Towards the back of the cove, the foot of the cliffs and a few massive fallen sections of rock form a nook sheltered from sea breezes, but exposed to the sun throughout the day. At almost twice the height of an elf up a steep rock face, a small ledge partly obscures the opening of a cave that slopes gently upwards into the rock far enough to be twilight-dark at the farthest part. The interior is cramped, with only room for about two or three to lay side by side at it's widest part about midway, but snug and well sheltered.

Blaze steped up the side of a boulder at the base of the cliff, balancing carefully. He sent unexcitedly to Savith. **There is a small opening right there. It looks deep enough to be a cave, though.** He hopped off, landing with a soft thud on the sand, his hand touching the ground briefly before he straigtened back up. **Does it look good from your angle?**

Savith turned his head in Blaze's direction as the send flickered to him from the distance between them. Rising from whatever he was doing, the Chosen flies as if summoned. He pauses as the nook comes into sight, peering at it. **Seems small... unless you mean for a personal nest... den... for yourself?**

**That is exactly what I mean.** Testing the strength of the rough handholds on the rock, Blaze lifted himself a little ways off the ground, then got purchase with his feet and scuttled up the face with all the shure speed of a lizard. Getting a leg up over the ledge, he levered himself up, and sat on the edge, jerking on it with his entire weight to make shure it was secure. He looked at Savith as if he was in the middle of some drawn out discussion. **You're not busy, are you?**

Savith shakes his head as the rock climber gets even with him. He folds his arms over his chest as he sends, **No, not particularly. What can I do for you?**

Blaze got right to the point. **I want to know why you let me know so much, why you opened your memories to me in song. Was it some sick idea of a joke? Did you think I wanted to see, hear, taste, feel, smell that?** His send carried the direct, straightforward force of a sledgehammer to the face. **It still tastes like sick in my mouth. I tried to forget them as soon as I got them, but those images; your memories, are stuck in my head. What in the names of the High Ones are you? Furthermore, what is your "Lord?" I was content to leave you with your own secrets, but now you have gone too far, and made them into my nightmares, and my problem.** Blaze was standing by now, his face twisted into a pained grin as he flooded his sends with all the venom he could find. **Why me?**

Savith's lips part faintly, and his arms slacken slightly. **No,** he sends in reply, a cold sense of faint dread in his thoughts. **It was not a sick joke. I had meant only to give you the melodies, not to share teh memories that came with them. As for the nightmares, those are something I have experience in removing, should you wish it.** And even as he offers, there's a faint shudder. More dreamless nights.

**If you did not mean too, why did you?** Blaze felt Savith's fear, and aimed for it. **What are you afraid of? What are you hiding from? Certainly not me; I am just a filthy, barbaric savage in your eyes, am I not?** He replayed for a few seconds the image the glider had given him of his children and their mothers, with rutheless attention to detail. His mind reeked of this-is-what-I-do-with-what-you-give-me. At Savith's offer to block his dreams, the fireshaper's rage multiplied, his sends gaining a tinge of the same debilitating heat he'd first ever greeted Savith with. **My dreams are my own. No matter how horrible they might be, I have no intention of letting you or anyone tamper with them or take them away.** Blaze was letting himself go, his mind completely open and unshielded. His body had bent only slightly into a fighting crouch, and his hands were curled into loose fists. The air around him rippled, the heat of the sun and rocks clinging to him like sand to wet skin.

Why did he? That was a very good question. He needed to? A shared burden is easier to carrying? He was trying to sort it out for himself still? Again? Savith frown a soft little frown, eyes narrowing as Blaze fired at him with his own memories. It forced teh glider's face to turn away, eyes to close, and mind to reel. His powers flickered slightly as he had to fight off those demons being forced into his mind be another. It was not a wholy new sensation. After all, His Lord could do far worse. It was, unfortunately, the heat that came with it that was new, for he was used to bone-numbing cold. The memories replayed themselves and Savith started to curl, started withdrawing, until another memory came to the fore. He'd fought these demons once with his soulmate's aid, but he wasn't share of facing them alone. It pulled the glider from the sky, forcing him to sink to the ground to crumple in agony. **Myself,** his mind replied as the heat-visions of the remembered disgust filled him in ways he was unable to block. He tried to press back, mind almost flailing about until a remember touch promised to bring a centering. **Myself,** he repeated with more strength, lifting his head to glare up at Blaze from his kneeling position in the sand below. **I fear that I am still capable of such loathing cruelty, and that without the excuse of Orders and Duty the darkness would be of my own design. Filthy and barbaric and savage you may be, but you are among all that is left of our race. What future have we if not together? Why did I share? High Ones only knows. I hadn't shared melodies that meant so much before.** As the heat began to tinge the sends, droplets of sweat began to tease Savith's brow.

Blaze stepped of the ledge and landed heavily on all fours squarely infront of Savith, his face screwed up into a narrow-eyed snarl. Locking eyes with the glider, he sent and spoke the same thing, his send tearing acrost Savith's mind like the heatwave before a sandstorm, the unformed edges of a blacksend like tiny flecks of blackrock. **"This is what I have to share!"**
Horrific images flashed acrost his mind, a slideshow of destruction. The mountains bursting like infected wounds, red-hot rocks the size of wolves cratering the sand, a terrified elf one moment; a death and burial a single sickening moment later, a death-scream as a fist-size stone seperated arm and shoulder, choking ash, the dunes rippling like water, and finally, a titanic rumble as the bedrock split, one half rising and the other sliding under. His view was from the edge of the rising plate, staring back in horrified awe at the eys of his tribe, his lifemate, and in her arms, the shining orange eyes of their newborn child. Then the orange eyes were matched perfectly with an orange tide as the earth-blood poured out of the tear in it's skin, and part of his mind went dark and shattered into sand. Then the heat whelled up, the ageless heat of no elven design, and filled the void. He became the cause.
**"I fear myself as you fear yourself. I fear what burns inside me, and what it once was, still is, and will ever be. A destroyer. But I am my own Lord, and so must you be yours. If we are to have hope of ever being what we once were, we elves, we must do more than band together in trust and friendship. We must fight for our survival, our right to live, and rise again from the ashes!"**
He grabbed Savith by the collar of his flightsuit, dragging him to his feet. His sends opened up fully, no longer directed as an attack, but pulsing with life, heat, and light. A second voice added to the roaring outpouring, and the rocks and sand around them baked as the heat sought fuel in writhing, shimmering tendrils. **"Now will you fold with a whimper, like some insect underfoot? Or will we live, burn bright, and fly free forever!"**

The sharp edges of Blaze's molten send clawed across Savith's mind like nothing he'd felt and yet so eeriely familiar. The pain was familiar. The reason was not.
The horrific images stole Savith's breath away, leaving him motionless as he watched, heard, tasted, felt, knew. The visual loss of mate and child rocked Savith to the core as echoing feelings, that hated knowledge and sympathetic vertigo of the deaths of soulmates, spun out of control. And yet, Blaze's words, overlaying the images, forced him to listen instead of falling into the dizzying memories. He must be his own Lord. As he had once been Head of the Chosen. As he had been his mate's rock and shelter.
Savith didn't fight as Blaze grabbed his fur-lined flight suit. The heat which had pooled about them at first leeched the moisture from Savith's body in large beads of sweat. Now, as he was hauled bodily to his feet, the sweat was gone, replaced by a parched over baked heat. Blaze's question reverberated in the glider's mind, dredging up memories of his own voice telling his mate something so similar. His hand came up, moving slowly, until in a flash he seemed to move.
Eyes narrowed.
Lips pressed into a cold line.
Both hands opened.
And Savith pushed Blaze from him with a wave of magic as his mind lashed out in reply. It was nearly wordless, the send, yet so wordfilled all meaning condensed into a single thought, **Free.** It commanded to be let go. It begged to never be left alone. It howled to be untethered. It cried to be anchored down. It resolved itself as a new dogma, the renewal of a promise to another.

As Savith's eyes narrowed, Blaze's eyes widened, and his snarl bent into a mad grin. The force of the magic threw him skidding backwards, his feet leaving twin furrows in the sand. He doubled over panting, his hands braced against his knees. The tendrils of heat twined around his legs, grasping for him, but he dispersed them with a thought, and looked up at the glider he'd so recently been disguted with. **Blood and thunder. We will have a chance yet.** His send carried a proud awe, and with it, a sturdy trust. He took a few steps forward, and offered a sort of mental handshake, his hands on his hips and his face tilted slightly up at the taller glider. **No more senseless animosity?**

**Wasn't any to begin with,** Savith replied, a faint sense of light head vertigo to his mental voice. Coherent thought waved to the Chosen then send a post card from a wind swept mountain top. He lingered a heartbeat before he turned toward the sea, turned to go. His legs tensed, preparing to leap from the sand and into flight, but the motion drew further argument from his ankle, which up until this point had been complaining ever since he dropped to the sand. He swayed a bit, brought a hand to his temple and forced himself up into the air with the unsteady grace of a fledging shoved out of the nest two days before his time.

If there wasn't animosity, what was it? Blaze imagined he'd never truly get the glider figured out. When Savith stumbled in the air he tooks a few quick strides after Savith, then stopped, watching his progress with slight worry. "Y'all right there? If I did hurt ya, don't tell Dancer! She'll have my ears for hurtin' yer delicate self again." His mind brushed against Savith's, carrying a faint hey-where-are-you-going-so-soon, but didn't try to keep Savith from leaving. If the glider needed some alone time, he deserved it.

**Just... hot,** Savith's mind flickered in reply. The thought was weighed down by the desire to get dropped feet first into an ice-rimmed pond in the middle of whitecold by a laughing soulmate because he got ordered not to fly until cleared by a healer. He's unevenly tryingt o make his way toward the ocean, eyes semi-glazed.
