest to the right of each one.
Towards the bottom of each post you should find some Hints and Tips for the area, a list of Animated with a short description, and Badges you can attain in the area along with the qualifications for the badge. I will also eventually include links to other maps with several items highlighted or indicated.
What does that word mean? You might notice as you read that I throw around a few terms or acronyms you may not be used to hearing if you are new to zOMG. I'll try and briefly list and describe them below. If some word I've used confuses you and you don't see it here, don't hesitate to say something.
Badges: Badges work through the quest system. You don't need to talk to anyone or accept anything. You simply get them by killing a certain number of an Animated or by visiting specific places. You can also get them from the mini-games in zOMG. Every time you finish a quest, you should here a specific sound and your quest log button should also start glowing, the same is true for Badges. You can view your Badges by looking in your completed Quest log in the game or under My Gaia. You can display your badges for all to see if you are using the current profile system add the content box for Badges.
The Animated: these in short are the monsters in zOMG that you'll be fighting. Throughout your quests you should hear about them.
CL or Charge Level: When you finish quests you'll receive charge orbs (also you get them from monsters occasionally). You'll want to invest these into your rings to increase their charge. Your charge level is the average charge of all the rings you are currently wearing. You can see this by looking at your player information in the game. You also may notice that your average CL isn't your exact average, there is a bit of a curve added to the average CL to make it a bit easier for those users who may not get regular ring drops and thus have a few empty slots that are counted as CL 1.
Crew: A crew is a group or party. On the bottom of your screen you should see a button with multiple people. If you press it, it'll open a new little window on your screen that has your crew members in it. If you join a crew it will also automatically open.
Box: Each map is split up into boxes. You can only view one box at a time, unless you are transitioning from one box to the next, then you will watch the screen scroll to the next box, once the box is done loading you can only see that box. You can however see Animated indicators for the next box when you walk near the edge.
Farm: This word is not used in the traditional sense of the word, you don't actually do any physical farming in the game. When I talk about farming a chest, that means you will camp the area and repeatedly kill the spawn and open the chest to collect the orbs hidden within.
Camp: To camp an area means you don't move from where you are and wait for the spawn to pop.
Spawn: The animated have specific places they appear. When one pops up that means it spawned and is thus often called a spawn and the place it spawned is the spawn point.
