Integra was tired. She'd been wandering all day, searching for suitable territory, but nothing had struck her as particularly fitting for a new home. And although she'd had a wonderful encounter with a kom'giet and his companion, she'd yet to meet one of her own kind that was worth talking to. While living alone with her bonded servant for the rest of her life was an intriguing prospect in more ways than one, she knew that a few others around would be a good idea. After all, they wouldn't want to drive each other crazy, and she didn't want a repeat of the food crisis that had driven them to the mainland in the first place. She was exceedingly lonely now, though, and longed to turn tail and gallop back to the mountains to be with him. In her mind, she thought she could hear the voice of her servant attempting to console her and assure her that he was ok. She was unsure how far her bond with the male went, but these calming thoughts gave her a bit of respite before she dropped off to sleep in the copse.

"Come on dad. It's not that bad having a son, right? I mean seriously, I'm your own flesh and... well... maybe not blood. Do you even have blood?" A white stallion trotted beside a frowning male, slightly larger than him. His legs were tipped with a dark grey, leading up to his neck. His icy blue eyes pleaded with his so-called father as he tried to reason with him. "Just teach me to hunt, like you do dad. I want to know what it feels like."
The larger male growled and mumbled under his breath. His golden eyes darted, looking for an escape from the never-ending torrent of pleas from his son's lips. "Fine, Axxel, I shall tell you vat to do. Then you do it. Do you understand?" He shook his head, some slobber falling from his lips at the thought of food. "You shall sneak quietly, mind vere you place your hooves, and once you approach your victim. Just make sure they are asleep first. You kneel or lay next to the victim's neck and bite, much like you would bite an apple. Then you drink to your heart-- er, stomach's-- content." He snorted and inhaled deeply.
A new scent floated along the breeze near where they had been walking. The scent of an older mare, an easy dinner. Slowly the elder Penstiege led the younger to the clearing.
"Do you understand vat you must do Axxel?" the elder smiled and motioned his nose towards the clearing, "Your first feast."
Axxel nervously through the foliage, trying his best to keep the scent in his nose. He apporached the mare and knelt behind her and readied himself for the bite...

As she was having a rather wonderful dream, Integra felt the brief p***k of fangs on her neck, then the telltale warm breath that indicated her servant's preferred surprise greeting. For a brief moment, she considered leaning into the bite. "Alu..." she whispered, but then her eyes shot open. The scent, the aura, the lack of whispering "Master" into her ear as he did... Gods damn it, it was some other vampire! Could she never get a moment's rest? She wasn't expecting to meet any others, but she'd been foolish to think that her reputation would precede her here on the mainland, and even more foolish to travel without Red. Snapping to her feet, her long mane flying wildly, she kicked out, hoping for her hooves to connect with something solid. Vampires couldn't feed in a semi-corporeal state, right? She sincerely hoped so. There was no way in Hell that she was going to be a snack for some random bloodsucker! Whinnying, Integra put all her being into her counterattack. "Vile demon!" she shouted. "In the name of the gods, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation!" Damned vampires... can't I get one night's peace? Just one?

Axxel flew sideways with a rather shocked expression on his face, "HOLY SHI--" and was cut off as he hit something solid. Rnale watched, laughing rather loudly as his son was thrown clear across the clearing. "That vas a very nice hit my dear. I am Rnale la Croix. That puny thing vas my-- son Axxel. He needed a good kick, I thank you for that."
Axxel stood up and shook his head. Stupid forests, he thought, why do they have to have so many damn trees and rocks.

She knew she looked a fright, disheveled mane, tangled tail, clothing probably askew from the rapid leap to her feet, and she was mad about it. Integra liked to have the upper hand at all times, yet these two had taken her by total surprise. She had to think quickly. Dammit, why hadn't she stayed in the mountains? Hm. Neither of them had bitten her yet. They either weren't terribly hungry, they were old enemies of her vampire's, or they knew who she was. That last one was not likely; while her family might be well-known on their little island, it was probably not the case on the mainland. And he'd told her many times she was his only extant friend; plus, if they knew him, they would have brought more muscle to finish her. He wasn't the type to leave friends... only enemies. So they must not be too hungry; the sire was teaching his fledgling how to hunt. Terrific. They just had to be hunting her. "Dear? I think not. I'm nobody's dear. Don't you know a Hellsing when you see one? You should thank me for leaving him alive. What the hell do you think you're doing, sneaking up on innocent creatures in the night? You should also teach your son some finesse; he's not likely to win any females over to your cause by biting them like that, Vampire la Croix." The Knight's ears were flat against her head. She was pissed.

Rnale looked taken aback at her words. He was rather confused, she hadn't fallen for his charm? Perhaps he hadn't said enough... "A Hellsing you say? I haf never heard of zem, are they all as beautiful as you?" He braced himself for a strike.
"And as to why we were sneaking," Axxel trumped over, shaking his head, "was because my daddy over there was teaching me how to hunt."

"...Daddy?" Integra could hardly hold her laughter back. Daddy? What was this boy doin' calling his elder "Daddy"? Big Red would have a heyday with this kid... hmm... maybe she could scare him a little herself. Grinning her most deranged smile, the one she used when she wanted to frighten her undead companion, she started in on the half-dazed fledgling."So, he was teaching you the thrill of the hunt, eh? Did he tell you the right way to pierce the hide, making sure to hit the jugular just so? Did he tell you to hang on with all your might, or else the pressure from that lovely open vein will make the blood go everywhere, causing you to lose your dinner? Did he warn you of the kicking, the screaming, the flailing and thrashing? Did he warn you that the corpses don't stay down for long, that if you aren't careful you'll have a ghoul on your hooves, or worse, if you've bitten the wrong sort of person, you'll have a full-fledged Nosferatu after you?" Turning sharply and leaving the young vampire to his dilemma, she glared angrily at the elder. "You should teach him better." Her ears remained against her head, and her tail twitched. "A Hellsing's true beauty lies in their ability to silence the undead. Considering the number I've let live, I'm horribly ugly by that standard."

Rnale pouted, "Vell then, perhaps you could teach the boy better? I vould love to see you try." He narrowed his eyes at her, snorting.
Axxel looked quizzicly at the female, what was she saying? What hadn't his father taught him? "Actually, you, uh, you seem like you really know what you're talking about. Maybe you could teach me...?" His ears flattened against his skull in a slight fear as he gazed at her.

"Perhaps I could... but then, it would be entirely against everything my family's taught me- to help a vampire... Though... I suppose that when my companion arrives, he'd be more than willing to turn your son into a proper midian... with some provisions, mind you. He's, after all, had years to practice." Integra swished her tail. Good, she was making them mad. Mad vampires couldn't concentrate- she'd irritated hers many times by ticking him off. Let's hope these two worked the same way.

"Your... companion?" Rnale looked at her, eyes narrowed. "Who is this... companion you speak of, girl?" He pawed anxiously at the ground. He wouldn't fare well if it came to a fight. He twitched his head slightly and glanced to his son.
"Your companion could teach me? I think that would be good," Axxel smiled at her, still slightly afraid of the femme's hard kicks, "Is he better at it than my father?"

Somewhere in the mountains, a certain vampire was pissed off. It was bad enough that he had to be so weakened from his last battle before leaving the island, then crossing the waters, but he could sense everything happening with Integra. Being attacked by lesser creatures was not a good thing. Rising to his feet, he shook himself. "I'm fine," he said to nobody. "And my master needs me." He'd begun to gallop, normally at first, then speeding up to his breakneck, unnatural speed. What had taken Integra days took him no time at all; after all, it was downhill, and he wasn't a normal pensteige. He sent a message to his mistress to let her know he was coming, and was nearly there, ready to avenge whatever insult she'd received.
A crazed smile twitched across Integra's lips as she received Alu's message. "As far as I know, there's nobody better than my companion, boy. I think you'll meet him soon enough." She turned her head around, watching her servant's descent down the mountainside. In no time, he was by her side, eyes bloodshot, nostrils flared, teeth bared in a twisted smirk. "Evening, servant," she said, briefly nuzzling his neck.
"Evening, Master," the red-clad figure purred in return, bowing his head and nipping at her throat lightly from below. "What dares to be troubling you on this lovely evening?"
Integra shook her head. "Alucard, this is Rnale LaCroix and his fledgling, Axxel. Who recently tried to infringe upon your territory..
How dare he? Nobody's allowed near your lovely neck but me!
I know, but he's weak. A mere baby compared to you.
That may be, but still. I should kill him for the insult.
Now, now, Alu. He didn't know any better. Besides, I think they could be useful.
Oh?
Yes. Now, make nice, because you're going to go hunting with them. Show them how real vampires do things. I need to establish my strength here; feel free to show off.
As you wish, my master. "The La Croix family, is it? I believe I've heard the name before. Who was your sire? He might have been somebody I bit," Alucard said, looking at Rnale and ignoring Axxel entirely.

Rnale lowered his head in a bow and smiled lightly, "No one I can remember sir, mother didn't have a friendly companionship with him. At all." He glanced around, wondering what the long silence had meant. He had called the femme Master, strange... Rnale pondered this a moment before glancing to Axxel who was now inching backwards with the large male now in front of him.
Axxel smiled nervously, the silence having been extremely awkward for him, watching the large vampire and the femme waiting for them to say something. When the large male addressed his father he was slightly irked.

Alucard swung his head around to look at the smaller male. "And his mother; are you still on terms with her at all? It seems more and more rare nowadays for our kind to stay paired up; such a shame. When one lives as long as we do, pleasant companionship is such a valuable commodity," he said, with a sideways glance at the blonde mare who was pressed ever-so-slightly into his side. He examined the two males. Neither of them were as old as he was; the father was only a bit older physically than his Integra. And while the father might be somewhat formidable, he was quite positive that Integra could take this one in her sleep.
I very nearly did, dear..
He chuckled; he should learn to think a bit more quietly around her. "So," he said, leering. "My master informs me I should teach you to hunt. Very well; sometimes an instructor you aren't related to is needed to teach you the proper ways of our kind. Heavens know my own fledgling wouldn't listen to me; Integra was the one who got her to drink. And hunting with new faces might be enjoyable. So... do you want to come with me?" His smile widened as he caught Integra's nod. "This might turn out to be quite a fun evening." He said nothing about the attack on his master; after all, if it didn't scare her, it was nothing to worry about. He was used to her being rather aloof towards other vampires, and it was, after all, an honest mistake on their part.
