Gabrielle Camille vs Yata D'jinnAfter countless battles of seemingly terminal intensity, you find some form of reprieve. A city of golden light stands in the wake of the clouds high above the lands. You reach out for the light only to be blinded by its radiance. Upon regaining your sight, you find that you too seem to be floating among the clouds. The song of angels fills the airwaves around you, but none seem to be in sight. The only thing seen standing in opposition towards you is the presence of your opponent.
Let the semifinals begin.
Positive Elements Light Wind
Negative Elements Darkness Poison

Gabrielle had waited for the next arena to be announced to her for weeks. Weeks which she had used to rehydrate her body, heal her wounds and work on canalizing her energy. But mostly weeks which she had spent praying in order to keep control over her mind and this idle darkness within her mind and soul. She had also train on her control of lightening. She had to release energy blast all at once, to use that technique, leaving her control temporarily down for a second. She trained every day. Gaining an additional once of control each time. When she reached the Golden Walls, she was able to cast small targeted lightenings without turning into a monster...but anything stronger still made her out of control.
Gabrielle was quite ready for the next fight when what she thought to be an illusion cast her in the sky. She remembered a city of light but now she could only see the sky and the clouds...and a purplish troll. She looked down but the clouds were masking the view, she felt relieved, at least they would not fall! Then her amber eyes went towards the strange...man standing not to far from her. She bowed to him and introduced herself. "I am Gabrielle Camille, a Holy Knight. May I know who my opponent is?" she asked. To be honest she was quite interested by the tall creature standing in front of her, she was tall herself, for a human woman, but He was tall!

((I wish I could introduce Yata with his new body, but since the events haven't happened, This will be Yata perhaps a day or two before the mind transfer incident. I hope you don't mind, Zulma.))
Yata cast his gaze to the woman staring up at him. Normally Yata would be keen on detail of this woman, but his mind was very distracted. Thoughts of the traitor Noah and his recent promotion to Temporary Captain of the Dawn ailed him. However much so this distraction brought the troll, he knew that this woman must have been very powerful and cunning to get to this level of the battle. He tried to shake off his worry, and dare he say, nervousness as the Holy Knight addressed herself as Gabrielle. "A pretty name you have, Miss Gabrielle..." Yata began with a compliment, his wandering mind remembering his first encounter with one of the holy knights. Though he knew not many were as Ephraim, he figured he'd start with a compliment anyway. "...If you didn't know, it's rough translation comes down to 'Hero of God'..." Yata was definitely distracted... for reasons unknown to the Holy Knight, but as clear as day to the troll. "...It suits the atmosphere, don't you think?" He said, looking directly at her... and yet, his blank white eyes seemed to see through her.
His smile betrayed him, though... it almost always did. It was his carnivorous smile almost always planted upon his face, even if he didn't speak. Still from the tone of his voice, he seemed far away... "My name is Yata'Djinn, a Dawn Strider... I am ready when you are."

((I do not at all, this is fine with me, Yata, white jacket friend wink ))
Gabrielle's face did not move although her eyes smiled at his comment. "It does indeed." Her name had been chosen by Old Priest Francois, who spoke an old language, long forgotten and spoken by few, called French or francais. When he introduced himself she gave him a short nod. He was a Dawn Strider. For him to reach this level she guessed that his powers were not limited to basic Dawn Striders' tricks. She was thinking, trying to remember if she had heard about Yata'Djinn before. The name sounded familiar.
Despite his polite ton and answers, it was obvious that the man or rather the troll was not there. He seemed lost in his thoughts. She wondered if that was genuine or if that was a technique to decrease her focus. He invited her to start their dual and yet made no movement towards getting ready. She needed to know which techniques were his. With her two katanas her skills were transparent to read. But with mind related skills such as the Dawn Striders' ones it was much more obscure.
Gabrielle decided herself. She took Eosy from her back. Slowly, taking her time, she walked towards Yata'Djinn, her wind sword in her hand. She was heading straight ahead, facing him in the 'en-garde' position. She would see if once in sword range he would parry with a weapon of him own, disappear, jump away, attack before she reached him...She got herself ready.

Yata may have been distracted, but thoughts of battle soon tethered him to the battlefield. As Gabrielle approached with Eosy, Yata drew his own blade. It was a short sword of a lovely white metal. In the light, it gave off a gentle golden aura, though it held no real energy within it. Yata would make this battle face to face. He had been honing his skills since the last battle, and made his battle strategy that of a up and open one. His short sword in his right hand, he readied himself to touch blades with the Holy Knight, his stance was that of a defensive one. If he could, he'd let his opponent reveal her abilities first. Analytic advantage on his side, Yata examined the woman's movements carefully. There was no need to rush in yet...

Their blades met without sparks or shocks. That was obvious that they were both trying each other's strength. His posture was showing that he would obviously not physically attack her in the near future. She stepped back, circling around him. She was observing him, trying to understand him. She needed to focus. She needed to center on her and not on him. He was dissipating her energy just by making her wonder.
She had taken her wind swords first. This element was echoing her inner turmoils. She had always being more comfortable with it. She liked playing with the air flows forming them in caresses which ended up in slashing arrows. She had loved air since her childhood, she had learned to like water and appreciate it. This element before foreign to her was now her ally.
If Gabrielle wanted to win, she would have to attack frankly, not to test him. She would have to attack to hit, attack to wound. She took Aqual, clearing her mind of doubts and leaving strong will and determination in it. Her body embraced her mind and she pounced on him. Aqual was horizontal, parallel to the floor, held by her left hand at stomach level. Eosy was held higher, in 'engarde' position, ready for a downward slash from his left shoulder down his chest. This was a basic attack but which could not be parried by a single blade.

Yata continued examining her with blank white eyes, his smile in the situation hopefully psyching her out. Most of his opponents would be wondering if he would eat them by now. As Gabrielle readied herself, so did Yata, tightening his stance. As Gabrielle lunged forward with her two blades, Yata jumped back a few feet, Eosy and Aqual missing him by inches. Yata then took this opportunity to push Gabrielle back a little bit. Two darts appeared on either hand of the troll, him launching them swiftly at Gabrielle, one heading for her right shoulder, the other aiming for her chest. At this close range, Gabrielle would have to do some fancy footwork to dodge, giving Yata the opportunity to gain some distance.

Gabrielle was not surprised that Yata avoided her attack. She was rather surprised thought that he waited to long to jump. She was quite impressed at the size of his teeth, seeing from closer, she wondered how her arm would end up, would it come to close to the troll's mouth.
She opened wider eyes when the sword he was holding left place to darts. How could he switch weapon so fast, especially in the middle of an action? I shall not make the mistake on underestimating him... she warned herself.
From so close range, she could not avoid both, nor parry both of them...but she could dodge to her left to avoid the one aimed at her right shoulder and then using Eosy, held in her right hand, she slided the dart in two. She 'landed' crouched her eyes already focusing on her opponent. He had put some distance between them...
Gabrielle decided to let him launch the next attack. It might have been playing his game and maybe not... Maybe he was expecting to attack and maybe he was expecting her to not wait and launch the next one...she was not in his head after all... But in any case she would not wait purposeless. Slowly her right arm made small circles, gathering winds around her. Winds which would deviate simple darts or that she could use as whip or arrows...

Yata's eyes widened as she realized what she was doing, a tactic of winds almost as Ephraim had used them. Regular darts would be ineffective against her, but his armor piercers were a different story. Still, apparently it was his turn for an offensive, and not wanting to reveal his more potent powers just yet, he would stick to the ones that weren't meant to harm. Not exactly... Yata's sword popped into his hand once more as it slid out of his sleeve, Him taking an offensive stance, his right hand and sword pointing forward at Gabrielle as he put his right foot forward. Out of nowhere, Yata floated at blinding speeds directly at Gabrielle, his sword pointing, aiming to skewer her head. It was a very open attack, but that was the point.

Gabrielle got herself ready when Yata attacked her. The winds surrounding her where not strong enough to put him off balance and he appeared at close range slightly in advance on the timing she had expected. But that did not disturbed her. Such a bold move! She parried with Eosy in her right hand and aimed her left blade to his stomach, right in front of her. At this distance she could not miss. How could have he made such a mistake?

Yata's smile, face and entire being faded away in front of Gabrielle as Aqual seemingly pierced his stomach. The Yata that had just charged Gabrielle was an illusion, and right behind Gabrielle Yata stood still, arm crossed, sword sheathed as he stared her down. She would have never known he was there if he hadn't spoke. "You assume too much, Miss Gabrielle." He said, his shadow finally reaching her as a cloud shifted the rays of the sun. Indeed, he loomed over her cynically. For now, he had one goal in mind, fear. If he could cause Gabrielle to be clouded by fear, he would be able to read her better. A dark chuckle emanated from Yata as his shadow dissipated, before Gabrielle could turn, Yata was already back in his original spot, a few feet away from the Holy knight with his arms crossed, simply smiling and staring.

"An illusion!" the woman gasped, stopping the winds immediately. But her surprised did not last. She straightened herself and followed the movements of Yata. If he were here, he was not a simple knight...she recalled her thoughts before the fight had even started.
"Impressive Lord Yata." she recognized. She was thinking...that maybe she was thinking too much. She needed to fight with her guts and feelings. Thinking too much while facing someone with such abilities would until make her crazy. He could drive her mad, like a horse enraged by a bee. She could not let that happen. She had to win. And she would win.
She stared back at him. She had an idea.

Yata said nothing as he simply stared, unmoving, smiling his terrible smile, sword sheathed and arms crossed. He seemed to wait for Gabrielle's advance in a rather eerily patient manner. He seemed like a statue, guarding over some unknown treasure. The moment seemed even...peaceful. The moments continued like this... until an unusual shadow fell upon Gabrielle. From the very Sky, Yata plummeted down upon Gabrielle, his sword out in open, threatening to slice her right down the middle. Indeed, if Yata'Djinn was known for anything, it was setting devious traps.

Gabrielle was slowly turning Eosy in her hand, as if she was trying to find properly her grip. When the shadow came upon her, she raised her head and hand simultaneously. To give some momentum to her movement she bent her elbow, bringing her blade close to her shoulder, before releasing her movement and extending her arm towards the right. Her blade and Yata's hit each other with strength.
But this time Gabrielle's movement did not stop there. The momentum the Holy Knight had given to the blade gathered winds with her katana. While her blade was stopped by Yata's sword, the winds went on towards the troll. Not winds meant to cut but winds strong enough to put him away and make him lose his balance.
((sorry for the delay...I am back and ready to fight!!!))

Indeed, as the Winds Gabrielle sent at Yata began to push the troll away, Yata's eyes widened. Yata loosened his limbs, instead of letting the wind unbalance him, he used the wind to his advantage, it pushing him backwards in a rotating motion, much like a flip, into the air before he tightened his stance once more, letting his wight bring him back to the ground on his knees. Yata's blade slipped into his sleeve as he shouted, "Peirce!" His open sleeve launching slim darts at Gabrielle with the power to shoot straight through a wall of steel. Yata launched about five of them in a row, aiming for Gabrielle's direction after the first shot.
