Well Scourged Angel and I go to the same school and are in Creative Writing together. There was a workshop with Ted Koosher, the Poet Laureatt of USA, in Beatrice, Nebraska on Friday October 3rd. Our class went and had a blast! I thought I'd share with you our day and some of Ted's tips.
Ted said that the sense of smell in your writing is very important, it really draws your reader in. Metaphors create images. Show rather than tell. Don't tell reader your emotion, describe it in actions and pictures.
Ted also told us that he gets up at 4:00 or 5:00 every morning and trys to write till 7:00, that's when he gets ready to go to work and University of Lincoln. He said tha he writes well about two days a month, the rest is just junk. (His words exactly.) I'm sure all us writers can relate to that. But he expects to fail.
There is more to our day that I will add at a later time. Scourged Angel will probably add her insight too. (Please do Jo!) Otherwise this is the official Ted Koosher thread thingamababajigawatta!

0.o;;......This is what happened to my friend on her first day of school.
The Math teacher comes in late and yells at everyone to sit down in their seats. "Now before we get started, I want ya'll ta' know...I don't give a damn about ANY of you! scream I work as an EMT in my spare time and if I ever catch any one of you idiots in MY ambulance...I will stick things in every orifice of your body. evil "

And welcome to Science! The lady is African American(for those who may be offended by the word 'black' >.>;; ). She screams and everyone shuts up. "Naw dis how it's gonna work in My room!! You catch yowself on fire...I write chu up, and THEN I put you out. You get chemicals in yow eeyes. I write you up...and THEN I dunk yow face in that sink. GOT IT?!?! scream "
