Starting Notes: Originally a One-Shot in 2007, SJ now presents the Medical Historical Asklepios. An interesting and INCREDIBLY unique series that's barely qualified to be a shonen.

Synopsis: In the Middle Ages, when the practice of medicine was still in a primitive state, medicine was based upon a supposed balance of blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile. Doctors blamed sickness on a imbalance of these substances, not realizing the true internal causes. Many illnesses were treated with bloodletting, medicinal concoctions, and prayer. There emerged a group of new doctors, Asklepios, who treated their patients through more modern practices such as surgery and removing diseased organs from the body. These practices, however, were not allowed by the church and the Asklepios were deemed heretics and titled "slashing demons." Buzz Medil, the last Asklepios alive, embarks on a journey to help as many people in need of his services.

Review: A very interesting shonen manga. It's about an amateur doctor in midevial times performing surgery, not a typical shonen setting. However, the secondary charactewr is a fighter, and the charcters are wrtten in a very shonen style. The series is unique in the sense that it puts a shonen spin on a seinin setting and pulls it off quite well. Also the art has a nice old-manga feel and even looks slightly korean.

Closing Notes: I don't know what else to really say....it's.....fun to read but I don't really know why, I just kind of like it.
