Apocalyptica, the cello masters of metal, were formed in 1993 in Finland.
Their style is generally neo-classical (hell, they even use cellos) and symphonic (again... cellos).
The first songs I heard by them were these instrumental songs the likes of which I hadn't heard before... it just blew me away and forced me to search out more songs like it and eventually I found out who the band was... but enough anecdotes for now, the point is their instrumental songs are (in my opinion) their greatest, and although some of them have been done/redone with lyrics, they still seem better without them. Usually.
Their first project was Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos (or a title close to that) and they covered a bunch of their hits, amazingly well. heart Sad But True heart
Alright, so we can get to discussions, by favorite song by them was a toss-up between either Prolougue (apprehension) from their 'Reflections' album (2003) or Path from the album 'Cult'. It's hard to decide...
Prologue (Apprehension) heart
Path heart
Enjoy!! heart
