In this world, humans have migrated over the past 200 years into Centaur land and not only pushed them into smaller and smaller habitats but have taken many to be their slaves.
There are no horses in this land so the humans use Centaurs as such and the centaurs are taught from birth that they are an 'inferior race.
Some Centaurs have come to 'accept the order of things' other's would rather be slaves to the humans and enjoy the comforts of society in exchange for some kind of labor.
There are slaves of all kind. Land-working slaves, personal slaves for riding and guardianship in the outdoors... even a few indoor ones of smaller stature who get to enjoy the luxuries of the rich as they serve large parties and at special occasions.
Not all humans are evil. Most are proud and conceited but there are some who simply do not understand that slavery is wrong and they treat their Centaurs with kindness and even close friendship.
But of course most Centaurs know this is not right whether they accept it or not. The free Centaurs ban all things save for a small bit of clothing. The free centaurs live under trees and stars and teach by word of mouth. They have no 'possessions' nor do they imitate humans by building things. They have no weapons either save for their strength and hooves and set traps for their food other than the fruits and grains of nature... Which are also being taken by the humans.
Humans have finally become comfortable and no longer fear Centaurs and even rise centaurs to capture their own kind... but among the centaurs things are coming to a head.
Things cannot stay the same much longer.
