Unlike many of the students at Hogwarts, Rainey doesn't really like to be arouns others all that much. She comes off as timid and quiet, even studious. She speaks quietly and often abandons her sentances if she feeels no one is listening. She hates being asked questions, because she knows she must answer them, and she doesn't want to be rude. Rainey is always respectful to others and modest, she was raised to be so. She never jumps into a conversation unless the piques her interest. Many people are surprised to hear her opinion, as she doesn't force it upon others, and she often enjoys listening to others' thoughts. Rainey is actually quite judgemental, but everyone thinks she's too nice, she couldn't have a nasty thought in her head.
Rainey had always preferred to be alone. She likes to be able to hear her own thoughts, and not be distracted by whoever is around her, making a rukus. When she is alone, usually curled up in the library, common room, or Room of Requirement (but you don't know that), Rainey reads and Rainey hums. Because of her musical background, Rainey learned to compose at a young age. She writes musical notes on everything, beyond the basic quarter notes and half notes that everyone knows. Her current symphony consumes most of her private time now. When she's not thinking about music, Rainey reads anything she can get her hands on, whether it be Muggle or magical text.
As much as Rainey listens to others, she judges every word everyone says. She judges every action you take and everything you put on, even your genetics. This is why she never openly says what she thinks, because it's really rude, whatever it is. She can pinpoint exactly what you're doing wrong, but she'll leave you to your own problems.
Rainey doesn't have low self-esteem, she just sort of fears critisism (ironic, isn't it?). She doesn't strive, but if she stumbles upon perfection, she takes full advantage of the situation. She's a really 'go-with-the-flow' kind of girl, needing neither to take control or to follow. But as great as this may sound to someone else, it gets to be trouble. For example, "What do you want to eat, Rainey?" she answers with "Whatever they're serving." And to "Is there something you need?" she'll say, "Well, I don't really need anything." She is a bit of a bother to take on outings.
As indecisive she is about things like that, it may be surprising to see that Rainey takes anything by determination. After the bell rings, Rainey picks up all of her things and goes to her next class, even if she was in the middle of writing a sentance. Rainey is often weving through crowds with papers and notebooks in her arms and her bag almost falling off her shoulder. Contrary to popular belief, this is not because Rainey hates a certain class or is a teacher's pet and wants to arrive early for another. Rainey just tries her best to stay out of trouble. She doesn't care enough to suck up to the teacher, as half the classes bore her anyway. She has a bit of an affinity for Transfiguration, Astronomy, and Potions, but she does most of her homework in class, and doesn't waste a single second of her personal time on assignments, because they're already done. The only reason Rainey does this is because she's afraid to get in trouble. If it were up to her, homework would be abolished completely, so she wouldn't have to work so hard in class, and so she could concentrate on other things...
Like boys. It seems Rainey doesn't have much experience with boys. She likes plenty of them, but doesn't tell anyone unless it's squeezed out of her, and then she gets paranoid that the boy will find out, causing her to lose interest in him, so that if he asks her about it, Rainey can deny that she likes him. It seems like a complicated way of doing things, but Rainey doesn't want to rush important things like that. Yes, Rainey does rush through the halls so she doesn't recieve detention, but this, romance, is important. Rainey's idea of the perfect man would be... too hard to describe. She wants to believe that she'll 'just know it' but there's no way that that'll ever happen. She wants someone who will make her happy, never depricate her, take charge when needed, but be gentle and understanding at the smae time. But at the present time, it seems like too much to ask for, since Rainey's never had a real boyfriend.
