...or at least parts of books that you didn't like.
[Beware of spoilers]
For example, a book that just came out....The Wizard's Conclave. I had yet to come across a DL book I didn't like even a bit before that one...and I just detested it. It's one thing to take artistic liscense; it's quite another to give Dalamar blonde hair, and make a complete God-Moder of the main heroin. (God-Moders, for those of you who don't know, are the Mary Sues of role-playing...everyone loves them, they have superior magical powers and/or magic animal friends, and they either have no past at all, or a woeful and tragic childhood.)
Stupid little prat of an Icewall girl. Even her personality grates on me the wrong way. Dalamar may be a bit more....ah...loose, than some humans, but I have to think he wouldn't try to seduce a young girl who's control over wild magic threatens the wizard magic Dal holds so dear. Come on now....the whole book smacks of bad fanfiction.
Gods, Dalamar blonde?! What the hell was the author smoking? scream

i started reading Wanderlust one of the meetings series, about when Tas meets Flint and Tanis. It didn't seem like i was reading about the same charactersi know and love.
And Dalamar blonde thats ridiculous taht author should be banned from writing anything dragonlance.

The book that stopped me in my tracks with the series (I haven't bought a book in the series since) was The Legend of Huma. I read Silver and Steel, one of the short stories in the Tales series, and had they kept that same style and just... finished on it... I would have loved this book. That's why the first time I saw LoH, I thought I would love it. I was so wrong that it wasn't even funny. Not only did the author have a poor writing style, he completely destroyed what I thought was a great battle for Huma defeating Takhisis. Instead, he completely changed the story, put in a completely different battle, and didn't even follow all the mythologies of the event that Weis and Hickman had in place.

Gotta admit, I didn't catch that. I like the story of Huma and Heart, though, so I must have overlooked it.
Does it bug anyone else when people insist on calling her by her human name, and insist that 'it's her real name!'?

Well I was snooping around a DL site today and
some people believe Dalamar's body was changed after being brought back to life at the War of Souls Trilogy
, but hey that's just a theory...

Oni, I have to say I like your method of dealing with spoilers. I'll have to adopt that strategy for the future.

I did not enjoy most of the stories in the tales series and I am finding the heroes kind of boring.

The only thing I'd say for now that I didn't like, is if there was not enough detail to an event... or that the book ended.. yeah.. I'll go with the latter.
Kenderhome SUCKED. I swear the author mistook kender for gully dwarves! She made them idiots and the whole thing was a bore to read. I am pretending that I never read it.

Id have to say all 6 of the Preludes. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman should be the only authors allowed to touch the Heroes of the Lance. Darkness and Light, just seemed boring. Tanis The Shadow Years, read like a children's bedtime story. Brothers Majere made me sick. The author of that didn't get the characters one bit. He proved that Margaret Weis is the only one who should write Raistlin and Caramon. Kendermore was rife with contradictions to Weis & Hickman. I didn't like how they made Uncle Trapspringer, Tas' actual uncle..."Uncle" is like a term of endearment to a Kender. It's given to any well loved figure in Kender History. In all actuality, Trapspringer was long since dead before Tas was even concieved. Riverwind The Plainsman was alright. It was the only one that deserved reading. and Flint The King was interesting as it is supposed to be the story of his being held prisoner by Gully Dwarves for 3 years (he mentions it in Autumn Twilight at Xak Tsaroth)

So I shouldn't read brothers majere, Raist himself says it;s not worth it. Thanks for the tip.

You're welcome. If it deals with the Heroes of the Lance and isn't by Weis and Hickman, expect continuity issues. The preludes are full of them. For instance, how can Tanis be dealing with Fistandantilus when the lich is already with Raistlin? Mary Kirchoff took the "Uncle Trapspringer" thing too literally, yeah, the kender all claim relation, but none of them can actually prove it, plus he was long dead by the time Tas was barely a fetus. Truthfully the only one worth any reading is Riverwind: The Plainesman.
I've just made it a point to stick with the Margaret and Weis books. xd

Unfortunately, a drive for knowledge (and a dragon's curiosity) won't let me just read the Weis and Hickman books...because, after all, what if there's a crucial factor in of of the others, that I miss by not reading it? What then?
Well, since I haven't read all of the M&W books yet, I'm sticking to them until they're all read.. After that, sure I'll pursue other author's books... fanfics.... etc. 3nodding
