So first, I decided that I might want to apply for DeVry university. DeVry is like this top notch University for Technology and stuff.. But it really didn't have anything to do with being a Vet. Tech.... Plus, the girl I was talking to didn't help me one single damn bit!

So, today, I was looking for more colleges, then I saw ABC... And apparently, I was excited to find out they offered a Veterinary Assistant Program! My life plan opened up before me... Until I went to their website [http://animalbehaviorcollege.com/index.asp] and found a whole bunch of dog training stuff... NO WAY AM I going to be a dog trainer. I love dogs, but c'mon! A DOG trainer? Where's the money in that?
So I wrote them an e-mail. Here it is, and I noticed something. I sound too uptight and stiff... I like it!

To the Animal Behavior College,

My name is Juan Paolo N. Manuel, a 12th grade student here in Palmdale, California. I have been searching for colleges that specialize in the field of Animal Healthcare as I aim towards the career of a Veterinary Technician. During my search, I came across a website that describes your college to have a "Veterinary Assistant Training Program [that] is designed for anyone wishing to pursue a successful career as a Certified Veterinary Assistant." (website). Seeing this, I immediately made a quick research on ABC. However, I as I browsed through the website, I was confused as it seems that ABC mainly offers Dog Training. Nowhere do I see any mention of Vet Tech training except for the Poll on the front page which also competes with Grooming and the sorts. I'd really like to make a steadfast plan come May of '09, my graduation year, so I would greatly appreciate it if ABC could ensure the Veterinary Assistant Training Program that the linked website (posted earlier in this message) mentions. Thank you.

Sincerely,
J. Paolo Manuel

I really hope they offer that program...

The beginning sounds like you know someone from them, be more demanding...

'Animal Behavior College'

And you don't have to add colons for business letters.

Error:

"..However, I as I browsed through the website..."

the underlined area is where the extra 'I' is located that needs to be removed. =) other than that...

eek Your real name is Juan? *flips out* whee (never imagined that)

Guess what.
I love college.
xd

Ohhh, that sucks. For your sake, I hope they offer that program. And I don't think you sound too uptight and stiff, just uptight enough. Sometimes you have to be uptight to get your point across.
Vet Tech, what exactly is that?

On a random side note... I checked my mail today, and the military is bugging me. The coast guard and the army want me to join. xd Tiny wimpy little me, who cant even bench 30 pounds. My dad wants me to join the marines.... HA. I think a kindergarten teacher suits me much better.

I got mail from them. They linked me to a segment of their website!!! They have Vet Tech Training program!!! And it's awesome! I'll be going there! $2k to $3k a semester! It's affordable!

A vet tech is like an animal nurse. They perscribe medicine to animals and inform pet owners of this and that, gove shots... They also assist during surgical processes. It's a fun job since I get to work with animals and have not so much stressing work that'll let me go bonana... Like head on surgery.

Hmm, nothing really against the army, I have some friends there, but I'd love to change their slogan to "For College!".
Especially those Navy ads of them giving food to the Tsunami victims. Hah! I've been there. Pop Tarts and Peanut butter! What a treat!

Awesomeness! I can't afford diddly squat, so you're lucky. xd I'm going for a scholarship, wooo. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Sounds spiffy. mrgreen It sounds like you know exactly what you want to do and everthing, which is really nice.

Oh, I have nothing at all against the military. My family is huge in the military. It's just not for me.

Update: Now I have mail from the Navy too. The Navy is the ONLY branch of the military that I have EVER considered joining. I still find it funny, though.

*cracks up laughing* nice. XD

Well. =/ i'm at this crossroad. I can either go to college next year..or go to Japan this/next year. neutral I mean..this Japan offer is like..only for 18-25 yrs of age..so if i apply now. i'll be able to go. then I could go to college. but i dunno. =/ It'll be cool though. Living in Japan, all by myself! =D and like..being PAID to WORK there. and not only that, i'll be living with 6 different Japanese families, learning the language, my flight there and back is ALL paid for, and i'd be going to some college classes for something, and being a leader and whatnot. =) it'll be so cool! (the only thing i really have to worry about is getting a lunch, working on my whole year project, staying alive and not lost, learning how the money system works, being fluent enough in the language, and dealing with home-sickness..I'll be gone a WHOLE YEAR! =O )

But yea. that's my college life. XD o.O i think..if i apply now before December is over, and get accepted to even join the program. then i'll be off in September of next year, and back in August i think...in 2010. o.O

(I'M MD BTW!!)

Thats an amazing opportunity, MD! I would snatch it up if I had something like that. I mean, JAPAN?! Awesome!

I was thinking about this teacher-ed program in Hawaii. Its for the last two years of college, they train you while you work with your own classroom, and when thats done they send you off to some foriegn island place. (the placements vary, from Puerto Rico, the carribean, and some islands in the pacific.) So I'd have plenty of experience, and a few years of teaching in some exotic place before I come back home to the states to teach here. And the best part is, it's all free, if you fit the requirements. You have to be in this certain age range, which is no problem for me, have like a 3.5 GPA or better, again no problem, AND have to be single, as in not married.
I was SO stoked to hear about this program until they got to the last part. Now, if all goes well, by the time I'll be able to transer into the program, I wont be single anymore.
This totally ruined the plan, haha. But I figured out later that the program only accepts a small number of people each year, and I might have to be on a waiting list for a few years, which by the time they get to me I'd have missed the age bracket. So... Now I'm going for a scholarship. Yay me.
