Stables with various types of horses, some for war and others for taking out on a pleasant Sunday ride. There are mares for the newer riders, and stallions for those willing to take a risk. The majority of horses here will let anyone who brings them a carrot ride them.

~Horses Stalled Here~
DayBreak - The Captain's personal horse; a bronze stallion most like a Criollo horse. DayBreak has a habit of snorting at people, and tends to hate anyone who draws the captain's attention away from him. Hot tempered, it seems the only person this horse really likes is the captain, whom he carries a deep infatuation for. He's much nicer to people around him when she's not around, especially children. {And excepting the captain's assistant, who he openly detests at all times.}
Sterit - A chestnut roan mare, and the new mother of Min. This horse is strangely expressive, and probably the most friendly. She'll allow almost anyone to ride her as long as they have good intentions. She's best with beginner and first time riders, as well as children. Closest to an Arabian.
Hera - An older mare that usually shares a saddle with Sterit. Closest to a 'Snow' Appaloosa, is a base of white with a handful of smaller black spots. Mild-mannered, Hera is a good choice for intermediate riders who know how to handle a horse.
Damian - A bay Morgan gelding, this horse is more for leisure riding than lessons. A more experienced rider is recommended for Damian, for he is full of character and spirited.
Min - A palamino foal, though how the coloring came about is a mystery. The captain blames the spot on DayBreak's head, being the father. It's hard to tell how this horse will turn out personality wise, though seems to be very good with all people. This horse was a gift from the captain to Agito.
Jinx - A pinto-colored pony, most like that of the Shetland breed. Jinx is probably the most intelligent horse in the Stables, and used primarily for teaching younger riders. An older pony that the captain obtained from a small viallge, who believed the horse unlucky. Jinx also has a cart she likes to pull around for passengers.

Entering the stables followed by her oblivious monk companion, the captain looks down the row at each individual horse. If the kid didn't even know what a horse was, then he most definitely didn't know how to ride one. A mare, probably one of the mothers. Sterit, maybe. "Alright, Hakuma, listen carefully. Horses aren't just animals, and don't deserve to be treated as such. Respect it as you would another person. Monks are all about the respect, aren't they?" going off into a tangent she tells him tidbits of riding tips. Keep your feet in the stirrups, hold tight to the saddle horn, and don't jerk on the reins too much. "Your horse will just follow mine, as trained, but you still need to be careful!" she declared, leaning against the stall Sterit, one of the younger mother horses.

So these were horses, a lot bigger than he could have imagined. He nodded and kept saying 'yes, ma'am' to all the directions he was given and approached Sterit's stall next to the Dawn Leader.
"I'll make sure ...Sterit is taken care of well while under my responsibility." Hakuma said. He still couldn't believe all these things were happening to him so quickly. It all began with an unknown cause of attack from creatures of the wild which he still needs to figure out, but until then there are priorities...

Restraining a laugh, the Dawn Captain nods. "Alright. Give me a moment, I'm going to ready my own horse." hurrying off down the stalls, she stops at the far end, a stall noticeably bigger than the others. Inside was the captain's bronze stallion, DayBreak. Not exactly a creative name, but it worked well enough for her. In the center of DayBreak's forehead was a white splotch of hair, which the captain always claimed was vaguely moon-shaped. Leading the horse from the stable, she lays the usual white saddle blanket, heaving the heavy, silver accented saddle into place on the strong horse's back.

Sterit was a tall, strongly built brown mare. Intelligent brown eyes watched the strange smelling human before her. The white-haired one had brought him here, so he definitely couldn't be dangerous. Nudging the strange man with her nose, the mare is curious to find out what he needs.

Hakuma has only dealt with one animal before, and that was a tiger. Declawed for safety purposes, the tiger was nurtured like all the other monks. Hakuma was hoping taming a horse would be like taming the tiger.
"Hey there, Sterit... don't worry about me, I won't harm you..." He tried to pet Sterit and then attempted to get onto her back.
"I just need a moment of you effort..." Hakuma spoke in a calm and gentle voice trying not to startle her in any way, or pose as a threat.

Sensing the harmlessness the man meant, Sterit nudges him again. Not one of the horses comfortable with being ridden bareback, Sterit clops out of her stall and walks around the man in circles, her eyes shining in a teasing manner. Strangely expressive, this horse.

As she finished the saddling her own horse, she turns to watch the scene that was behind her. Stifling a fit of giggles, she walks over and leads Sterit to the saddle storage room, picking out the saddle usually shared between Sterit and another mare, Hera. Hoisting the thick woolen saddle blanket, she waves Hakuma over to watch how the saddle is fastened. "I do hope your ready." she snickers lightly as she easily swings herself up into the saddle on her horse's back. "Alright, put your left foot in the stirrup, and holding the saddle horn, swing yourself into the saddle."

Hakuma skeptically nodded and did what he has told. He picked his leg up and put his foot into the stirrup. Hakuma tilted his head up to get his eye on the saddle horn and grabbed onto it and swung himself up. He almost fell over to the other side of Sterit, but regained his balance and put his other foot into the right stirrup.
"Okay... so.... how does it work from here?" He asked as he looked at the position he was in right now. Being atop the horse made him definitely feel a lot taller, but at the same time a little one with nature, to be able to tame an animal long enough for it to gain a trusting bond and work with the animal.

Continuing to stifle any laughter caused by the scene's this man caused, the Dawn Captain nodded in encouragement. "Nicely done." she comments, flashing a grin. "All yo really need to do now is get used to the movement your horse makes as she runs. Try your best to memorize this movement, and move yourself with it. Less bruising that way." she snickers lightly, squeezing her horse's sides lightly with the heels of her boots. The black stallion beneath her neighed in annoyance at the intrusion to his ride with the captain, but reluctantly moved on out of the stables at a walk. "Sterit will automatically follow Midnite, so you don't have to worry about guidance. Just try not to fall off."

"Okay...." Hakuma said as she began to move. He began to knew what she was saying about the movement as soon as Sterit began to trot out. Hakuma began to bobble up and down while Sterit followed the stallion. The mere trotting of the horse was uneasy for Hakuma, mostly because of the usual reason, he hasn't done this before.
"Are, we gonna be going any faster than this...?" Hakuma asked uneasily.

"Of course we are. We might as well have walked if this is the fastest we're gonna go." sensing his uneasiness, the captain restrains even more laughter. This boy was causing all sorts of amusement. "Just be sure to hold on tight." she snickered again, snapping the reins once. Taking his cue, Midnite picks up the pace to a light canter. Hoping he doesn't fall, the captain takes the trail leading from the stables to Dawn Castle.

Once the pace was picked up even more, Hakuma still continued to believe he could have gotten there on foot faster. Hakuma bobbled more violently up and down on the horse as she picked up her pace to follow the other horse.
"I was hoping you wouldn't say that" Hakuma whispered to himself as the terrains passed by him more quickly.

(Randomly picked a place to post...)

Carefully pulling Coal to a halt, Mori swung her leg over his back with relief. She was glad to have both feet on solid ground. Resting her hand gently on the stallion's nose as he shifted uneasily at the new place, she looked to where Jon should be coming right behind her. Her hood had fallen back, though she didn't miss the suffocating presense of it. Rather, she was glad to be able to return to normal again.

Jon came in not too far behind the girl. It had become apparent that she had grown used to riding since they had started the long trip back. He dismounted Olidimara and led the horse into a stall where Jon removed what little was on the horse. "Home sweet home. Are you glad we're back?"
PostPosted: Tue Sep 02, 2008 3:02 pm

"In some ways..." she admitted as she followed him, leading Coal behind her. She led him to the stall nearest Olidmara, not wanting to seperate the two quite yet. It took her longer to take the tack off of Coal for a handful of reasons, mostly because he was carrying most of the cargo, he actually had tack on, and she was reaching way over her head to pull it all off. She left the packs at the front of the stall, sliding the saddle and headstall over the stall door for now. The black charger shook as soon as it was all off, the sweat marks on his back proving how hard he had been working, despite his light rider. Used to the procedure by now, Mori picked up a brush and began to gently brush him, to make sure the sweat didn't gather and form an itch in his coat as well as to keep the hairs trained to go the right way. Grateful for her, Coal turned to nudge her playfully, still fonder of her than Jon.

Olidimara snorted and huffed a bit when he noticed Mori was standing in the stall next to him. Jon put the brush down and grabbed the horse in order to look him in the eye, "Now cut that out, if she was gonna eat you she would have done so by now. You just need to get over it as long as you're mine you're gonna be around her, okay." Jon let go and picked up the brush. He brushed out the hair that had been misplaced y the rider's legs, "Sorry about that, I know it bothers you hen animals react like that."
