A quaint little village that caters to ship trade and sailors. There is usually always something to be found here. But don't let the peaceful setting fool you, there is also a criminal element underneath the streets of this town. A guild of Thieves have taken up residence here and won't be leaving anytime soon, but perhaps thats exactly what you are looking for? Perhaps you are kin to these cutthroats and bandits? If that's the case all you have to do is find that shady, weasel-looking fella hiding in the ally.

The sun shined down on Val’s large black sun hat, the white ribbon danced in the island breeze. The town around her was calm and quiet. She had just spent the morning shopping with Seth. She wanted a new pair of shoes to match a silver bag she bought. But, the excursion had actually turned out with her buying two bags, four sweaters, two dresses, five pairs of shoes, and a diamond encrusted hair band. She adjusted her tight black dress and turned to look at a person walking by. It was a pair of tourists; they seemed to be enjoying the scenery, having fun on the strange island. She wasn’t having fun on the island though. Despite the fun from shopping, and the excitement it gave her she was bored. She wanted to have an adventure to go have some fun. She wanted to walk around on a different island see new people. She glanced at Seth behind her sunglasses.

“SETHIE, I’M BOOOORED!” Val whined as they walked down the street. She adjusted her hat and turned to look at Seth. “Why can’t we do something exciting?” She pulled her large sunglasses off and gave him a begging look. Seth was her best friend and currently he was also her pack mule. He was carrying her newly purchased items from her morning shopping spree. She swung the black shopping bags in her hands and twirled in a circle around Seth. “Let’s go to some other island and have some fun. COOOOME OOON SEEETHIE, PLEEEAAASE!” she pleaded with him. “Think of all the fun that we could have. We could soak up the sun on some beach. Or we could go tour castles and stuff. OR, OR, even better we could purchase you a whole new wardrobe is some exclusive shops on one of the other islands. LET’S JUST GO SOMEWHERE SETHIE PLEEEASE!” Val pouted her lip, and stared him down with puppy dog eyes.

"Let us have an adventure together!"

A family of rats run across the tunnel just in front of the path of a young man in dark robes. The young man jumps slightly as they run squeaking off into the darkness. He looked so out of place in the sewers under Brenton Harbor. He had the look of a noble, not the look of one who lives in a sewer. There is slight squishing sound and the young man's face scrunches up in disgust but he continues walking steadily in the direction he was going.

"What am I doing here....," Mitsuru lets out a long sigh as he makes his way through the labyrinth of tunnels that make up the sewers under Brenton Harbor. "I should never have taken that request....," Mitsuru's voice reverberates off the stone walls and echoes down the tunnel. It was a bad habit of his to talk aloud when he was nervous. And was very nervous to be down here. The tales he had heard about bandits and monsters where plentiful and the brackish sewer water that ran down the middle of the tunnel could be quite deep or it could be shallow. Mitsuru wasn't about to find out either way.

Mitsuru's torch sends eerie shadows on the wall which didn't help matters much and he found himself rubbing the small cross about his neck more and more often with each step. Mitsuru thinks back to his encounter with the teary eyed little girl. She was bawling about losing her pup to some bad men. Which Mitsuru had assumed were the local bandits. He had been wandering these sewers for two hours now. MItsuru sighs again as he walks across a makeshift bridge and enters a large antechamber. The edges of the antechamber was surrounded by sewer water like a castle's moat. In the middle a group of bandits were talking among themselves. All talk stops when one of them notices the intruder.

"Oi! Look at what we have 'er boys! A lost little dandy man." The grimy looking man lets out a phlegm sounding laugh. The man next to him nudges him and laughs, "Ay he looks like a she he does. All pretty like and such!" The man laughs until he notices the glare from his partner. The glaring partner growls, "What the 'ell Pete? Ya say you want to take this guy to bed or something?" Pete gets a scared look in his eyes and he stammers, "What?! No! "ell Marty! I was just saying he 'looks' like a lady is all!" Marty keeps up with the glare and steps into Pete's face, "How the 'ell do you gather he looks pretty then?! I could see if ya was just saying he LOOKS like a lady. But then yas add he looks pretty too eh?" Pete looks down at the floor and mutters, "I suppose I sees what yas saying....sorry Marty."

Mitsuru sighs and clears his voice, "If you two are quite done yet?" Mitsuru steps back slightly when both men look at him with fierce eyes that belays the comedic performance of before. Mitsuru steadies his resolve and speaks clearly, "Did you two steal a little puppy from a little girl just a moment ago?" The two men give him a weird look and then Pete puts his fingers to his lips and lets out a shrill whistle. Seconds later five more men step from the shadows and stand in front of Pete and Marty. Each man was armed to the teeth and each man looked like they had no problems with killing Mitsuru.

Pete grins with a mouth full of black and brown teeth, "Sorrys mate but we're busy 'ere so you'll have to die now. Get em boys." With this the group of men begin to advance slowly on Mitsuru, thinking him easy prey. Mitsuru quickly crouches and begins to chant, "Oh spirits of the water in this world. Grant me the gift to guide you. Let me show the world of your power! Torrential Flood!" As Mitsuru finishes saying the last two words to his spell he waves his right hand towards the group of bandits. The waters surrounding the antechamber explode from its home in the moat and shoots straight to the ceiling before it comes crashing down on top of the group of bandits. But, even as the water is erupting towards the ceiling. Mitsuru is already chanting another spell, "I beseech you Jack Frost. King of Cold. Duke of Freezing. Lend me your power if for but a moment. Allow me to show your power to my enemies! Cold Snap!" Mitsuru waves his left hand and a fine mist flows towards the group of bandits.

Mitsuru smiles as he sees that his timing is perfect once again. The mist and the water meet at the same time and the bandits have a second to scream as they realize what is about to happen before they are frozen in a block of ice. Mitsuru stands and brushes the dirt of his knee. He walks slowly around the frozen bandits and finds Pete and Marty on the the ground, mouths agape in horror, staring at their frozen comrades. "If you want to help them. Answer my question." Mitsuru's eyes suddenly go wide when he feels a sharp pain in his right shoulder. He looks down to see an arrow head sticking out of a bloody wound were the pain was coming from. There was a sixth bandit....?! Mitsuru couldn't believe his carelessness as he drops to one knee.

A voice echoes from one of the many tunnels the lead to the antechamber, "Pete! Marty! You two all right?" A very large man steps from the shadow with a crossbow in hand and a sneer on his face. "Looks like you two blokes were having troubles ya pansies!" Mitsuru glares at the ambusher. More angry with himself then anything. Now what was he going to do.....

"The concepts you hold dear mean nothing to me.."

"That seems troublesome." Ruin called out to Mitsuru. Of course, it was only Mitsuru that he was calling out to, the bandits could not hear his raspy voice rattle in their heads. "If you turn through my pages, I will have a spell to help you." Ruin said again, only to Mitsuru. Laying in a far corner, the large tome lay unnoticed by the brutes that were currently targeting the mage who was outnumbered in physical bodies. "Trust me, and I will guide you to great power. To be honest, a being with such a great spirit should not die down in a place like this... no, you are destined for greatness." the book emitted a voice once more to the mind of the mage.

Though it was in a sewer, the book was untouched by its surrounding area, and was in fact a bit dusty; as if it was in a forgotten library laying on a table. The scent of the book however, smelt of old dirt and dried blood, burnt incense and pond water. Large rings were intricately placed on the front and back binding of the grimoire, with a large emerald in the middle. "Come child, use my power to save your life." Ruin cried out once more with the same raspy voice. The mental voice seemed to almost have a strange sort of echo that faded as soon as the words did, as if multiple beings were speaking.

'I had no idea clothing could weigh so much... Did that woman hide some bricks in here when she bagged..?' Seth adjusted his grip on one of the many bags now in his possession, having to put out some effort not to drop anything with the amount of stuff piled on him. How he'd even ended up carrying all this he had no idea. One minute he and Val were just walking down the street to get something to eat, and then all of a sudden he was getting dragged all over the town and having things shoved at him. He glanced sideways at Valorie, taking note of her two little bags compared to his mountain. That girl needed to be restrained when shopping. Or at least go when he wasn’t around, not that she ever let him have any time alone.

He let out a sigh when she started whining. She tended to overstate things in his opinion, so he drowned out most of her pleas and just focused on what she was asking him before slightly raising an eyebrow at her. “I don’t see what’s wrong with staying here.” He stated simply before looking forwards again. Seth was very simplistic in his wants, and he saw no need to travel. “…And I don’t want you picking out my clothes.” He added the thought stubbornly, in almost a pout. There was no way he was going to let her dress him up in some outrageous getup, especially if it was anything like what she had on now.

“Speaking of which though, I still think you look ridiculous.” He repeated his opinion from when she’d first met up with him this morning. She’d said that it was “high fashion” or whatever, but he just thought it was stupid. The hat was especially obnoxious. It looked like she was a vampire or something, trying to hide herself from the daylight with large dark accessories. The only real reason he brought it up again was to provide some kind of distraction, and see if she really meant it about wanting to go somewhere. If it was one of her usual passing thoughts, she’d easily fall for it and switch topic to clothing. If not, he’d figure something else out.

"Everything is wrong with staying here Sethie! It is a boring island, and I want to have FUN! I want to walk different streets, I want to see different sights!" Val looked at the laughing tourist she saw earlier and pointed. "I want to have fun like them. I don't want to just go home and model my clothes. As much as that would excite you and all... Don't you want to do something?" She bounced slight anxious bounces with every word. She stopped bouncing and frowned as Sethie brought up her outfit again.

"It is HIGH FASHION Sethie. It is the outfit that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's, I look great in it. BUT, that is not what we are talking about Sethie. As much as the way I look interests you, it is NOT what we are talking about Sethie. We are talking about taking a trip." She huffed stomping her foot into a puddle. Val bunched up her face in an angered look. Her black Italian leather pumps were now wet and ruined. But, she couldn't make a big deal otherwise Sethie would win. He would have distracted her and they would end up going out for dinner and doing something stupid on the island. "Can't we please go somewhere? There are so many exciting islands and we are stuck here in the middle of Boredom Island. I can teleport us we wouldn't have to pay for transportation of any kind. I will pay for food, and stuff when we are there. Can we please go?" She pouted her lip and begged some more. Her face suddenly went blank and her eyes grew wide with excitement.

"Oh OH OH SETHIE I KNOW! LET'S GO ON A QUEST! I LOVE ADVENTURE, YOU LOVE ADVENTURE, LET'S GO!" Val grabbed his hands and jumped up and down wildly. She smiled and looked him in the eyes. "OH come on stop being a spoiled sport and use some of that spray-on macho of yours, and let's GO!" She didn't even wait for his response she simply grabbed the black bags from him, and created a portal. She took one step in and turned back to Seth, "And, And, Sethie, when we were shopping today I bought you a totally new wardrobe. Stay right here, I will be right back BYE!"

Val returned a few minutes new outfit, bag, boots and umbrella, ready to go. "Ready Sethie?" She tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder and adjusted her cheetah print blouse, and black pleated skirt. "We are going to have so MUCH FUN!" She gave him big hug and grabbed his hand. "Now let's go!" She chirped and dragged him towards the quest master. The big black bow in her hair flew in the wind behind them.

Okay, so Val had a little bit of a point. Seth could understand wanting something new around to break the routine. His problem was that knowing her, her idea of "fun" would probably end up being detrimental to his health- or at the least his dignity (which he was surprised he had any left of by this point). He glanced at the tourists Val pointed at, and his brow creased into a frown.

This had to be a sign that he was right. He contemplated making a remark about just how much fun they would be having once the man realized he was down one wallet, but he kept his mouth shut if only because her next statement made his mind up. He would not be sitting through hours of "How does this look Sethie?" or "Do you like the pink one or the blue one Sethie?" or any other stupid problem she could and would come up with while trying on the mountain of probably weird-looking clothing she had collected. He tried to answer her right then, but of course she did the whole overstatement thing again and he ended up just looking at her with an annoyed expression until she finally stopped talking for a moment. "...Fine." His enthusiasm about the situation was evident.

Her reaction was not what he expected, but probably should have.

Seth blinked as she began shouting about a quest, almost falling forwards in the attempt to keep from dropping all of her crap. "Careful, idiot!" he scolded her sharply, and huffed as he readjusted his hold on the stuff. As usual though, she wasn't listening to him any more than he usually listens to her. His brow furrowed and he looked at her in stubborn confusion. "Spray on macho...?" He had never heard her use that one before, and wasn't quite sure what she meant by it. But he knew it wasn't a compliment, which was enough.

His jaw nearly dropped, however, when she said she'd bought him a whole new wardrobe. That spelled imminent death in his mind. Who knows what kind of revolting, "high fashion" disasters she'd grabbed for him! He wished he'd paid more attention when she was actually shopping. He might've been able to prevent this. "Wait, what?! Don't-!" But before he could argue, she was gone with the bags. Seth rubbed his temple with a heavy sigh, and adjusted his glasses with one finger as he waited for her to come back.

And then he wished he'd walked away without her. Cheetah print? Really? Seth grimaced slightly, doing a mental face-palm. Well, at least she seemed happy with herself now, and he hadn't been forced into any of those new clothes, yet. That was all he could really ask for at this point, as his hand was grabbed and he allowed her to pull him in the direction of the Quest Master. When they got there, his hand dropped from hers and to his side again. "Wait here. I'll find something for us." He didn't really want to go in at all, but frankly he didn't trust Val's decision-making. He just knew that if she was allowed to choose, they would end up on some kind of crazy suicide mission "because it looked fun!" He really didn't need to die at this point in his life. So, he headed towards the door.

Brenton's Harbor Town. So full of life. So many people of different races scurrying about doing what ever it is that motivates them. A typical day in the bustling port. A day that is about to get a bit more exciting.

The air a few miles above the town begins to shimmer. As if a great heat source was just out of sight. A few people in the town below take notice of this strange occurrence. Others go about their daily lives as if nothing was amiss. But soon all eyes would be drawn to the skies above Brenton Harbor as a pulse of energy rips off the roofs of nearby buildings. People shout as two figures appear soon after in the place where the air once shimmered. Their weapons locked in combat.

Some people would recognize one figure as Cain. A local swordsman wanted for treason. An alarm is sounded by a nearby city watchman and watchmen begin to appear on the streets below. The other figure was cloaked in pure darkness. When one caught a glimpse of his face they would see a bleached skull. His scythe glowed with the same eerie darkness.

The two figures finally break way from their deadlock. Sliding across the sky as if it were solid ground. Cain regains his balance and points his blade at the other figure. "Why do you attack me? Do you wish to die so soon?" Cain flicks his sword to the side and waits for an answer.

The other figure regains his composure as well and twirls his scythe behind his back. It laughs at Cain's words and speaks in a voice like steam escaping from the earth, "Does darkness need reason to quench the light? Does the predator need reason to hunt its prey?" The figure laughs again as it charges Cain.

Cain frowns at the figure's answer. "That is a foolish reason to die," and raises his sword, "but if you wish it so....then I will grant that wish."

"My my...we've got a live one here....If one could call it alive that is...I sense no life force in this being before us...be careful...."

"Tch......alive....not alive....who cares...long as it bleeds!....."

Cain sighs as he readies for the creatures attack. Karas and Akuma could be a bothersome distraction at times. But they have served him well thus far and Karas's observations have proved quite useful in the past.

The figure rushes Cain and attacks from above with a vertical slice meant to cut Cain in two. The attack connects with something and there is a shock wave of force. A surprised gasp comes from the figure as he see's why his attack is stopped so suddenly.

Cain see's the attack coming quite clearly. As if the figure were moving is slow motion. So weak...... Cain merely reaches up and grabs hold of the scythe's blade on its downward cut and stops it dead. Cain moves the blade aside a bit so he can look directly at the figure. His eyes are cold, unforgiving. "Do you understand now.....why you can't win?"

The figure wretches the blade from Cain's grasp and jumps back a few feet. It seems undecided on what to do next. It looks at it's weapon and then at Cain. And laughs. Quietly at first. Then quite loudly as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. "I can't win? But my Lord watches me! I will not lose to a creature of this world." The figure laughs again, "My Lord commands the darkness. He IS darkness. And we will not lose! Me and my brethren will conquer this land for the Dark Lord!" The figure rushes Cain again. But this time his form seems to dissipate and reappear at different intervals. It was trying to confuse Cain. To surprise him with an attack he cannot see. It disappears one last time before reappearing on Cain's right. "Now I've got you!" And swings his scythe horizontally.

Cain frowns as the figure makes the usual speech of a dying man. This part always bored him. Why couldn't the people he fought just....fight. His eyes watch coldly as the figure dashes towards him. Trying to confuse him with it's speed. What the figure didn't realize is how slow it really was. Cain reaches out and catches the blade again before it strikes. "I told you. Your already dead." With this Cain jerks the scythe towards him. Bringing the figure in close so he can grab it's face. Cain looks into it's "eyes", "And tell your Lord I'll be waiting." With these last words Cain throws the figure high into the air. It's screams echo across the sky. Cain suddenly disappears and the figure looks frantically all around him as he continues his ascent. Finally it looks to it's right and gasps when it sees Cain has appeared right next to him. His feet planted firmly on the air as if it were solid ground, his sword sheathed but his hand hovering over the hilt. Whatever happened next was too quick for anyone's eyes. But in a split second Cain unsheathes Karas, cuts the figure three times, then sheathes Karas again in one fluid movement.

The Figures body splits into three pieces. It doesn't seem to understand that it is already dead as it laughs. "More will come! This is not over! More will....." It's final words are cut off as it's mind and body finally catch up with each other. The pieces of the figure seem to disintegrate as the fall to the ground. Cain looks down at Brenton Harbor. It suffered only minor damage. But the guards were swarming now. Cain looks one last time at were the figure fell before finally disappearing in a blink of an eye.

Patience was not Val’s strong suit so waiting for Seth to pick out a quest was not going to be easy. It was going to be extra hard because Seth was probably going to pick out something extra boring, something about being cautious and not wanting to die today. She spotted a bench a few feet away and decided to sit down. If she was going to have to wait she might as well be somewhat comfortable. No sooner had she sat down than her phone vibrated in her bag. ‘Who could that be?’ She thought to herself as she dug around in her bag. Her eyes lit up as she saw the name on the screen, she quickly slid the phone open and read the text. ‘On his way, big news… what would be big enough news for my brother to have to come here in person for?’ she wondered as she slipped the phone into her bag. She stood up, and fixed her skirt. ‘I hope he is okay…’ She started off towards a small cart that was selling water. “One please,” she said pulling out some money and handing it to the cart worker. “Thank you,” she took the water and headed back to the bench. Concern was clearly painted on her face as she sat back down and took a small sip of water.

Val pulled the small gray phone back out of her bag and read the message again. ‘Val, I have big news, too big for the phone; tell me when I can come. With love.’ It had been more than a year since she had seen him. Now he was coming to visit. She shifted anxiously on the bench and took another sip of water. At least she controlled when he arrived. He hated flying so she would have to go and pick him up. She looked down at the bottle of water and frowned, it was almost gone. She took the last sip and tossed it into the recycling bin. Val bit at her lip and continued to wait impatiently for Seth to return with the quest.

"Let us have an adventure together!"

Mitsuru tries to keep his eyes open. His eyelids were growing heavy as the loss of blood begins to affect his body. They widen as a voice reaches his mind and not his ears. His head snaps left then right. Looking for the source of the voice. Then suddenly he sees sparks dance in front of his eyes and feels a very sharp pain in the back of his head. He falls face first on the sewer floor. His head spinning.

"Oi! Quite looking around like ya got any ideas of escaping mate!" It was the man who had shot him. He had smacked Mitsuru in the back of the head with a closed fist. Mitsuru could feel himself drifting into unconsciousness. That's when he saw the book. Sitting there in the middle of a sewer. Such an odd place for it. Was that the source of the voice. Mitsuru reached out for the book with his hand even though the distance between him and the book was far too great for him to reach. Then the sickening sound of bones breaking as they are crushed under the heal of a boot echoes throughout the sewers. This sound is followed by Mitsuru's anguished cry of pain.

"And none O' your magic tricks either!" The man grinds the heel of his boot into Mitsuru's hand. Causing even more pain. Mitsuru stares at the book and tries to reach for it with his mind. But he is slowly losing the fight with his consciousness. He could feel the darkness coming like a cornered animal that sense the coming predator. Then...darkness.

The man that had been torturing Mitsuru finally steps off of his hand. "Damnit....so much for that fun eh boys?" Pete and Marty laugh at this, "Oi Jack! What we gonna do with him?" The man now known as Jack rubs his chin between dirty fingers. "Pick the little s**t up and take him to the doc." A sly grin appears on his craggy face. "Might be worth a bit o' gold to the right person." The other two bandits cheer at this idea and quickly pick up Mitsuru's unconscious form and the group proceeds deeper into the sewers.

Vladimir stepped out of one of the sewer walls, wisps of blackness floating away from him and retreating back into the dark as he went forwards. He paused for a moment, wrinkling his nose slightly. The Brenton Sewers was not a place he had ever felt the need to visit. Whoever the student was that had gotten kidnapped, they better be grateful. They also better be smart enough not to do anything that would get them killed before he reached them. He knew the bandits would try to keep him alive in order to bargain the boy off, but if there was enough resistance, they might decide he wasn't worth it.

He hadn't bothered to bring any gold. He knew he wouldn't need it. After all, a few human thugs would be nothing to him. He pondered how he would tackle them. Shroud the area in a black fog and just escape with the child? Nah, too simple. Besides, these humans had to be taught a lesson. You don't just mess with a student of Jinchi and get away with it unscathed. The school had a reputation to keep up. He wondered briefly if killing them all would be excessive. It probably would be. He'd let at least one of them scamper off, but he would certainly scare them all enough to prevent a recurrence of this event.

He was much less bothered by the fact that he was in the sewer as he thought about just how he would handle the situation. At least it was already messy here, so any sort of trouble he would cause wouldn't really have to be cleaned up afterward. He padded silently down the tunnel, his cloak luckily just short enough not to drag on the ground; instead it whipped lightly around his legs. He could tell someone had been walking this very path not long ago.

He didn't break his stride until he came upon a small, makeshift bridge that led into some sort of antechamber. The smell of blood caught his attention, and he looked at the ground for hints of struggle. Yes, this was likely where the boy had been intercepted, though what he had been doing in the sewers at all was a mystery. "Hm." He pondered over the scene for a moment, crouching near one particular smear of blood on the ground. But then he caught scent of something else, and his gaze went upward.

He'd been so focused on the blood that he hadn't even noticed the five men encased in ice by a far exit of the antechamber. He inspected the piece of work for a moment, rapping on the ice lightly. "That's not bad," he conceded, "freezing the water around them..." he seemed to fall into deep thought, and then suddenly his eyes widened for a moment before dropping into a dark scowl. "Mitsuru..." he growled the name, realizing who it must have been. These bandits were trying to steal his prey.

"The bandits took him down the tunnel to your right, Vladimir. You know such already though. Had he gotten to me, or even thought of it, he wouldn't be where he is now..." The familiar voice brushed upon Vladimir's conscious. As would be expected, Ruin lie in the corner of the damp tunnel, unable to move. "So... that is the descendant of the being who crippled you so long ago? The one who made it so that you stumbled across me?" It wasn't as if the book needed an answer, but rather it was making it's presence known.

Vladimir had just been musing over which tunnel he should try searching down first when a foreign voice reached his mind. Reflexively he turned his head to glance behind him, but quickly realized who -or rather, what- had spoken to him. "Ruin," He said simply, the edges of his lips turning up into a light smirk. What an interesting turn of events...

He looked around for a moment before locating the old book, and hefted it up, giving it a good once-over. "Long time no see," he greeted it as he brushed off the cover and underside. "Though I wouldn't have expected to find you here... Surely you didn't let your last owner die in the sewers? That was poor forethought on your part, wasn't it..." he chided the thing with sarcasm in his tone.

Suddenly seeming more alert, he paused for a moment to look around. He had felt something. Looking upwards, he figured that something must be happening in the town above him. Something definitely magical, and definitely fitting under the category of "not good". Frowning, he cast a glance down at Ruin again before shrugging it off. It wasn't affecting him yet. He would focus on rescuing Mitsuru for now, and worry later, if the need arose.

His brow creased when Ruin inquired about Mitsuru. "Yes, that's him," he agreed with a sigh, but then surprisingly he chuckled. "It's a bit ironic, isn't it? His ancestor nearly killed me and led me to you, and now Mitsuru has led me to you once more as I save his life." Honestly, there wasn't anything in the world he found funnier at that moment. He resisted the urge to full-on laugh, since he didn't want to tip off the bandits to his presence. He did give Ruin a sharp-toothed grin, however, before he turned towards the previously mentioned tunnel.

Before he continued, he decided that as long as they were being ironic, he might as well turn it up a notch. He closed his eyes and focused, trying to remember that time so long ago. He remembered that demon, with it's gangly appearance and shaggy, light blue hair. It was a weak looking thing. Looking weak to those bandits would help key up surprise, he thought. And so, when Vladimir reopened his eyes, he had taken the form of the very demon who had led to this situation. "Alright, I think this should do it. It seems you've been quite bored in my absence, Ruin. Let's see if we can remedy that, if only for a few moments..." In this new guise, Vladimir tucked Ruin under his arm and began in the direction that would lead to Mitsuru and his captors.

Sewer Tunnels

Bloodshot eyes stare at the figure near the ice coffin from the darkness of the tunnels. Grimy hands reach up and rub said eyes in surprise when the figure changes shape. Grimy hands pick up a nearby bottle of booze and tosses it into the sewer water, "Too much booze...." Bloodshot eyes go wide when their owner realizes he made too much noise. A skinny, dirty looking figure rushes down the tunnels in a full on sprint shouting at the top of his lungs, "They're here they're here. Sound the alarm!" The figure elbows a switch set into stone as he runs by it and a series of click echo down the tunnels. The figure seems to pick up speed now. Fear seems to no longer be the factor in his speed. Perhaps there is another reason he is trying to make it to the door at the very far end as quickly as he can. He doesn't seem to be fast enough as there is a much louder click and arrows fire from the walls of the tunnels. The figure stops dead in his tracks and falls into the sewer water in the middle of the tunnels. His body riddled with arrows like a human pincushion.

Brad looked at the Fair One as she freaked out. Were all secret agents this unstable? The Dark and Brooding One was seriously concerned for his partner the way he looked at her as she ran around like a crazy person. He looked as if no matter what was happening right now he would follow and protect her like he was her knight, there to protect her from anything. Granted he was a Dark Knight, the Fair One’s Dark Knight. He watched blankly as the Fair One’s Dark Knight ran after his princess to save her from what seemed like her own personal hell. He went to pull out his lappie because the Knight was going to save the princess and leaving the court jester to sit and stay. Brad sighed, ‘Yet another group of people leaving because I am nerding them out. Maybe they even made up this little act. Though those emotions you can’t just make up. The Fair One’s Dark Knight does really look concerned.’ He shook his head and went to play the Saga of Cold Stone on the web, when out of nowhere the Dark Knight pulled him and dragged him after the princess. He was becoming the Dark Knight’s squire. The Dark Knight was pulling him closer and closer to a glowing hole in the air. The Fair One just stepped through it as they got to it. “What is that? Dark and Brooding Friend of the Fair One what is that and why are you and the Jaguar about to step through it?” Brad began to ramble as the Dark Knight pulled him through the portal. User Image

The Man Behind the text had simply been sitting on the couch of Val’s apartment thumbing through a magazine and eating a pop tart he had found in the cupboard when he had heard a small commotion outside and looked to see what was going on. “Wasn’t his supposed to be a quiet island? I bought her the apartment because it was supposed to be a quiet island somewhere she couldn’t get herself into a bunch of trouble,” He stood up and put the magazine and pop tart down on a glass coffee table that he scuffed as he had taken his feet off of it. “Damn she is going to kill me,” he murmured as he looked at the scuff. He went to the kitchen to find some glass cleaner, he went under the sink but all that was there was a bottle of dish detergent, nail polish remover and the card with a number of a plumber and a note: Val, don’t forget to call the plumber I am tired of turning on the sink and getting sprayed in the face. –Seth. The Man Behind the Text shook his head and crushed the note in his hands. “Who is this Seth? When I meet him I am going to kick his a**,” he said to himself as he stomped towards her bedroom to see if there was any glass cleaner in the bathroom. Just in and out no invading her privacy, no seeing if there was any more traces of this Seth around the house. “Maybe Seth is a girl,” he said as he pushed open the door to her room. But, curiosity got the best of him he began to rifle around. He looked on top of the black dresser in the corner and spotted a film strip of Val and a mystery man. “Damn it,” he said. The Man Behind the Text didn’t like to be violent but this Seth was going to need to have his scrawny butt rubbed through the street.

The Man Behind the Text turned to her bed and saw seven or eight bags sitting on it with designers names on the outside. He opened one up not to pry or anything just to make sure Val wasn’t dressing like a hooch. He pulled out the clothes, the first a dress and then a lacy piece of underwear that he immediately threw behind him and squirmed a little. Beneath another dress was a man’s shirt and leather jacket. “This isn’t possible! WHO IS THAT LITTLE MOOCH!” He yelled to himself as he began to pour all of the bags across the bed, he had long since forgotten about the scuff on the table. He was now concerned with the leeching man in Val’s life. There were jeans, boxers, slacks, and silk shirts, polos, wife beaters, argyle socks, and a pair of hideous black loafers with a white detailing. There was a beautiful silver watch with an engraving To Sethie From Val. He threw the watch back into the bag and began to shove the clothes back into the bags when he heard a door slam. It had to be Val, when she saw the mess she was going to kill him. Especially the damn scuff, that scuff would send her over the edge.

Val had tears streaming from her eyes when she pushed through the door, the portal had been a little off it had put her in the hallway the floor above her apartment. She had run down the flight of stairs and went to her apartment door which was completely unlocked, this meant he was here. But, did it mean he was safe she hadn’t had the time to see what it looked like outside but when she was running through the apartment building she had heard a couple of loud thuds. She continued to run as she ran into her living room. It was a mess, there were pop tart crumbs littering her black leather sofa and mud on the floor leading to her kitchen. A magazine lay dog eared and wide open on the coffee table with the leftovers of the pop tart sitting on it, next to the magazine was a large scuff on the glass table. She picked up the pop tart and yelled, “HEEEEEEEEY!” She went into the kitchen to throw out the pop tart, and saw her cupboards open and the box of pop tarts lying on the marble counter top. On the floor there was a crumbled piece of paper and the cupboard below the sink was still open. She slammed it shut and picked up the crumbled card, it was the note from Seth reminding her about the plumber she smoothed out the crinkles and stuck it next to her phone. She was surprised that she had regained this sort of calm when he was here. She felt safe and yet she felt worried, she thought she was going to freak out worse than this once she entered her apartment she thought she was going to tear through the apartment making a mess as she went. Instead she was cleaning up the mess he had made in the apartment.

She walked down the dark hallway to her bedroom following the mess as it travelled. She shook her head as she looked inside and saw her brother pulling through the clothes she had just bought that morning, the pair of underwear lying on the floor. Along with the leather jacket she had bought Seth and a few other items. “What the heck do you think you are doing?” she asked picking up the jacket. “I mean seriously barging into a girl’s apartment eating her food, making a mess, crumpling up important reminders, and rummaging through her stuff,” Val walked closer to the man pulling off her own leather jacket and laying both jackets on the bed. “I think that is a little rude even for you. Not to mention showing up almost completely unannounced, you say set a date and then you just pop in no acceptable,” She continued to ramble to disguise that fact she was five seconds from jumping on top of him. “On top of that you don’t even have the nerve to stop rummaging when I show up. Awwwh who am I kidding?” she asked as the tears came back and she ran to him and jumped on top of him. She gave him a large hug and kissed his cheek. Then she began to slap him and punch at him. “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING SHOWING UP?!?!? DOES YOU-KNOW-WHO KNOW YOU ARE HERE? ARE YOU SOME KIND OF STUPID? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I MISSED YOU?” She yelled as she hit him and slapped him some more before letting go of him and dropping back to the floor.
