I saw this idea in another forum and it seemed to work well, so I'm going to try a thread of my own in this guild.

Yes, that's right... this is a murder mystery... and one of you will be the murderer.

The story begins at a fashionable island resort in the Caribbean. The entire island has been rented out during a weeklong party that is being held for the birthday of J.T. Escrowe, an American oil tycoon. You are a guest: a close friend, an employee, a family member... maybe even one of the dozens of detectives hired to ensure that nothing goes wrong.
Suddenly, the entire island is thrown into chaos. Escrowe is found lying in a pool of his own blood on the beach. Nobody is allowed to leave the island until the police have finished the investigation. Everybody is a suspect... even you.

~~THE WAY THIS WILL WORK~~

-All profiles will be PMed to me. In it, specify whether or not you want to be the murderer. From there, I will select a person to play the murderer.
--That person gets to choose who dies and how, and will notify me by PM when they're ready to kill somebody. (NOTE: You must have a GOOD REASON to have murdered that person, otherwise it won't happen.)
---I will be playing the part of the shadow murderer... the person who is seen by the victim but nobody else. I will post how the victim dies and what the victim says. It is your job to try and figure out which of the people involved in this RP is the murderer.
----Once you're dead, you're dead. Sorry, but I can't have you coming back from the dead to reveal who's the murderer. You can stay on, however, as a ghost.

RULES:
1) Don't just leave the RP! Wait at least until your character is murdered, please. I hate it when people just disappear right in the middle.
2) THIS IS NOT A FANTASY RP. Sorry, no magical powers or anything. You can be filthy rich and powerful, but this is a reality-based RP.
3) If you're the murderer, don't go about dropping hints. it spoils the fun.
4) Multiple characters are allowed. Just make sure you keep em all straight.
5) HAVE FUN!

PLOT:

The story begins the evening of the party. You enter by being ferried across a moat to an island in the middle of a gigantic manmade lake, where massive tents have been set up, sheltering food, champagne, people, musical bands of all types. Escrowe sits on a throne in the very center tent, where he can see anything and everything.
