The above quote is just to bring us back to Duncan's story. If you have not read part 1, go do it now!!! blaugh
Duncan's mother left the room. Once the door was shut, he sat up again, grabbed his pillow, and threw it across the room in anger. "GGRRRAAAHHH! I almost forgot about dad. Almost a whole summer away from that guy and now I gotta put up with 'Why'd you do this?' and 'You shouldn't of done that!' and 'You may be my son, but remember that I can send you back to Ju-V if I have to!' GAH! Just my luck!" after his rant, Duncan calmed down and said, "Well, I guess I have to face the music. The loud, irritating, unbearable, ear-bleeding music."
Duncan shoved his hands in his pockets and dredged down stairs to the kitchen. His family was waiting for him to come down. Little Susan was sitting next to his mom, and his dad was sitting across from them. The only chair left was next to his dad.
"Oh perfect!" he grumbled as he saw the seating arrangement from the top of the stair case.
He came down and silently sat next to his dad. Expecting a planned lecture about 'who-knows-what', Duncan braced himself for the worst. But instead, he heard his Father say this, "There's by boy! Long time, no see! Congrats, son."
"Uh........... what?"
"You know what!" said his dad.
Duncan thought for a minute then became angry. Before he had a chance to speak, though, his mother cut him off saying, "Now that we're all here, let's eat!"
Duncan was hungry, so he figured that his tirade of anger could wait until after dinner. He would have eaten in complete silence (that's what he wanted to do) if his family hadn't of asked so many questions. However, he didn't mind answering that much. Usually, dinner topics orbited around his Dad's police job and what he did that day, so it was refreshing to be able to talk about himself for once.
When dinner was over, Duncan said, "Dad, can I talk to you in private?"
"Sure, son!" he responded.
They went into the master bedroom to talk alone.
"What do you think you're doing?!?!" Duncan exploded instantly.
"What do you mean, Duncan?" his dad said, confused.
"You know what I mean! Usually, you're all 'don't to this' and 'don't do that' and stuff. But now that I'm rich, your pulling this 'My boy!!!' stuff on me! If you want money, just ask for it and don't act like such a phony!"
His dad listened intently at Duncan's rant. When he was finished, he sat down on the bed and said, "I understand why you feel that way. But you gotta trust me, that isn't what this is about. And actually, I was congratulating you on acting more mature than usual. Your growing up."
Duncan shot him a suspicious look. "Really?"
"Absolutely. You acted better at that camp than you ever did here, with the exception of being a role model in front of Susan. Plus, I was watching you, and some one's got a girlfriend, huh?"
"Yeah, if I ever see her again."
"Well, I'll tell you this much, Duncan. I know have a new level of trust in you. Don't lose it."
"Will do dad." Duncan said quietly. He had nearly forgotten that his family, including his dad, was watching him during the summer.
Duncan went back up stairs and took a long shower. He pulled on a pair of lounge pants and a large T-shirt and continued to unpack. Strands of green hair hung in his face. He pushed them aside as he looked at the picture of him and Courtney again.
"I sure do miss you, baby." he whispered.
Suddenly, a fierce chill ran through his body. He knew deep down inside that something was wrong. Something wrong with Courtney.
