Pictures stretch the page, and a whole fan fic is simply to long.
GIVE FAIR WARNINGS!
List any warnings for the fic or art so that someone who is really to young doesn't accidently click it and get something they didn't want.
DO NOT DIRECT LINK TO ANYTHING OVER PG-13!
Give the site on which it can be found, but not a direct link to it for the same reasons as listed above.

This is my post. I shall edit it whenever I find a good fanfic or fanart. *clutches*
For now, I have links to some good fanfiction sites 3nodding
Schnoogle
Astronomy Tower
Riddikulus
Dark Arts
All of these also have sections of Fanart. They are all for novel-length fanfiction, and are basically the same site with different authors and color schemes.
