This was quite possibly the worst case yet, and it seemingly came out of now where. One moment the girl was angrily defying everyone around her the next, she collapsed on the floor unable to use her legs.
Once this was called to his attention Acklin swooped in and got straight to work securing the girl who was going quickly down hill. This came to all of them as a complete surprise, no child yet had lost the use of their legs and was reaching such a critical stage. The younger the child it seemed the harder it hit. The Flamingo boy may have gotten to this bad of a stage if his body hadn't put itself into a coma to slow the infection.
This was a breakthrough on the virus, now there was evidence that this virus did not mainly affect the brain as they originally had thought but only began there before advancing and attacking the spine. Kate was quickly rushed off into a separate room by the doctor and his assistant, this were looking grim but at the same time bright, this meant one step closer to a vaccine.

Even as ill as she was, Kate still tried to get rid of the techs. Feebly waving around her the girl tried to swat them away. Kate never noticed that her hands moved slowly through the air and the kicks she tried didn't stir her legs at all. She didn't want to go with the techs. She didn't want to be here! It huuurrrt!
Transfered, hooked up and in her new room the last dredges of fight seeped away in the face of the dizziness, and the fuzziness of the world. Kate simply lay there, staring up at the ceiling and drifting in a fog.

This little girl had been through a lot, and it was not yet determined whether or not the paralysis she had acquired was permanent or not. Though if it were the vaccine that was quickly administered should halt all further progress of the virus.
As Acklin without a word administered the shot, he left just as quickly to go off to the next child.
