After gathering together what small belongings and food he had managed to acquire, and after saying his goodbyes, Felix decided to chance his way into Galgorra forest to have an explore and find the old oak tree that Lucifer had spoken about. Able to see through the darkness of the thick foliage with ease, and able to use his heatvision to spot and avoid any possible nasty beasts, he found he only had to rely on his sense of direction to take him there. At first there was a thin path beaten down by frequent crossings that he assumed were of Lucifer's origin, and by the time these faded away he knew he was well past the middle of the forest.
Nevertheless the forest was bigger than he expected, and he decided to take a break, plonking down to lean on a gnarled and mossy tree surrounded by ferns. He was used to carrying huge weights, but he was surprised by how the new added weight of his new Axe upset his equilibrium until he was used to it. He unhooked the Axe from it's crudely-improvised side-hilt and examined it in the gloom. It was a dwarven make, and etched with celtic designs down it's strong wooden handle. It seemed to be weighted so that in desperate situations it coudl be thrown, though Felix figured that it would only be effective if thrown from a speedy object like a horse. It was too bulky otherwise. Certianly a melee weapon. He smiled in pride, remembering when Deandric had presented it to him shortly after the party and he announced that he was leaving. The silver thing was the most valuable item he owned now. Though his bostaff did not have the same monetary value, it far outweighed the axe in sentimental value - but he liked both all the same.
he sighed happily and looked up through the mottled canopy of leaves ahead. It was shaping up to be a hot day.

Vence followed the worn path through Galgorra, not really paying attention to his surroundings. After a while, he was forced to draw his new Double Handed Broadsword to attempt cutting through the underbrush. The sword had been given to him by Deandric, along with Felix recieving his Axe. Vence decided it would be better to use this blade for combat, and keep his Ancestral blade as in a good condition as possible. It was already old, and didn't need to see any more fighting. If it was neccesary, he would draw it, but only then.
Soon the pathway disapeared, and he was forced to do the best he could to walk as straight forward as possible. In almost no time, he stumbled across a small cearing, with Felix in the middle of it, resting.
"Well, fancy seeing you here, Felix. How are you?" Vence asked. It was only too apparent to see his spirits were higher than usual. He was still happy at his success of bidding farewell to Cassandra.

Felix looekd up, surprised to see Vence come by. So it looked like he was on the right path after all - surely the both of them could not get lost in teh same place. "Hey, nice to see you. I thought I'd try and scout out how far this forest goes. So far, so huge." He laughed and shook his head. "They were right when they siad there's a lot of monsters in here. I've been trying to keep a low profile. If you stay still they don't tend to see you." He pushed hismelf back onto his feet. "So - are you ready to go?" He was excited, it felt like a new adventure, like his possibilities were opening up before him endlessly. He was a romantic at heart he supposed - always looking for the hero stories.

Felix smiled back. "Wellw aht're we waiting for then?" He winked and headed off at a quic pace ahead, keeping in vaugely teh same straight line. He kne wthat the forest would have to end soon, he had been wlaking far enough for now, and he had been careful not to walk around in circles. Sure enough, the tree coverage began to thin gradually, until the bright sun was visisble in large patches, and then completely visible. The sky was brigt blue, with oly a few smatterings of clouds, and there was a gentle hisisng sound as a light breeeze stirred the long grass beyond the forest. Felix stepped out and was greeted with a wide expanse of grasslands, which rose steadly into hills in the distance. So this must be the beginning of the valley he thought, and looed around him. There was no greta old oak to be seen in the immediate area. "Well, we made it."

"Seems that way," Vence said. he looked around for a second before adding, "but no oak. Unless you count the trees behind us, but none of them are exactly huge like the ones inside."
At that moment, Serol decided to drop to the ground. And he dropped with a loud thud against the ground. Vence barely made any movement, not exactly surprised. He had sensed his presence beforehand.
"Sael o mi eileirol sar tae jhyl jhoji ei 'kaer ol,' Serol?" "Can you see anything that may look like a 'great oak,' Truthwing?"
Serol raised his head, sniffing the air, and loked on either side of the edge. The dragon shook it's head.
"Well, there you have it," Vence said, looking at Felix.

Felix sighed and rested his hands behind his head. "well then, nothing to do but walk along the edge and see if we wandered far off the path." he shrugged and headed off, walking out into the grasslands a little before tracing down the line of trees, keeping hismlef alert for any sights of trees or people. After a little while he looked over the grasslands once more, and spotted several small red spots fo heat hurrying across the blue-greyish grassland towards them. It looked like horses and riders, and he nudged Vence's arm when he spotted them. "There - do you see them? That might be the group we're looking for. Any idea how this Sebastian guy looks like?"
[yup Felix's vision's weird. Pretty much colourblind aside form the heatstuff. Hard to describe what he sees -lol]

Vence looked closely to where felix pointed. He couldn't see who Felix was pointing at, and turned to Serol.
"Pai o mi eileirol, Serol?" Asked Vence. The dragon looked to where Felix pointed, and nodded. Vence sighed, shrugging. Do you see anything, Truthwing?
"I guess my vision sucks compared to yours. Anyways, I don't know what he looks like, but you can easily tell by what he says and does. Remember, apparently he acts like an immiture teen. I suppose we should check 'em out though."

[I wa sjust thinking, poor ol Felix will be utterly skrewed when he goe sinto teh desert. with so much heat rising off eveyrthing in the day he'll go dizzy XD -ahem anyways...]
"Yeah." Felix rested the palm of his hand on the hilt of his axe - easier to reach when it hung at his side than his bostaff was on his back- and wlaked towards teh newomers. The group eventually came into easy view. There was a group of about seven men, all on horses. At the lead was a man in his very late twenties with shosrtish floppy brown hair dressed in green and brown and riding a well-bred white horse. He was unarmored but there was a shield bearing the local kingdom's crest on it tied to the horses' saddle. A few of the other men held light armor - one with a helmet but most without helmets and given only chestplates and shingaurds. They all held the same crest, and wore the same green tunics. When he spotted Felix and Vence the lead man rose up in his stirrups to see them better and cuppoed a hand to his mouth.
"Hey! You lookin' for the oak then?" He grinned. "you're about a mile off, we've been looking everywhere for you!"

[lol, oh well. xd I guess Serol's becoming pretty important now, now that he's out of the town.]
"A mile? Where did we go off, ey?" Vence laughed. "There's plenty of oaks around here, how are we supposed to tell?" he called back. Serol took a few steps forward, standing beside Vence like any loyal pet would. Vence glanced at him and smiled. During the break between the battle and the ball, the two had spent almost all their time getting more aquainted with each other. Thus, their bond had strengthened, and they didn't have to speak their thoughts and emotions as often.

Felix turned around to bones and smiled. "Hey Bones.." He was cut off by the lead man of teh group, who leant over his horse curiosly to look at Bones. "Dara lockewalker? you mena the bowman? Sure, I heard that he's over at the South Valley End. If you want you can tag along with us while we cross the main bit of the valley, then split off and head south if you like." with that dealt with he turned his attention to the group as a whole. "You must've followed the worng path in the forest." He pointed a hand off to the right. "Back there there's a pretty big oak. s'pretty old so the leaves are yellow all year 'round. Plus it's got a bloody massive heart carved in it. which is probably why the things hlaf-dead actually. Lucifer never was much one for consequences when she started wavin' her magic around." He grinned. "Anyways, you're here now. So, let me introduce you to our band of merry men:" he raised up on hi stirrups agaian and spread his arms. The men behind him smirked or rolled their eyes. "I'm Sir Sebastian Miller- though you can ditch teh sir...makes me feel like I need to grow a moustabche... - erm, that's me. Then we have Sir Balthazar," He gestured to a man with wiry black hair dressed in a slightly battered chestplate, who appeaed to only have one arm; "Sir Adonis, Sir Carpenter, Sir Luton, Sir Oman, and Sir Taylor." The men all grunted various hellos and a few raised a hand in a good natured greeting. "The horses are Snowflake, Nippers, Gallahad, Beowulf, Fluffy, Sandcastle and Tiny."
Felix laughed and nodded to them. "Well, a pleasure to meet you. My name is Felix and this is Vence, Serol and Bones."
Sir Bathazar eyed serol in admiration. "A fine beast."

"I wouldn't call him a beast, really. Once you get to know a dragon, you realize they're not like normal animals." Serol gave a nod, apparently satisfied with what he said.
"Anyways, we thank you for the help. I suppose we need all the help we can get, with the path we're taking. Blademasters," he added as a last word.

The group smiled. "You are wise to think such." Balthazar agreed, exchanging a glance with a few of the other men, "The valley is a wide expanse of land, there are always many monsters here that mnake use of that. We have to beware of airbourne creatures when we're out in the open, but aside form those our main enemies are the Bugbears and packs of Gnolls. These tend to try and loot the farms and villages here. Then when night falls the Lurkers come out" he sneered a corner of his mouth in obvious distaste of the latter. "You might see a few ogres when we reach rivers, and as we get higher towards Dwstein there are more trolls."
Sebastian interjected. "We don't intend to take you up too near the forest or mountains of course. It gets dangerous upthere, what with the drow, dwarves and elves. While the dwarves and elves might be civil in Dwestein, once you start to encroach on their territory they can get mean."
"If you wish, we can march on throughout the journey and simply make camps in the valley, or we can hop between the farms and the king's city." Sir Luton added.
The group seemed to operate like a well oiled machine, practically finishing each other's sentances as they gave information, and Felix got the impression that for such a bond they must have been through a lot together. he coudln't help but keep glancing to Sir Balthazar's missing arm, and wondered if it was on one of their ill-fated trips that he lost it.When they spoke of a king it caught his interest. "King? Does he own the valley?"
"He owns Emania." Balthazar said with some pride. "He has several Lords who of course act as his vassals. Your Lord Adel is one of those. As is custom, they have control of their own lands to do as they please, provided they pay taxes to his highness and provide men for him should there be a great war. They are also required to meet whith him once every three years." He scratched his chin. "His kingdom extends over Ash Coast, across the valley and south valley end. He has no control over Northwood of course - as that's the Elve's kingdom- and genrally the mountains act as a cut-off point for his rule. That is why if you ever use the mountain pass you will probably find a fortress near it. The Deserts are not his either."

Interesting, though I suppose it makes sense, having a king rule a country. I just neer knew one existed here, I supposed it was broken up into counties or something."
