Here is a story from another game (Yeah, I'm a nerd) called The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker. "This is but one of the legends of which people speak. Long ago, there existed a prosperous kingdom. It was blessed with tall mountains and beautiful forests. But an evil power arose in the kingdom. Just when all had thought that hope was lost, a young boy clad in green appeared, carrying the Blade of Evil's Bane, to drive off the evil. The boy came to be known as the Hero of Time. For a time, the kingdom knew peace. But the evil that all thought had been sealed away forever, once again rose to resume its dark designs. All waited for the hero to appear, but he did not come. Knowing that they did not have a chance against the evil, the people prayed to the gods. What became of that kingdom? None remain who know. However, on one island, it became customary to garb boys in green, like the Hero. The elders only wished the boys to know courage like the Hero of old."
