Sorry if I didn't spell that right lol.
Anyway, lately I've noticed Gaia has been bringing out a lot of new features. Like the IM I noticed this morning and now the aquairums. I know I haven't been on Gaia for a long time like some other members of this forum have. But I feel I have to say something.
There are things that are noticable broken. For one the account preferences. And the gift giving system I've seen some mention.
In my opinion, instead of bringing new stuff out, the old stuff should be fixed first. Just that fact alone is driving people away from this place. I've stayed because despite how hard a friend of mine tried to get me to come four years ago, it's caught my interest so much now I don't want to leave.
But if things keep possibly going the way thier going, with broken coding, important coding no less...Well that may change...
Sorry about the rant lol

I don't care if you think I am mean but lots of people are b*tching about the new things that gaia is coming out with...they are cool ideas and I am sure that once they work they will be cool and fun...so seriously people need to stop whining and be happy about it damn it....
Gaia tries to keep us happy and all we do it b*tch about everything they try to do...I am just happy that they fixed the problem with the trees in towns not giving gold for long time. I am perfectly happy with everything that gaia gives us and instead of b*tching all the time we should be happy they are trying to fix things and make new fun things. stressed

I don't have a problem with new things coming out, but I do have a concern with what seems to be a slow-down of the system as a whole. The site seems to have serious lag in loading certain things recently, and I'd like to see that rememdied - if not first, relatively soon because it ruins the experience.

I agree Gaia needs to fix what is broken first. They bring new stuff out and have not even fixed what is broken in the first place.

I like new things. I'm a total mark and will happily run and play with all the new shiny stuff they throw at me. That said, I'd like to see more attention paid to making the stuff that's already here work properly.
And most importantly, as someone who has actually put real money into this place I'd like to see the customer service area improve. Having to wait a year or more for suspended accounts and trading passes to be investigated is bad business. I'm less inclined to spend my $$$ on something when it can be taken away and there isn't any urgency to resolve the situation.

I'm not trying to sound b*tchy or anything. I probably came off that way and for that I'm sorry.
To be honest, the aquariums seem like an interesting idea now that I've thought it over.
I just think that the things that are broken need to be fixed first.

Gift giving is, indeed, back in working order It only took them, what?, like 3 months?? stare
I've been a Gaian for about a year & a half now, & I guess I'm just used to the way they do things by now. Things always take forever to get fixed, & they're always coming out with crazy new ideas before fixing their crazy old ones lol I haven't been on to use the IM yet (I've been pretty sick the past couple days), though I'm excited to. And I'm pretty excited about the Aquarium ~ It looks pretty cute.
However, I do have to totally agree with Mary's views on the customer service issue 3nodding

Well, I think they're ok ideas. Though I'd like to see the zOMG game come out before all these other features. I've been on gaia since October of 04 and there was talk about a MMO back then. I agree that they should focus on the problems that they have right now instead of bribing us with new features.

Gaia needs to take care of the things it already has instead of trying to introduce new things that could possibly cause glitches....This is one of those items if you like it you'll get it if not you won't.

I'm in agreement with you. They made such a big deal about zOMG (I even ended up buying a pair of those zOMG boxes - okay, well, one just to save for the value blaugh , but...), so when am I going to get to play?

Depending on the software development model they're using, not all issues can be resolved at once.
However, they've been hyping zOMG/battle system for about a couple of years now. They really should put more priority into working on it. Customer service and user safety are very important too because of various phishing attempts by unsavory users and the fact that there are kids around.
In the end, though, I'm glad there are a lot of things that you can do on Gaia. I wish there were slightly better advertisements though; for example, I don't want any of that "beat the tough guy and win something" crap.

I think it would be nice if there was some way for the fishing & the aquariums to accent or benefit each other, sort of like how some items that we wear can go into our homes.
They have me surprised - and hooked, of course!
I'd really-really-really like them to fix the account preference stuff. I've lost my guild links, my gold score and my daily chance. Those new buttons still won't save. cry
I think we need to feel proud that we understand Gaia is still just a baby - that has falls and victories - and is developing in a 'never-been-before' realm where we are the caregivers.
Some push buttons just haven't been invented yet for Gaia.
