Anyone here a fan of Natalie Merchant? I think she has such a beautiful voice and I love what she sings about- motherhood, jealousy, appreciation, reality, etc. So down to earth and painfully honest! She doesn't have a typical scare in her style, but I can definitely feel a lot of darkness and maturity in her music ("Ophelia," "My Skin," "Carnival"). Even with her cheery songs, I associate her with a darker personality because she sees through a lot false motives from people (assumed from my understanding of her lyrics). I'd love to see her perform, she's one of the most touching solo artists I have heard!

I like "Ophelia" a lot. It becomes so powerful towards the end, I don't know how someone could not get choked up by it!
