Well, a topic came up the other day discussing the economy of Gaia. There are many flaws to it, mostly including the Cash Shop, but others included how some people have services to off. What kind of services are they talking about? Drawing and such sucks for those who cannot draw, and the market only works if you HAVE something to sell. So, the economy is flawed in general. Thoughts? Expand this topic please, I want to hear more of what everyone else thinks.

I don't really see anything wrong with the cashshop it's the same as donation items.
People b***h about prices going up yet the same people b***h about the items going down when they make things like the bag of win and the OMG giftbox.
So people who can't draw can buy things from the cash shop.
But I do think they should lower the prices for people who can't really afford to buy things from the cash shop ^^;
Lets face it posting for gold can take a very long time and you don't get alot.
I do think gaia is getting alot of things about sex in though

I also don't see anything wrong with the cash shop either. what I really hate is the marketplace tax. It's pointless. all it's doing is causing inflation.

Eternal Midnight Sun I also don't see anything wrong with the cash shop either. what I really hate is the marketplace tax. It's pointless. all it's doing is causing inflation. Actually it's not, it's a gold sink. That means less gold floating around gaia, the cheaper things get. That's why they need to have more GOOD items in the regular shops to even things out.

Well, the main issue of the economy is definitly the Cash Shop, since people can't get it through their heads that +Poses=/=+Gold. The tax that was supposed to be a gold sink sunk itself because 1) Only 2% was taken, and 2) It was the seller that was taxed. Immediately, people just adjusted the prices to make up for the losses.
There is another huge inflation beam, though: the Daily Chance. It's a wonderful thing, but the inks, bugs, trash, and flowers coming out of it give Gaians an easy way to access the items, rather than hunting them down the right way in Towns. I can understand a rare bug, occasionally, like a Great Monarch or a Purple Fly; we only get rarer fish from it, so why not rarer bugs?
I was delighted with fewer Daily Chances in the navbar redesign (although, I thought the whole thing should have been handled with more style.) Fewer Chances--> Fewer bugs circulating --> On the way to economic stabalization (sort of).
As for the ridiculous prices in the MP, I think it could be (would have to be) fixed by caps on prices. Since inflation would have occured anyway, I believe, I think the maximum anything should be bought at is 100,000 gold. Considering that items sell for ten and twenty times that amount, I think it's a fair deal.
But, to totally stabalize the economy, we need reliable gold sinks, not ones easily manipulated by greedy users. I think we should still have an MP tax, but one that takes money from the buyer. This way, the seller can keep his asking price without feeling cheated out of profit. I also think that all of the arenas should cost 1000 gold to compete; I know that the Avatar Arena does, but the Writers' is only 100, and I believe that the Housing is still free. Perhaps making a VJ Playlist could cost a bit. That would be a stretch, though.
Those are all the ideas I have right now.

The buyer get's taxed too They HAVE to pay the ammount the seller is asking for and they lose that 2% from their gold too. And the higher the item the more the 2% fee kicks in There are alot of gold sinks all the store bought items,When you sell things back to the store, and hairstyles. As for the 100k thing that would NOT be a good idea people would get pissed more then happy and the exchange forum would be flooded with people selling things. And they'd have to make it harder to earn gold again.

And they'd have to make it harder to earn gold again. That's the point... It's like real life taxes. You HAVE to pay the amount on the item, but the store isn't getting all of that money. The gold sink is in buyers gold, not the sellers. Eyalan And when do you think that the sink will kick in? It already is kicking in. Items that originally were 200K are now 20K or less.. Stripped stockings anyone? Kitsune masks have also dropped maybe 1 million in price. So it's working, it just takes time.. plus they need to add more gold sinks for it to fully work.

Almyk Stripped stockings anyone? I got some Striped Stockings from a giftbox a few weeks ago only to find out that the marketplace price dropped dramatically >.> I'm guessing they increased the chance of getting the stockings. That 200k would've been nice >.>

XxXSuicide Is PainlessXxX Almyk Stripped stockings anyone? I got some Striped Stockings from a giftbox a few weeks ago only to find out that the marketplace price dropped dramatically >.> I'm guessing they increased the chance of getting the stockings. That 200k would've been nice >.> lol yea it woulda.. That's the problem though, everyone wants to make more gold, so the most wanted items go up in price.. It's not really a question of rarity, but want. And I'm guessing not many people really want stockings lol Also.. I think making similar items and rare items easier to get, is another way Gaia is working with the prices on things. i.e Inari's beads and Kitsune masks. Not the same, but similar. P:
