Well does your mom mind extremely heavy music and random fish hooking?
And you have to remember that some fans are quite rude and will disrespect your mom in a heart beat.
At the last DEG show I went to, this lady (who could of passed as my mom) was being harassed and treated like crap just because she wouldn't move. stare

if your mom is anyting like mine, she'll wonder why you listen to them. mine wouldn't like what kyo does to himself, but she's heard some of their "softer" songs, ie, Ain't Afraid to Die, Yokan, Conceived Sorrow....but i know my mom wouldn't be able to stand them and she'd probably forbid me from ever listening to them again.
that being said, dir en grey does some things that i don't consider "bad", as you said, but others find it unusual or disturbinig, even. kyo's self-mutilation is a good example of this and some of their songs, well many actually, deal with very suggestive themes like murder and rape and whatnot. unless your mom knows japanese and can understand it, i don't think you'd have a problem with it. i've only seen a select few of their songs live and haven't seem them in concert, (because my mom is one of the people who would find them morbid), but i know in a lot of the songs, the f-word is used a lot. i would imagine that this is true for liver performances as well, but i can't really say for sure. I know that Kyo really gets involved when he's preforming, but i don't know if he would go as far as to scream random obsenities.
wow, that was a long thing. like i said, it depends on what your mom would view as appropriate and how she would take their music and stage actions. Was that helpful?
