The homes of both the water and nature demons, these two races have always shared a symbiotic relationship. The water demons control of water allows for rain to fall anywhere which has helped the Forest of Life flourish, in return the demons of nature help to protect the Lake of Eternity from any harm by not allowing strangers to approach, changing trails and landmarks to confuse would be invaders. The demons of nature can usually be found living in the very trees themselves, either within via their magic or in great tree top villages. The water demons live along the shores of the many small rivers that shoot off from the Lake of Eternity, while others live in the lake itself. The two races also share their homes with a myriad of creatures, for the Forest of Life isn't named so lightly.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ There had to be a better place to hang out. This was practically torture. Damean lay at the base of a large tree, considering his options. His arms crossed lazily behind his head, and one leg crossed over the other, he looked incredibly relaxed. But in reality, he was dying of boredom. He stared at the branches above him with a blank look that was rapidly becoming more annoyed as the minutes passed. 'There's nothing here,' he thought, exasperated. It's amazing how well a couple of centuries could suck the fun out of an island, even one with the size and diversity of Magmus.
He'd been to almost every part of the island. Granted, he'd avoided the Frozen Wastelands, but for crying out loud. The name was a bit of give in, it couldn't be that exciting. He tried to think of the other islands, which he had never visited before. Maybe one of them would make a nice detour. 'Brenton? No, that's the human island. Might as well rename it Bored-ton... Oh, what about Moonlight Island? Hot vampire chicks, could be fun...' he chuckled to himself, it wasn't a bad idea. But... there was the fact that these girls did actually have a bite worse than their bark... he didn't want to become vamp-chow, either. Ugh. Everything seemed to have a down side lately.
He spent a few more moments contemplating, and playing devil's advocate to himself. He wondered briefly if he was shooting down his own ideas just to give himself something to occupy himself with, but that didn't stop him from continuing to do it. He lifted a hand above his face, and lit a spark with two of his claws. A tiny flame lit up, and he twirled it in his fingers, watching the light dance across his hand. His face drew into a slight pout as he stared, his wandering mind losing its satisfaction again. "Screw this..." he muttered, and flicked the flame upwards. It hit a leaf on the lower branch of the tree, and the leaf twitched and fell, fire slowly consuming it until its ashes fell to the ground. That caught his attention. A sneaky grin crept across his face and he flicked up another fireball, and another leaf fell. This could be something to entertain himself with for a little while. See how long it would take for him to get snapped at by one of the local nature demons. Then maybe he could pick a fight. What a fun idea. ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. }]

❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxThe early morning air was crisp and clean. The creatures of the forest were rising and beginning their day; the birds chirping and flowers blooming. The mist rose, revealing a female standing at the edge of a pool, watching the koi as they darted to and fro underneath the blooming lily pads, their delicate white petals tipped in orange from the rising sun, shining iridescent in the mist. Taesa’s pale sliver dress flowed around her body as the slight breeze blew the soft willowy fabric, and she shivered in the chilly air. Her toes wiggled in delight as the soft sand caressed her soles and she relaxed when the sun finally embraced her, its rays bringing warmth to her skin. xxxxTaesa reached up and plucked a soft ripe fruit from the clutches of the ivy that it clung to, it’s pink skin tore easily at the pressure of her nail, exposing the deep red flesh underneath. She looked at it hungrily, enjoying its scent, before she devoured it. She reached for another one, savoring the sweet yet spicy taste that the delicate fruit left upon her tongue. She ate her way through the twine of ivy until she was full, the deep red juice running down her fingers like blood as she tore into the last one, dropping it into the pool for the orange and blue fish. Taesa then waded deeper into the pool, letting her dress flow around her like waves before she drew it off and began to bathe. xxxxThe cool water caressed her skin as she waded deeper into the pool, the sand that had enveloped her feet at the shore giving way to moss as she got waist deep. The water was clear, and she swam over to the other side where the pool stopped abruptly as a sheer rock wall rose out of the water. It was shadowed, and this was where she rose out of the water and washed every day. As she went through her ritual, she thought about the simplistic beauty of the nature around her and how different it was from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Taesa swam to the other side of the pool, and grabbed her clothes from where they were drying on a rock in the sun. She stepped out of the pool, letting the water run in rivulets down her body before putting her dress back on. xxxxShe laid down on the rock, with her feet curled under her and proceeded to start braiding her long blond hair, leaving out selective dark red pieces as she went along. And then she laid down and settled in for a nap.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 'What a HORRIBLE IDEA!!!'
Trees rushed by his vision as Damean sped forwards. A loud crashing sound behind him hinted that he wasn't quite going fast enough, which he thought was ridiculous. After all, he was trying to outrun a giant, moving tree. Those things should, by all logic, be sluggish, right? ....But then again, a giant moving tree chasing a fire demon through a possessed forest wasn't really logical to begin with. He decided to try and pick up the pace some more.
He had been really into the whole lighting-leaves-on-fire thing, until a loud rumbling had startled him to his feet. It turned out that tree he had been leaning against was one of the nature demons he was trying to aggravate. There was a difference between getting yelled at for lighting a tree on fire, and being attacked by the tree itself for doing so. Mainly the fact that he'd come really close to having his tail squashed.
"Look, uh, Mr. Tree-Thing?! Can't we just... talk this over or something?! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make good fertilizeeaaaand you're not listening to a word I'm saying CRAP!" He could hear the groaning of the tree's wooden limbs, their relentless approach signaling that the spirit within it wasn't quite ready for negotiations yet. Damean skirted through a close pair of trees, hoping to give himself some distance. He seemed to be getting a good head start when he passed by a miniature lake of sorts. It wasn't the lake of the forest, but it was still pretty. Not that he had time to admire the-
Smokin' hot blonde by the water. Wow.
He had to do a doubletake, and, glancing behind him, decided to take a little detour. He was sure he was far enough ahead of that tree to be able to trick it, and so he ducked behind some wildly growing bushes and crept around to the other side of the rocks, sliding in for a stop beside the lovely lady. He put on his best charming grin as he relaxed himself about a foot away. "Beautiful day for a swim, don't you think?" he began his pickup attempt, "What do say you and I-" THUD. His sentence cut off at the distant boom. "...." THUD. He looked around, but there was no sight of the tree. "...I..." THUD. The "distant" boom didn't seem so distant anymore... but then, it seemed to stop altogether.
Damean sighed heavily, thinking he'd almost freaked out for no reason. But then a shadow was cast over the rock, and he gulped before looking upwards at a raised bunch of tree-roots. "Oh, SHI-" THUMP.
Well, after a moment of wracked nerves passed by, he realized he wasn't dead... 'But, talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place...' "Oww..." ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. }]

❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxSomething was thudding rather loudly through the forest. Taesa opened one eye in time to see a figure streaking through the forest. Well, there’s the source of all the rustling, she thought as he ran by the pond. Aaaaaand, there goes the source of the thumping, she concluded as a rather large tree ran after him. It was a rather odd scene, but she just attributed it to the forest taking care of those who didn’t belong. After all, that is what the forest does, isn’t it? She closed her eye, settled back down and continued to bask in the sun. xxxx“Beautiful day for a swim, don’t you think?” The voice invaded her thoughts, and she opened one eye again, slightly irritated. It was the thing, a demon, she now noticed, that had been getting chased by the tree. She smiled, slightly amused at his not-so-subtle attempt at a pick-up line. He continued on his attempt, and her smile grew broader as he was interrupted by loud thudding. It was the ‘tree’, creeping up behind the demon. Taesa opened her other eye, taking in the demon fully. xxxxHe was about her height, maybe a little taller, and his orange hair fell around his head like a halo, although his grin was anything but halo-worthy at this point. He was thin, but muscular, and slightly tanned. His high cheekbones accented his bright green mischievous eyes that twinkled in the sun. Now, though, those eyes were turned upwards at the shadow that fell across his body. Taesa’s grin grew larger and playful as the ‘tree’ lifted up its version of a foot. And her grin became a full blown laugh at the demon’s facial expression. Then the foot came crashing down. xxxxIt created quite the boom as it landed on top of the orange haired demon. Taesa looked up at the ‘tree’, and realized that it was a demon whose job was to protect the forest. He just took the shape of a tree. It’s leaves were singed. “So, no one ever taught him not to play with fire, did they?” She mused out loud to the tree. “Perhaps you should let him go now,” she glanced down at the roots of the tree. The fire demon was no where to be seen. She didn’t want him to die. Not that she would have minded the loss of someone who had no respect for nature, but she didn’t want to have to clean up the mess… xxxxShe watched as the tree lifted its foot and walked away. The demon was lying on the ground, sort-of spread eagle in an indent where the tree had placed its foot. She reached down into the hole and grabbed him by the arms, dragging him up out of the hole, and placed him on his feet on the ground next to her. “You really should be more careful about what you try to light on fire around here. The guardians take their job very seriously.” She didn’t try to hide her grin. “So, stranger, what’s your name?”

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ He was really stuck in there tight. Damean tried fidgeting, squirming, and generally struggling out from under the tree's makeshift foot, but the thing just wouldn't let him go. With his limited mobility, he couldn't conjure up a big enough flame to do more than irritate it further, so he decided not to try that method. He heard a muffled voice from the outside world, and wondered if the babe was trying to reason with it. 'Ha, she's already worried about my safety~ Maybe she'll be easier than I thought!' he felt a smug satisfaction that was only dampened by the crushing feeling that the tree-spirit was causing him. He might have been beaten down by a plant, but he could still score a girl (or so he thought). That was enough for him.
Whatever the girl had said to the tree, it seemed to listen to her. Damean remained still for a moment after the roots lifted, the full effect of the soreness taking hold of him once the immediate pressure of the massive thing's weight was relieved. He felt like he could just lay there for a while longer, maybe catch some rays while his muscles stopped aching... but the girl didn't seem to like that idea. Spoilsport. She must be eager... not that he minded that thought at all. He reflexively gasped as he was hoisted up out of the very literal hole that he had figuratively dug for himself. Oh, oxygen. Breathing was good.
He nearly toppled over again when she placed him on his feet, but he managed to steady himself by automatically using her arm as support. He let out a winded breath, and started to smile at her. Until she warned him about his flame-usage. Then he just looked confused. "How did you...? Ooh, was it still crispy? My bad." He grimaced slightly, and released her arm once he was sure he wouldn't lose his sense of balance again.
It was then that he noticed the sheer amusement she seemed to find in the situation. 'So much for caring about my safety...' he thought with disappointment. But, that didn't mean he couldn't still pull this off. He ran a hand through his hair, making sure it wasn't completely disheveled as he grinned at his "savior" once more. She was even better looking up close. "Name's Damean. What about you, my daring heroine?" he used the nickname lightly, as a sort of joke. "Speaking of which, thanks for the... whatever you did, there. Obviously you're right about taking their jobs seriously, that 'guardian' dude was such a stickler!" he chuckled at his own joke. Tree, stick, stickler... he was just so witty sometimes. "I was just messing around, though I guess a tree wouldn't know much about boredom, just kinda sitting still like that all the time..."
He realized his thoughts were wandering and snapped his attention back to where it should be; on the woman. She really was something, wearing that very flattering silver dress, her long, blond hair -that he noticed had red streaks in it- hanging in braids down to her oh-so-attractive waist. He wondered how he could have possibly lived on this island for so long and never run into her. He figured he better start making up for lost time. ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. }]

❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxTaesa smiled again as the male demon realized her amusement at his predicament. He appeared surprised at her. I can’t imagine why, she thought sarcastically, as he released her arm. He’s probably used to women falling at his feet. And I can see why. She eyed him again, appreciating what her mother would have called ‘a tall drink of water’. Her small smile grew wider as the demon introduced himself and managed to make a fool of himself at the same time. xxxx“Damean, huh? Nice name. Gaelic, meaning ‘to subdue’. Which is definitely something you could work on,” Taesa smirked to show her humor. “Mine’s Taesa. But if you want, you can call me Tae.” Her smile never wavered as he began again to make a fool of himself, and she never looked away. He trailed off, and looked at her. Really looked at her. Taesa flushed as his eyes traveled up and down her body. She hadn’t been expecting to meet anyone here this morning, and hadn’t dressed quite modestly enough apparently. And to top it off, her dress was still wet, so it was clinging to her curves very obviously. xxxxShe waved her hand at him, and pointed towards her head. “Yo, eyes are up here.” She was frowning, her eyebrows creasing downwards, but her eyes still twinkled with amusement. She turned around and started walking away as she asked her next question. She wasn’t too sure where she was going, but, then again, she never really was. She always just ended up where she needed to be. “So, Damean, what are you doing here anyways? Kind of a drab place for someone who leads such an exciting life as you,” she paused, her damp clothes making her uncomfortable. She closed her eyes and imagined her clothes dry. As the lavender sparks traveled down her dress, almost imperceptibly, she felt them dry. He wouldn’t know that she had just performed magic unless he had been really paying attention; he would have just thought it a trick of the light. She continued on her merry way, fully expecting him to follow. xxxxHer walk too her in the direction of a rather large lake, the lake of the island. She was always taken aback by the sheer beauty of the Lake, and stopped again to take it all in. Besides, she wanted this mysterious new demon to follow her, and this was a chance for him to catch up, in case he had fallen behind.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damean looked surprised yet again when Taesa seemed to pull the origin of his name out of thin air. He hadn't even known that. He figured she must be pretty smart, then. That was cool, smart girls could still be fun. Actually, sometimes they were more fun. And by the glint in Tae's eyes as she spoke with him, she was anything but dull. She was, however, confusing; every time she seemed to indicate she was interested, she would say or do something that said she wasn't. Like, telling him he could call her Tae. It reminded him of his own nickname, though he didn't say anything about it yet since he liked his full name just fine. Tae and Dae. They were getting cute already.
He blinked and frowned when she directed his attention back up to her face. "Huh? ..Oh." He thought of his appreciation as a compliment to her looks -and boy did she look good- but he supposed women were weird like that. If she had decided to look him over, he wouldn't mind a bit. It might be different in his case since he was the one who was doing the flirting up to this point... Not that he cared.
Suddenly she was walking away, though the fact that she was still talking to him as she did so made Damean believe that she wanted him to follow. 'Leading me on again... literally,' he thought with a half-smirk as he began to follow. He full-on grinned at her question, letting out a snicker. "Oh yeah, very exciting. Couldn't you tell? I get my kicks out of pissing off the plant population." His words had a hint of sarcasm laced in, because to him it seemed incredibly sad that he really had nothing better to do than flick mini-fireballs at leaves.
His grin died down some and he let out an almost inaudible sigh. "I was actually trying to figure out something to do," he admitted, "I was starting to wish for a change in scenery." Though whether or not that was still what he wanted... he wasn't sure. If there were more women like Taesa around, he might consider hanging about a while longer.
He noticed that they were fast approaching the Lake of Eternity, and briefly wondered why. He had never really seen it before, only knew where it was. It occurred to him that Taesa might be a water demon, since so far he had seen her lying by a lake, and now moving from one lake to another. But she might not be, either, since all living things are drawn to water at times. She already knew that he was of the fire variety, thanks to their embarrassing first encounter, but he still had no idea what she really was. And now that it was in his head, he was insanely curious to find out. "Back at you though. What is a beautiful woman like you doing in a boring place like this?" Despite her warning about working on being subdued, he was never the subtle type. ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. ❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxTaesa chuckled at Damean. This guy is a character… She turned and looked at him as he lagged behind. “Better the plant population than the human population. At least the plants won’t kill you. Well,” she mused, “they might try…” She smiled. There was something about him…. She turned away and continued walking, still not sure where she was going. He rambled on for another minute before finally becoming quiet… and then talking again. xxxxHis question seemed innocent enough, but she knew that underneath the not-so-carefully-disguised compliment there was something else. Taesa wondered about the answer. She was always just where she needed to be for whatever it was she needed to be there for. “I am here doing whatever it is I do when I’m not other places.” She felt the answer was sufficiently vague enough to confuse him, at least for a little while. So she clarified, to make it worse. “That’s not to say that when I’m elsewhere I don’t so what it is I do when I’m here, but when I’m here I don’t do what it is I do elsewhere.” She stopped and turned back to face him; he should be really confused. Her smile brightened a notch. She hadn’t had this much fun in a loong time. xxxxThey had reached some sort of alcove near a waterfall on the edge of the Lake. It was beautiful here, and the mist rose off the lake in swirls where the water hit it with force. Splashes of color rose with the mist as light caught the reflective bodies of the water nymphs that lived there. She ducked under the waterfall and into the cave. It was breath taking here. The light from the sun fell through the water and created wonderful patterns on the back wall of the cave. The splashes of color accented the flowing pattern, and created an ethereal atmosphere. Taesa stopped and took it all in. There was something about this place that pulled her here. She turned back towards the door and waited patiently for Damean to follow, almost certain that he would get wet on the way in. There was no opening in the flow of water, but she had not gotten wet. She was mystified, but shrugged it off. xxxxWhen he didn’t appear, Taesa shouted back out through the wall of water, loud enough for him to hear her. “Coming?”

EVENT
The sky darkened above Magmus Island. Thunder rumbled in the distance as ominous clouds attempted to obscure the daylight. It seemed as though the entire sky was being devoured. Some demons recognized the abnormality of the approaching storm, even before parts of the clouds began to shift in hue, cycling the color spectrum and casting an eerie presence. The Forest of Life grew quiet, and its inhabitants waited anxiously for the apparent threat to pass.
They had no such luck. Suddenly, several streaks of black lightning shot down, striking different areas of the island. Naiads, Nixies, and other creatures that had gathered at the Lake of Eternity were greatly alarmed as one bolt came down all too close to their sacred home. In a panicked rush, those who were able began to erect a barrier to protect the lake, and consequently its inhabitants.
A strangled cry was heard in the distance, which turned into a pained moaning. Something shuffled through the brush nearby, and a flock of birds burst hurriedly from their roosts with a cacophony of crows and twitters, and flew out of close proximity of whatever had begun to disturb the forest. Danger was most definitely imminent.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Tactfully falling behind, Damean took a moment to enjoy his view. He fought back the urge to whistle, thinking that he'd made enough of a fool of himself already. He forced himself to look up again as she began to turn and face him again. What a shame, he liked it much better when he could just follow her. What was she saying? Oh. Funny. "Ha ha ha. Rub it in why don't ya," he smiled, not sure whether he felt more like laughing genuinely or rolling his eyes. He wondered if he would ever live that down with her. ...Hey, woah... His smile dropped and he shook his head slightly, casting that thought aside for good. Thoughts like that implied that they'd be around each other for long. As interesting and incredibly hot as she was, Damean just couldn't see that happening. Things tended to get messy if he stayed with the same crowd for too long.
The time she took to think of an answer to his question gave him time to regather himself. If it hadn't been for her jumbled answer, he would have been smiling again the next time she looked. Instead, he just looked very confused. At first he had been intrigued as she said she did things there that she didn't do other places, and of course his mind went far from the right direction and far down the gutter. But then she'd added on that she did what she did here other places, and he had to think that one over. Was she saying that she got around? He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again, then tried a second time and did the same thing. Then he simply sighed, giving up. "Okay, that's cool I guess," he tried to shrug it off. 'Must be a smart-girl thing,' he mused.
Finally, they arrived. He was amazed that they'd actually been able to find the Lake of Eternity. From what he'd heard, there was a very strict guard kept on the place, and impish demons that enjoyed to throw wanderers off the right trail. Perhaps Taesa was a regular? Or she just had a very good sense of direction. Either way, it was a sight he was suddenly glad to be able to see. It was beautiful; the glassy water shimmering, water nymphs sunbathing -oh, that was nice-, everything seemingly peaceful.
And then the storm came.
Damean's attention snapped upwards at the crack of the black lightning. How long had he been admiring the scenery?! He looked around at the suddenly panic-stricken forest. Taesa wasn't there. For a moment a lump caught in his throat, as he wondered just what the hell was going on. But then, he heard her calling to him. By the tone of her voice, she'd been in the cave that he was just now noticing for long enough that she had no idea about the current situation right outside. He wished he were so ignorant. But now he was just panicked. Eyes darting from side to side, he hastily replied, "Yeah, just a sec!" before quickly ducking through the veil of water that separated the two.
He took a second to shake himself off, not even realizing that he was barely wet. It had been a reflex reaction. "I hate water," he mumbled to no one in particular, though the comment wasn't entirely accurate. It was impossible to hate water, but he didn't like to get wet unless he was bathing and had to. "Oh, speaking of which, there's some kinda freak storm outside causing a scene," he said as he finally lifted his gaze to Taesa. "Don't worry about it though," he added with a grin, "Anything happens, I've got ya covered." He was lying through his teeth, of course- if anything did happen, and he would most likely be trying to find the biggest rock to hide behind. But as long as they were safe in the cave, he was willing to play the part of hero for her. ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. ❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxTaesa looked over at the waterfall as the light suddenly grew darker. The nymphs suddenly went into a frenzy, their little blue reflective lights sparkling through the water like stars through the night sky. They traveled up the dark blue water in waves, tiny light blue sparks on the dark blue backdrop. There was something wrong out there, but she paid it no mind. They’re so hyper, she thought with a shrug as Damean came through the waterfall, getting slightly damp in the process. Was he… Steaming? She shrugged, and continued with her line of thought. they always have something to be worried about, they’re so overprotective about the water. They almost don’t let me swim in it… She looked back at Damean, his face was… conflicted. There was something odd going on here, definitely. xxxxShe listened to what he had to say, thinking fast. His face was comical, and she decided that nonchalant was the way to go in this situation, since he didn’t seem to keen to take control of the situation, despite his obviously false profession. Taesa smiled. “Ah, I see. Well, caves are very good cover for thunderstorms…” She shrugged again, and looked at him. His red hair had been plastered to his forehead, and he had shaken his head, so it was sticking up in all sorts of directions. She went over and smoothed part of it down, as it had been sticking straight up, careful not to get too close. She met his eyes, and looked away quickly, playing coy. xxxxTaesa turned and walked over to a little opening on the other side of the cave, poking her head in when she reached it. Her voice echoed as she talked. “Do you wanna explore this part of the cave? There’s lots of open space back here, look, my voice echoes.” She pulled her head back in, and turned around. “It’s pretty dark though. Wanna go?’ Her voice was slightly girlish as she asked; she was feeling adventurous and playful. xxxxShe looked back at the waterfall, and was surprised to see that it was almost black, despite the fact that it was around noon. And then it dawned on her that the only reason that she could see anything at all was because her magic had enhanced her eyesight without her knowing it. If one looked at her eyes in the light, they would appear to be threaded with lavender and indigo. She smiled, knowing that unless his eyes did the same, Damean would be almost totally blind.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damean gave Taesa an incredulous look when she simply shrugged the storm off. He glanced back at the mouth of the cave. That was not a normal storm... he wondered how she could just shrug it off so easily. His own instincts were sharp with the sense of potential threats. He chewed the inside of his lip lightly, contemplating the situation. Well, if she was willing to look past it... No point in worrying his head off unless it became necessary. He turned back to address Tae again.
Only suddenly, she was right in front of him.
His eyes widened in surprise- he hadn't even noticed her walk over to him! And out of nowhere, there she was.... touching him. He stood completely still as she smoothed down part of his hair, trying to seem nonchalant about it. He was a ladies man, there was nothing new about being in proximity to a girl like this. She wasn't even that close to him, and seemed to be making a conscious decision to stay that way. Still, he found himself having a hard time relaxing, especially when she finished her task, and her eyes lowered to his. If there was ever a perfect opportunity to turn things up a notch... But, she turned away just as he was about to try to make his move.
The second her back was to him again, he grit his teeth and cursed in his head. 'Damn, I missed my chance!' he thought, aggravated. He tried to console himself to the fact that there would be plenty more chances in the future. After all, they were stuck in a cave, alone, with a dangerous storm just outside the confines of the stony walls. Things couldn't be better, really.
Well, his hair was driving him insane. But other than that, couldn't be better. Taesa messing with his copper locks had made him aware that they were messed up to begin with, and the thought that it may not be absolutely perfect got to him very quickly. It was only a matter of moments before he couldn't take it anymore. He furiously rubbed his head through with both hands to keep it from flattening, then carefully combed it with his fingers, arranging it back to its original glory. Once satisfied, he let out a relieved sigh. Crisis averted, this time.
Dae walked over to catch up to Taesa as she suggested searching further into the cave. He was all for this idea; anything to get further away from the storm... and if it happened to get them further into seclusion too, all the better. He tried to peer into the cave and see, but she was right. It was really dark. Actually, he could barely see a thing. Vexed, he took a step back. "Course I wanna go," he replied, and struck up a flame in his hand without even thinking. The little ball of fire floated above his palm, and he stroked it with his free hand for a moment before holding it out in front of him. A dim light was cast upon the tunnel, and he smiled. "There. Who's worried about a little darkness?" he said with a chuckle before taking the lead. "C'mon~. Let's see how far it goes." ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. }]

❂ Ƭɐɝƨɐ ❂ •´Ж`•⊹⊱⋛⋋♉⋌⋚⊰⊹•´Ж`• xxxxTaesa blinked at the sudden light as Damean ‘struck’ up a small fireball in his hand and held it in his palm. She allowed herself a minute for her eyes to adjust, feeling rather than seeing the lavender streaks run through her irises and they retracted, returning her eyes to their normal blue-green color. She smiled at him, thinking fast. So that’s what he is… A fire demon. I should have guessed, after the whole tree thing. Her smile grew wider at the memory, and she chuckled. There was just something about him…. She leaned in slightly, allowing her magic to fill her nose and enhance her sense of smell. There was nothing unusual about his scent, at least, nothing that would make her want to be around him like this… xxxxShe allowed him to take the lead into the dark cave, and then followed, letting his meager light fill the tunnel-like space that they were in with a wobbly state of semi-light, their shadows dancing on the walls in a liquid fashion. She sighed, the sound echoing off the corridor like their footsteps. Taesa snapped her fingers and a small, clear lavender light filled the tunnel, not necessarily lighting up the space anymore than Damean’s did, but allowing for one to see clearer. With a wave of her hand, she directed the small light to hover above her head and about a foot in front, and continued walking behind Damean, watching as the chiseled tunnel floor passed beneath their feet. Soon, they came to another opening, this one opening up to a much larger space, their small lights casting circles about their feet, and exposing about 20 feet in any direction. xxxxThe space was huge, and Taesa walked around Damean in a large circle with her mouth agape. She upped the power on her light and sent it flying into the center of the cavern. The space was about 300 feet long and 150 feet wide, with a slightly irregular shape to it. The walls were a hard rock of a reddish color, and there was a particular pattern on them, almost as if water had filled the cavern slowly and eroded the rock over time, creating waves in the natural grain of the stone. As the lavender light brightened, she noticed that there were holes in the floor. Some of them were 3 inches wide, and some of them were 12 feet, but most were anywhere in between. She called out, her voice echoing. “ Watch out for the… holes in the floor, we don’t know how deep they go.” She turned back to Damean, and looked along the walls. There were tunnels placed, seemingly at random, along the walls. This place is weird… she thought. xxxxThats when she thought she heard something flowing at the back of the cavern, sounding almost like water. Taesa turned back to Damean, motioning for him to follow her, and brought her light back down to an acceptable level above her head, and dimmed it a bit so that she wouldn’t be blinded. Then she started walking, reaching the edge of the cavern in about seven minutes. It was there that she almost fell over, startled by the sight that she saw. xxxxThere was a beautiful pool, silvery from the light that shone above their heads. The surface was like a mirror, showing their reflections, and resting in the pool, nestled in the moss, were stones. They were round and smooth, about the size of an egg, and they pulsed with an otherworldly white glow. When Taesa looked closer, she realized that they were all different colors, but in combination they glowed white. Above the pool, there was a black surface, like glass, that was both opaque and yet oddly transparent at the same time, and as she watched, their reflection appeared and disappeared, were normal and became skewed. As she watched, her flesh fell away and grew back on her body, her back became stooped, and her life drained, only to be replaced with a young and supple body, one with life. But as she watched, she realized that what she was seeing wasn’t her face, but one ever-changing, every face. She was filled with horror, and stepped back, her face skewed with disgust and pity. xxxxAs Taesa’s eyes focused on the background, she was taken aback by the beauty. She was filled with longing as here eyes rested on the pink tipped lilies and dew filed buttercups, the beauty that could and never would be in this world. She took a step closer and her bare toes broke the surface of the water, causing it’s reflection to ripple across the black glass, disturbing the picture that held her under its spell. She tore her gaze away, and realized that she was trembling with longing. There is some powerful magic in this cavern, and it’s concentrated around these stones… xxxxWith that thought, Taesa turned and ran back toward where they had come in, her red blond hair streaming out behind her.

|| ๔ค๓єคภ ||_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damean glanced behind him at Taesa when he heard her chuckle, giving her a questioning look. What was so funny, he wondered? She seemed awfully amused by something... But he was quickly sidetracked, and he smirked as she leaned towards him slightly. Not really noticeably or anything, but she seemed to be smelling him. He'd often wondered if his incubus side ever made him give off any sorts of pheromones, and though her reaction didn't fully dissuade his theory, he grew some doubt. She didn't seem to be overcome with the need to jump him or anything, so if he did smell particularly appealing, it didn't seem to be very strong. "Did the tree leave me pine-scented?" He asked suddenly with a chuckle of his own. "Nothing like a close encounter like that to getcha smelling fresh," he joked about the previously embarrassing situation; it was far enough behind him that he was able to poke fun at it already. He didn't like to dwell.
He hadn't felt the particular need for a lot of light as they walked deeper within the cave, just enough to see. So when Taesa snapped her fingers and suddenly the area became more clear to his eyes, he looked back at her once more. She was just full of surprises, it seemed. He watched her position some sort of lavender light source above their heads and let it hover there as they walked. Was she a light demon, then? It was possible... but if she was, he was sure she would've lit this place up brighter and sooner than she had. No, that wasn't it then. But what was she...?
"Huh... Didn't like the dim ambiance? And here I thought it was romantic," he mused aloud, giving her a chiding grin, though where the thought had come from seemed entirely random. Of course, the easiest way to start a conversation for him would be with flirting. It was one of the few things that he considered himself to be pretty good at. And even if he couldn't steer her in the direction that would get her to spill her origin to him, he might get to make out with her. Yeah, that would be awesome. "Maybe it just needed some music," he decided mock-sullenly, nodding his head like it made perfect sense. As if obviously, if there was the right music to go with the dark setting, she wouldn't be able to keep her hands off of him. Definitely.
His pace slowed as they stepped from the tunnel into a much more spacious area. It was really... odd, here. Damean felt something close to anxiety for a moment, as though something was trying to ward him off. But he shook his head, assuming it was just remaining nerves from whatever was going on with that storm. There was a giant underground pool in the center of things. He guessed that it was connected to the lake that was outside. This water seemed different, though, more pure. And magical, most definitely. He could feel it from a few feet away, but it only interested him and made him want to get a closer look. He glanced at Taesa with a smile that all but said "jackpot" before stooping by the pool, easily seeing the mossy bottom through the crystal clear water. It almost looked like there wasn't any water at all, it was smooth, clear and undisturbed aside from a slight shimmering. He closed his hand upon the fireball he'd had, letting it extinguish itself. Taesa's light seemed to be enough to keep them out of the dark for now.
There were oddly colored stones resting on the bed of the pool, he noticed. He wanted to get a better look at them, and reached down to pick one up. As soon as his fingertips touched the water, he felt a tingling of energy, and his arm retracted again. It had startled him, and he flexed his fingers for a moment with a blink. It hadn't hurt, in fact it almost felt good. But he didn't want to do it again. He decided he could admire the rocks later.
But then he looked up from the pool... and there was no looking away. The black, glass-like surface behind the lake had caught his attention even when that was all it had been. But very quickly, everything changed. Dim colors seemed to swirl up into the reflective stone (if that's what it even was), obscuring Damean and Taesa's image and replacing it with something entirely different. Something he would have never expected. It was terrifying for all of a moment, but then he was struck with an entirely different emotion. It was almost... compelling. His mouth fell open slightly as he stared. He didn't blink as the scene began to change once more, but felt a pang of grief at the passing of the image... Only, what was this...? Another one. Different from before, and yet equally contradicting in the reactions it pulled from him, and equally entrancing. He took a step forward. His thoughts were hard to align together, but he registered a moment of wondering if these were images of the future. His future. Or at least, possibilities of them.
The idea that he could be looking at his own future gave him an extreme thrill; and if he weren't so caught up in what he was watching, he would surely want to know what was causing the phenomenon. But then.... a third shift, this one much more straight-forward in its intention. Damean paled, but couldn't bring himself to look away. That couldn't possibly be... He took another step forward, his shoes making no noise as they became partially submersed. The bright green of his eyes became less sharp, and his lids drooped a bit, giving him the appearance of having a blank stare rather than the shock his face had held a moment ago. He looked almost as dazed as he actually was. Whatever magic was floating around this cave, it was beginning to gain a hold on him. ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ [{ Never take life seriously.
