At first Kregola was all but desolate, it was made up by one large, elaborate forest, inhabited by the peaceful Veerin and other natural, mystical beasts...but, as migration arose, Kregola became a battleground. Many beings of different elements and races clashed in armed combat; Armies waged war against one another; slaughter, murder, and destruction...Thats what now makes up this once-beautiful, unmarred island...
why did this happen? you may ask.
The discovery of...The Elemental Stones.
Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Dark, and Light.
Whoever controls one of the stones will find that they possess unnatural strength in that element, but whoever controls them all controls the island of Kregola itself.

Native Race:

Veerin - Not much is known about these ancient forest dwellers, some believe them to be of elven descent but this can not be taken for certain because they are mostly made up of druids and shape shifters. Young Veerin start out learning how to shift into different forest animals, as to hide, fight, gather, and to essentially make their lives easier overall. As they get into adulthood they learn how to take on the shapes of different races/species and elemental beings, much more complex than the beast-forms from their childhood; Elders are known to be able to shift into the forms of mythical beasts and creatures.

The Elemental Stones:

Beleived to be creations of the first 6 Veerin, the stones were meant to keep all of Kregola in balance, which it did for the first 3000 peaceful years...
But the stones were passed down from generation to generation and with each passing the effects that the stones element had on the keeper became more and more severe. This ended with the descendants which became known as The Immortal Guardians.

Currency:

Simply enought the currency on Kregola, is the Gold coin, but some people are also willing to trade for other precious metals/rocks as well including diamonds, sapphires, rubies, silver, etc.

Religion:

It is not exactly known what the relgion of the Veerin was, but it is believed that they worshipped gods and goddesses of life and nature, and maybe celestial/mythical beings. This can be seen from the ancient architecture and scupltures throughout Kregola.
But due to the vast majority of humans on the island, the most prominent religion is that of Christianity.

History of Kregola

The first inhabitant of Kregola (that weren't the natives) were the humans, they washed ashore on the southwestern coast, which is now known as the Plagued Lands. This is where they first sighted the native Veerin, but greeting and introductions passed and an alliance between the two races was made.

But Due to the overwhelming amount of merchant/barter ships, and pirate ships that came ashore at these docks, the plague was brought to Kregola, and with that...the undead started to amerge. With the immense amout of people getting sick and dying; the humans migrated inland in hopes of outrunning the 'disease'. It is where they found thick, dark forests...they only had once choice; chop it down, and kill anything, or anyone who got in their way...

At first, the humans met great resistance from their former Veerin allies, but slowly and surely they pushed the Veerin back further into the island because of their numbers and technological advances.
When they reached a good midland spot, they started the construction of the great city, Kregola (which consequently became the name of the island itself shortly there-after) and all was well in this society.

Then the stories of the elemental stones began to furbish much heated debates, which eventually led to warfare. Sighting of different elemental beings throughout the countryside led to the discovery of places such as the Scorched Peninsula, Cherubium Palace, and Lake Soredon.

At this time, the king of the humans (and absolute monarch), King Leonard IV, was pressing towards obtaining these stones to help save all of Kregola and stop the spread of the plague. But, some peasants and nobility didnt believe his claims were completely true, and revolt broke out. One leader, couselor Murin, led his followers (which became known as the Nironians) across the continent and started the building of his own castle, Nironum. The Nironians, though, faced much hardships for they did not know of Murin's evil intents to search for the elemental stones to keep for himself and control all of Kregola. His followers saw this and many left to start their own towns and villages.

Two decades later, King Leo IV finally obtained the last elemental stone. Much excitement went around Kregola as he called for them all to be brought to the town center, where he would try to unleash the power within and save the island and the people. Leo had a crown made, with 6 slots for all the stones, and brought to him. He placed all the stones in their rightful spots, and put the crown on his head. Then, as he began to concentrate, the stones began to glow and streams of light issued forth from each individual stone. The light seemed to travel in the direction of the place that its element calls home, on the island. Then, Leo began talking in some ancient language and and aura sourrounded him as he stood up and outstretched his arms towards the heavens.

Just when it seemed like peace was settling on Kregola it all happened, the event that marked the downfall of Kregolan society...
Murin appeared out of no where and shot a arcane bolt at Leo's head. Energy surged in the crown as Leo fell to his knees. When he reverbed off the ground the energy seemed to explode out of the crown, sending the stones out, back to where they belonged. Leo's last breath carried the words, "I have failed you all..."

No direct lineage to King Leo has led more wars and fighting, little bits of anarchy can be seen through the contry side...
Will no one rise up? Is there any close relative of Leo that has some decency in their heart to work for the better of the people than for themselves?
only time can tell...
