Name of Deity - Demeter
Main Patronage of Deity - Agriculture
Secondary Patronage of Deity - Grain, Harvests, and Fertility. Some places also denote her as goddess of marriage and sacred law.
Usual Height - 5’3”
Personality - Demeter likes to think of herself as a calm, motherly goddess. Motherly she manages, but she’s more like your friend’s crazy mum who still likes to think she’s one of the girls and crashes your sleep overs trying to join in. She means well with nearly everything she does, but doesn’t quite understand the concept of a stopping point or, oh, explaining herself before doing things, or the even more foreign concept of thinking things through. She’s terribly fond of all of humanity, and goes out of her way trying to make them happy and content when she’s not distracted by this that or the other. 6 months out of the year, she’s happy smiley smiley flowers and crops. The other half, though… Well, let’s just say a depressed Demeter is not a good thing.
Favoured Activities - Walking among mortals, picking flowers with Persephone, gardening (though her garden consists of pretty much the entirety of the earth), babying humanity.
Unfavoured Activities - Olympian parties - someone always drags her away from watching the humans.
Likes - Anything to do with the earth or act of growing things on the earth, humanity, Persephone, posing as a human.
Dislikes - Being without her favored daughter, humanity abusing their gifts, having to hide from the overly sexually active male gods.
Favoured Animal - The pig and the snake are both sacred to her.
Key Opinions - Not meddling too terribly with humanity from afar, though she catches herself/has been caught doing so quite often. Oops.
Opinion of Worshippers - Demeter loves her worshippers. <3 She loves them lots and lots and lots. So much so that she gets very unreasonably angry with them when they do anything wrong.
Symbolic Item - A tuft of grain.
Family - Born of Cronus and Rhea, Demeter is sister to Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera and Zeus.
Demeter has mothered several children, but the only one anyone (including she, herself, sadly) ever really payed attention to was Persephone.
Personal Quirks - - Demeter doesn’t do much in moderation, ever. She’s also notorious for putting her attention all into one thing, and is easily distracted from other things she’s supposed to be doing at the same time. Also, she’s very notably guilty of favoring Persephone.
Anything Extra - - She smiles every time you pour milk into your rice crispies.
