Introduction
This is my guide on earning gold on Gaia, mainly through fishing. Market whoring is one of the best ways to earn gold, but you need a LOT of gold (at least 100,000, if not more) to really do well at it.
But fishing can also generate a steady source of gold. *checking inventory* I have over 180K worth of stuff right now, and I joined Gaia in mid-July.
I'm not posting those numbers to brag, because I've had to earn all of it. Rather, I'm posting to show you that there is a lot of gold you can make from fishing, and that's what this guide will show you.
This will not be the only way to go and earn gold on Gaia. Rather, this is what I do, and you don't have to copy everything I do. But if there are things in here you find useful, great, and you can probably improve on some of these things too.

Explaining the Numbers
The next few posts will talk about the price range for every fish. These are not 100% accurate, or won't be by the time I finish with this guide. The marketplace is constantly changing, but this should give you a general idea of where prices are. I'll update this when there are significant alterations in price.
Note: The low range and the high range are numbers I pull out of my head, I admit. But they're pretty accurate as far as I can tell. These are prices you *can* sell for. Obviously the cheaper, the quicker it sells.
Anything lower than the low number means you should buy it, because you will be able to re-sell for a profit. If the low number is close to or matches Logan's price, that means there is no confidence in being able to re-sell the fish for a small profit. If the low number is significantly greater than Logan's price, it means the fish sells well.

Please refer to post 2 for an explanation on the ranges and what they mean.
 Yellow Guppy: 3 to 7 g. If you have the patience, you can sell these for 4 to 7 g. Caps work well.
 Orange Guppy: 3 to 7 g. Again, require lots of patience. If you want to dump a ton at 3.5, there are orange guppy collectors who buy in bulk.
 Red Guppy: 3 to 7 g. The red guppy is the "new" fish released, but doesn't get much respect for it. Probably better off as a cap.
 Green Bass: 10 to 15 g. 10 will sell quickly, but if you have the patience, you can do 15 g or sell as a helm. Please read strategies first.
 Brown Bass: 10 to 15 g: Same as above. Watch the two together, because when one is flooded, the other is generally empty.
 Blue Bass: 15 to 25 g. People may sell for more, but I've rarely gotten more than 20 g. Sometimes you can get 25. This shouldn't be sold for under 15 though.
 Gray Striper: 65 to 100 g. The ugly step-child of the striper family, grays are difficult to sell compared to the other two colours. They may sit for a while at 100 g, though 70 to 75 moves quickly, but often to re-sellers.
 Blue Striper: 75 to 100 g. A step up from the gray striper, I've seen these go for 125 at times. Right now, 100 g seems to be the max they'd command. This will change though.
 Green Striper: 100 to 150 g. This shouldn't sell for under 100 g. If it does, buy it, because it really shouldn't sell for 100 g either. 125 sells quickly, though 150 will sell if you are patient.

 Blue Seedkin: 7 to 12 g. I've never gotten 12 personally. 9 to 10 can happen with some luck.
 Green Seedkin: 7 to 12 g. 9 to 10 can happen. Might have to be more patient for more.
 Pink Seedkin: 7 to 15 g. Pinks should sell for more than the others, but like the red guppy, doesn't get much respect from the market.
 Cool Rainbow Trout: 15 to 20 g. 17 or 18 sells very quickly, so there's no reason to price under that.
 Warm Rainbow Trout: 15 to 20 g. Again 17 or 18 sells very quickly. Like the bass, if one is flooding the marketplace, the other probably is empty.
 Frozen Rainbow Trout: 17 to 25 g. This should not sell for under 20 g. The ceiling is a bit unknown at this time, but you can definitely sell for 20.
 Icy Tuna: 40 to 100 g. Tuna have slowly been coming back, but 75 seems a bit too high right now. 50 will probably work, for now at least.
 Spicy Tuna: 45 to 100 g. The spicies seem to get more love than the icies. 65 and climbing seems to be the current price point, though it fluctuates.
 Dicy Tuna: 100 to 150 g. These used to get 150 g, then dropped drastically, and are coming back. There's no reason to sell these under 100 g.

Selling Your Fish
Okay, now we get to the fun part xd
First off, I hope you fish a lot. It really is more profitable when you combine it with these strategies.
There are better days to sell fish, but you should always keep fish in your vend. You never know who's going to want slate boldurs or blue bass on any given day. Having said that much, the fish market seems to peak on Tuesday to Thursday night, with Friday to Monday being a slower time.
So if you have trouble moving fish on Sunday, don't worry about it. As a result, you may want to keep your gold stored up for the weekend, because you can find some very good deals on fish/junk because the market is so slow.
Always sell in bulk, at least 10 for small/medium, at least 5 for large, and at least 50 (100 would be better) for junk. If a person has to buy 1 fish 10 different times, or can buy 10 fish at once, they're going to buy 10 at once, even if it costs more.
Also, no funky numbers. People do this a lot because they try to sell whatever they catch in a day. So you get 13 brown bass for 187 g, and the buyer has to break out the ol' calculator to figure out the price per fish. Sure, confusing buyers is fun, but it helps to stick to numbers ending in 0 or 5. 10 brown bass will be better.
If your sale is off the first page, cancel your transaction. Once it goes to the second page, the odds of it being sold drop dramatically. It costs nothing other than time to cancel a sale item and re-start it.
Do NOT use the bid option on common fish. It makes no sense to do so because it tends to drag out how long it takes before you can get gold for your fish, and you generally sell for less. If you set up a bid for 1 week, no one will touch it for 1 week, so you sit without gold for that week. Then they buy your fish for under market value. Just don't do it.
You do not have to cut your price to get the sale. This is a big mistake. Someone generally scans the marketplace, sees bass all at 12 g, so they sell theirs for 10. And if no one buys it in a few hours, they sell it for 9. Then they drop their price again to 8...if it doesn't sell at the price you want, keep it and put something else out there. Sometimes certain fish aren't in demand, and all you're doing is screwing yourself out of gold because of impatience.
Small fish are tough to sell, but they can be sold. Sometimes it's luck. But you only get 4 slots to sell stuff. It isn't worth it to occupy one slot with 10 guppies which might bring in 50 g, when you could instead sell stripers which might bring in 1,000 g. So if you're going to sell small fish, make it worthwhile, either with pebbos, or using large quantities.
Stock your store overnight! The market moves much slower at night, which means your sales items get lots of time on page 1. This may vary depending on where you live. I always cancel/re-start my items before I go to bed because if it's already halfway down the page, it will fall off soon. If I stock it up before bed, it stays up for an extra hour or two. Plus it's nice to wake up and find you sold stuff while you were sleeping. Yay gold heart

Fish Vs. Helms
This is a very simple section really.
Small and medium fish, you should check the marketplace. Sometimes there are hat/helm shortages, and you can really do well. As an example, brown bass were selling for 10 to 12 g each. But there were 5 green bass helms and only 1 brown bass helm. I made and sold a brown bass helm for 1,500 g.
Only make one hat/helm of one fish at a time. Don't get stuck with 6 blue bass helms, like someone did.
And this doesn't mean you should always make the helm. Check the marketplace first.
Large fish, 99 times out of 100, you're better off with the fish. Why? Because large fish helmets are expensive, so very few people can buy them. Mostly the people who can are the ones who own one. So don't do it.

Fishing Advice
- Use bait degradation to your advantage. Saves you 900 g every day you do.
- Learn how to filter at Bass'ken. Though Bass'ken is the "beginner" lake, their fish are more in-demand than anywhere else, and stripers are the most popular large fish. Practice filtering, and you'll catch 3 or 4 a bucket, 5 or 6 once you really get the hang of it.

I will come back and clean this section up but the time for this trick is coming up and I'm swamped right now so the quickie version, please ask if something is unclear as I'm kinda cranking this out:
Sealed envelopes = donation items. The majority of us know that.
However the price for sealed envelopes varies significantly depending on when you buy them. The first few days (now) are expensive. After a week or so, the market floods with them. You should be able to find some for 5.2 to 5.5K. Note: Buy as many as you can from the vend at 5.2 to 5.5K. Even if you only want 2 letters, if you can afford 10, get 10.
A day or two before the donation item is released (generally the 25th of the month), the sealed envelopes start to retail for 6.3 to 6.5K as people who forgot to get one end up getting screwed by inflation of prices. This is when you can sell back your previously bought letters for 1K+ profit per letter.
And don't stop there! If you have a high-speed connection, you can often just do a search for sealed envelopes, then refresh the page continuously (Hit F5 if you use Internet Explorer, CTRL+R if you use Netscape/Firefox/Mozilla) and it quickly refreshes the list, then you can try and buy more cheaper letters.
Sometimes you can get one for 6K and then re-sell it for 6.5K. This isn't as big of a profit as selling sealeds you bought for cheap mid-month, but if you do it for an hour, you can cash in bigtime. If you get 4 cheap envelopes and re-sell, that's 1 to 2K profit.
A friend of mine made over 10K doing this in a few hours. It's a basic vend principle, but guarantees sales because of the popularity of sealeds/donation items.
You can also do this the day of and the day after the release of the donation item. If the item is good, prices will jump to 7K+. Be warned though: do not buy more than one at a time, because the market will suddenly drop after a few hours as all the hoarders finish hoarding. At that point, the 6.8K letter you bought will drop to 6.5/6 K, so it's best to only hold one at a time max. Ideally you'll get rid of all of them, with a lot of profit.
Again, between myself and 2 others, we made about 30K total through the donation rush. The best profit is early on, buying cheap sealeds, but if you can't get many, you can still profit from the market later on.

White Pebbo Feeder: 11 to 17 g. Some people say they get full value, and they might. I never have. The lower, the quicker they sell.
Brown Pebbo Feeder: 11 to 17 g. I'm surprised even Logan buys these. They're ugly.
Black Pebbo Feeder: 11 to 17 g. 12 to 13 g is probably more realistic for all pebbos.
Bluestone Biter: 17 to 24 g. Rarely does it sell for more. 
Black Roque Biter: 17 to 25 g. 20 for sure, but 25 is iffy. Seems to get more than bluestones cuz black is black.
Pyrite Biter: 17 to 25 g. Again, 20 is pretty decent, 25 is iffy. Despite being the new fish, black seems to outsell it sometimes. 
Sand Boldur: 35 to 65 g. 50 is kinda iffy at this point for boldurs.
Stone Boldur: 35 to 65 g. No love for the mutant fish of Durem.
Slate Boldur: 50 to 100 g. Slates are tough to catch, but it doesn't matter since no one seems to care.
Old Can: 7 to 12 g. The can market has slowed a bit, but you can still earn 8 or 9 g per can. Newbs often sell cans for 5 or under, making this very profitable.
Old Boot: 3 to 7 g. Boots are a bit difficult to move, as the patchwork boots aren't as snazzy as the tin hat is.
Big Old Tire: 4 to 9 g. It's hard to move tires.
