There's a little situation during the night Jesus was born that doesn't make sense to me. It's obvious, that to see the star that led to Jesus, the time would have to be in the night. And the shepherds were outside watching their sheep at the time. Shepherds, as far as I know, watch over sheep when they graze, but sheep typically don't graze in the night, right? Why weren't the sheep put into a pen or something during the night? Does anybody here know about any sheep habits, shepherding customs, or other such reasons that would explain why the sheep were in a field in the middle of night?
