So I'm training my horse to pick up his right lead, and I'm having some success, but he's fighting me mostly. I think he knows what I want him to do, but is choosing to not do it. He has picked it up a few times now within the first few tries, but every session after he'd done it twice it takes me 10+ breaking him back down into a trot and re-cuing him for the right lead to get him to pick it up a third time. I am doing other things in between lopes so he doesn't get bored.
Any ideas on what I can do to solve the attitude problem?
Note: he's 6 and I have to train him myself. I can't send him away to training and the owner of the barn I board at *really* doesn't like it when you bring in trainers -.-
