Name of Deity - Haephestus
Main Patronage of Deity - Crafting
Secondary Patronage of Deity - Invention, Artistry
Usual Height - 5'11
Personality - Haephestus is somewhat of a rough but sweet tempered god, he loves to dabble and create, to make something new and beautiful that didn't exist before, as though making up for his own shortcomings, imagined or otherwise. He can be a touch distracted, becoming deeply involved in his work, but his focus can be equally devoted to any other subject of his attention.
Favoured Activities - Creating, particularly at the forge. Haephestus takes great pride in his work, especially jewelry, or other intricate items.
Unfavoured Activities - Long walks. Haephestus while a powerful force of creation, was (in original mythology) cast out of Olypmpus for freeing Hera from her bonds after one of her (many) Disputes with her Husband Zeus, an act that left him lame. In another version, Hera herself tossed him out of Olympus because she found him an ugly child, and he was raised instead by Thetis (mother of Achilles) and Eurynome.
Haephestus knows the real reason, but it's between him, Zeus, and Hera.
Likes - Creating, and making beautiful things for people.
Dislikes - Failure, things that don't work, the destruction of something amazing for no purpose, being dismissed offhand, though he's more likely to go out of the way to prove his skill through creation rather than a brawl.
Favoured Animal - a**. (no...seriously. Don't mock the man...he has a hammer.)
Key Opinions - Haephestus is a strong believer in looking below the surface to find the worth of someone, or something, much like the uninteresting beginnings from which great crafts are made, he sees humans likewise, where sometimes it's the most unimpressive of mortals that becomes the greatest of masterpieces.
Opinion of Worshippers - For Haephestus, his worshipers are the stubborn and the brave, those willing to create no matter what the cost, and he is stubbornly proud of them, for following him instead of a lovelier, flashier god, though he dislikes admitting outright that he is, actually, jealous of his handsomer siblings.
Symbolic Item - Hammer, also the Anvil and Tongs. Sometimes an Axe.
Family - The son of Zeus and Hera: Haephestus has the dubious pleasure of being the only lame, and the only unattractive deity
Personal Quirks - - Stubborn as the animal that represents him, Haephestus can be tireless, or just plain balkish. In a dour mood, he takes a considerable amount of coaxing, or maybe a good time with a few Saytrs, and some attention from his wandering wife, Aphrodite, to get him back to the forge.
Anything Extra - - Haephestus may have been a lame god because of mild ARSENIC poisoning, an affliction suffered from many forge workers because of it's use in hardening metal in absence of sufficient quantity of other metals.
Although his primary animal is considered to the the a**, he is also associated with the Crane, and a pack of Sacred Dogs. His plant is the Fennel, which was used to carry fire. Lastly he is a friend of Satyrs, and has been known to be seen in their company.
