That was a McCain ad, saying how Obama supports higher taxes and wants more government spending, therefore! there will be less jobs available.
How would this work? I don't see how those two factors would result in less jobs.
So, discussion:
The tactics used by canidates to spread their brand of propaganda
Are the facts in the ads nesicarily right
Etc.
And if someone could explain how the more taxes, etc, results in less jobs.

I guess he's trying to imply that everyone would be so poor they wouldn't be able to get enough jobs to support themselves...? Or that the government spending would continue to be centralized around the big-name industries who don't really need all the money (like oil)...?
I dunno, it's a really stupid claim, IMO. More taxes mean that the government has more to spend on programs that can create jobs. Less taxes means the government has less to spend on job and social programs, and since spending's probably going to have to be cut for a couple years regardless of whether the US raises taxes or not, lowering taxes (and thus further lowering the government's income) would be a very stupid idea right now.
The sad thing is, though, too many people in the US don't get that logic, and might not even try to sort out the logic. Too many just think "more taxes = more money I have to give up"; they forget the government doesn't have an infinitely flowing piggy bank, and so they'll end up voting for the one who promises them less taxes. And if some guy gets on their TV screen and claims more taxes will mean less jobs, well, that just makes their choice all the better, doesn't it?

That doesn't make any sense.
In my opinion, McCain should spend more time concentrating on his good characteristics instead of Obama's bad ones.
Probably just more influence over a propaganda run country...
Is it just me or is our country getting dumber by the second?

Well, if anything move goverment programs would make more jobs. If they have programs they are going to need people to work in those fields.

I thought about it awhile and came up with an answer.
More taxes = more $$ businesses have to pay. The more they have to pay, the less their profits will be, so the more likely they'd lay people off in order to keep those profits. So unemployment would rise.
Of course this is still assuming the government for some reason can't do anything useful with the taxes, but... :/

I do not buy into that at all. Higher taxes would quite simply enable the government to provide assistance to those who need it more. This would in fact ultimately help the businesses.

I'm a minor so I don't pay too much attention to politics, but if it means that my freinds parents and my parents are going to lose their jobs then I'll look into it. If businesses have to pay more and than lay people off in order to keep up with the bills than thats an issue. But if the government has more dough to spend on new programs than that could be benneficial. But then we have to think of the qualifications that may not apply to some people (Colledge degree, high school grad, experience, pay details, health/family care benefits, time consumed, and all that jazz) therefore there may still be people with no job sad In my kiddie mind I'm thinking- Why can't the government just print out more money for them to use so they don't screw our lives over? Or why can't they print out enough money to make sure people don't have to skip health insurance, sell drugs, or work 3 jobs just to put food on the table and keep up with the mortgages. Either way you look at it the US is screwed xp
