I know not many will read this but I decided to post for fun anyway.
I haven't been a fan of Rush all my life. ( I actually spent my entire teenage years looking for a band I really liked) It all started about a year ago when I was watching an episode of Futurama that I had never seen before. They made a funny reference to Rush in the episode and the song was Tom Sawyer (it had to do with space invaders). I decided to investigate further with my yahoo music account and the song "working them angels" came up. I listened to a few other songs and decided that they were the band I had been looking for. So in may of 2008 I decided to go out and get every single rush album (minus the compilation and live albums, I can get those later). It is now the end of August and I have a number of albums. this is what I have and the order I got them in:
1. Snakes and Arrows 2. Moving Pictures 3. Vapor Trails 4. Grace Under Pressure 5. 2112 6. Hold Your Fire, and Power Windows (21st birthday a few days ago)
added on September 14th, 2008:
7. Test for Echo and A Farewell to Kings
added on February 24th, 2009:
8. Counterparts
That is what I have so far, mostly due to lack of availability and Record stores (their albums fly of the shelves every time (one almost got me in the head O_o ))
I plan to post every time I get an album until I complete the whole set. So far I count 21 (thats not including any compilation, live and EP or LP albums) If you have any suggestions on which album I should get next just go ahead and post it here in the thread. Lets see how long it takes me. Then I will start on the live albums and video box sets.

HEMISPHERES. It has Cygnus X-1 Book II, and La Villa Strangiato.
Oooh ooh, and get A Farewell to Kings, too. It contains the first part of Cygnus X-1, Closer to the Heart and Xanadu.

Definitely get A Farewell to Kings if you can find it.
My personal favorite, after Moving Pictures, is Test for Echo.

Hmm... I was think of getting A "Farewell to Kings" next. That or "Permanent Waves"
but so far out of all the ones I've listened to "Hold your Fire" is my favorite thus far. Its funny because that came out the same year I was born too. (1987) xd

Ok so on Sunday September 14th I managed to catch Fry's electronics on a restock day and they had just gotten a fresh shipment of Rush albums. By luck I obtained these two albums:
1. A Farewell to Kings
2. Test for Echo
I'd just like to say Thanks for the suggestions. They are both very good albums, both with their own kind of flavor to them that makes them awesome.
Please post more suggestions because I want to know what you all think I should get next. (read OP for list of other albums)

You need Caress of Steel. It's horribly underrated, and incredibly good.

No love for Signals? That one's probably my second favorite after Moving Pictures...

Hemispheres should be near the top of your list, as it bears two amazing (mini-)epics. Of the post-HYF albums you don't have, Counterparts should top the list of what you should dig for, though outside that and Snakes & Arrows, Roll the Bones is my favorite. Also, Caress of Steel is an absolute necessity, and it's the most underrated Rush album of them all. The band needs to play Fountain of Lamneth live!

Well I figure I should update this tread seeing as how I haven't done that in a while.
I've run into a snag and can't find any albums in my area that I don't already have and there are no good record stores near my house.
But please keep the suggestions coming.
