Ok, so in the GD espically people get flamed for using photoshop. But what these people claim I doubt many people know how to use. It's common knowledge that I myself use photoshop. I don't need too, I just like adding filters to get a different look. All I did on my current sig for example was brighten it.
Alot of professional photographers use photoshop to edit their photos until the desired result is achieved.
So, in this appearance based world of the Internet what are your views on photoshop?
And what do you guys think of this as my new sig pic:
Alot of people have said my current isn't my best on the GD.

I think it depends on its usage. If you're like changing your eye color or something to appeal to anyone who looks at like your sig pic, then that's lame. :/ But I think it's a lot more common that it has other more interesting uses like the filters you use or editing for artistic photography. In which case its pretty cool & very useful. I don't have it, though, and I've never used it. xD
As for the picture, it comes off as really fake to me. D: & I don't mean like it doesn't look like that's how you really look. I mean you look like you're trying to be happy but your expression comes off as awkward and nervous.

.:: ::. I love to photoshop pics. (its apparent) I dunno- It's... a way to pass time. I like to make something imaginative with it. Deepening the mood in a picture- That's my main objective. Add a new perspective, that's always fun.
I'm a noob, I know. I'm only on the colors/filter/brightness/contrast level.. there's so much to explore! And there's nothing wrong with using it to enhance a picture. Of course, there's a fine line between enhancing and changing.... If you want to hide who you are in a picture and make someone completely different, it's your funeral.. in the end.
Photoshop = Creative Outlet
Amy: Now about your picture? I agree, you've shot better ones. This one's a clean, front angle. Different from the others, but with the same color palette. Your jaw and neck remind me of Jodie Foster, lol! It's a pretty picture, but the GD is the GD. They like myspace angles, emo haircuts, eye liner, thin body parts, ... uh in other words "a scene kid look". This shot is more than that, it's artistic. Regarding your best GD shot? I'd say the one on the front page of this guild, and some other.

I'm with you there Previously, I tend to use it when I'm bored and have nothing better to do. razz I think people need to realise there is photography and photo manipulation as an art form. I've made a few manipulations myself, mainly by adding textures and such.
I also agree on the GD... you have to be hot and scene, although alot of people are starting to get sick of it recently. Personally I think the scene fads slowly slowly dying out now. I mean I was scene a few years ago for crying out loud and it's still going on. lol
I changed it anyways, I think it had a classy look. Most my smiles look fake apparently. crying But I needed a change, I'll probably change it again in a few days. You guys know what I'm like. rofl

it's good to an extent. i just use it to mess with colortones, like, levels. since i like a vintage feel. but i really hate when people over-airbrush. it's so annoying. and usually they're trying to hide something. :/

I use it to the extent a film photographer uses a darkroom.

I hate that so much. In total honesty I never get rid of anything. If I have a huge spot I just don't take a picture! I can't imagine taking something away from me just to look good. I think that's just me though. lol
Levels are awesome. <3

Thanks previously. redface
I had a rant to myself and the GD were far too indesicive to help me choose today. I'm sick of the hurtful comments I get now and then about editing my pics. emo I almost had this one:

My round pic is imo my worst. I couldn't get it how I want, it's not as creative as I wanted, I made alot of mistakes. I'm just hoping I won't be eliminated. eek

aaand the one you have on your sig now is cool too. xD (DA'sOtherVersion.)
I was VERY hesitant with this round's pic. But then again I almost always am... yet this was worse because, hell, its one of the 7 deadly sins.
Not my best, I think. : /
And you will stay in the contest. D<

I've just hit a creative slump. I'm so anxious and excited about going to university and being tired all the time isn't helping I don't think. But I'm gonna spend all of Saturday in bed to sleep and rest and have a lazy day I think. I need a break.

i think people blame photoshop when someone looks naturally nice. i add filters so my skin looks clearer, but i also like the colours the filters give. i generally use them just for the lustre look.
i am lucky, no one moans at my edits because they are very subtle. but i dont ever use it to clear our my blemishes - i use it coz i like the colours and i see no harm in that at all. the fact my skin looks nice is just a bonus i guess.
people seem to think that average GDers are advanced at photoshop and can edit a pic to some immense level. its a silly assumption.
